86.70.01 Fuse box - passenger compartment
Before disconnecting the battery, ensure all text and cautions in the battery disconnection section are observed.

- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove glove box. «76.52.03 GLOVE BOX»(/land-rover/range-rover/iii-2002-2005/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-fittings)
- Noting fitted position, disconnect 8 multiplugs from fuse box.
- Remove 4 Torx screws securing fuse box and position fuse box aside.
- Remove upper fusible link cover.
- Remove nut securing positive cable to fuse box, position cable aside.
- Invert fuse box and remove lower fusible link cover.
- Noting fitted position remove nuts securing fusible link cables, position cables aside.
- Remove fusebox. NOTE: Do not carry out further dismantling if component is removed for access only.
- Remove fuses and relays from fuse box.
Refit
- Fit fuses and relays to fuse box.
- Position fuse box, connect fusible link cables, fit nuts and tighten to 8 Nm (6 lbf.ft).
- Fit lower fusible link cover.
- Position positive cable to fuse box, fit nut and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lbf.ft).
- Fit upper fusible link cover.
- Position fuse box and secure with screws.
- Connect multiplugs to fusebox.

- Connect battery earth lead.

- Remove inlet manifold gasket. «GASKET(S) -- INLET MANIFOLD»(/land-rover/range-rover/iii-2002-2005/remont/exhaust/#manifold-exhaust-system)
- Remove 10 Allen screws securing 'E' box cover, remove cover.
- Release 3 multiplugs from ECM.
- Release 2 multiplugs from EAT ECU.
- Disconnect multiplug from glowplug ECU.
- Release fuse holder and relay from 'E' box.
- Release and disconnect multiplug from engine harness to RH body harness.
- Release multiplug from engine relay.
- Release harness grommets from 'E' box.
- Disconnect earth lead from RH suspension turret.
- Disconnect multiplug from boost control modulator.
- Disconnect multiplug from mass airflow meter.
- Disconnect multiplug from CMP sensor.
- Release mass airflow meter harness from retaining clip and cable tie.
- Feed mass airflow meter harness through vacuum pump pipe.
- Disconnect 6 multiplugs from glow plugs.
- Remove 2 nuts securing engine harness to starter motor.
- Disconnect multiplug from damping control actuator.
- Disconnect multiplug from EGR modulator, remove 2 nuts and place modulator aside.
- Disconnect multiplug from low pressure sensor, positioned on fuel filter.
- Disconnect multiplugs from fan assisted fuel cooler and thermostatic switch.
- Release fuel cooler harness from retaining clip.
- Disconnect multiplug from engine oil temperature sensor.
- Disconnect multiplug from ECT sensor.
- Disconnect multiplug from CKP sensor.
- Disconnect multiplug from back of injector pump.
- Remove 3 bolts and move coolant hose adaptor from cylinder head. Discard seal.
- Remove 2 bolts securing harness.
- Raise vehicle on lift.
- Disconnect gearbox multiplug and release harness from 3 retaining clips.
- Remove bolt and spacer from 'P' clip securing harness at rear of engine.
- Release harness from 3 retaining clips on RH side of engine.
- Disconnect multiplug from 'E' box temperature sensor and remove harness.
- Fit harness to clips on RH side of engine.
- Position harness to rear of engine, fit and secure 'P' clip with bolt, tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft).
- Raise vehicle on lift.
- Position and secure harness to gearbox clips, connect multiplug.
- Position harness to LH side of engine and secure with bolt, tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft).
- Clean mating surfaces of coolant hose adaptor and fit seal.
- Position adaptor to engine and secure with bolts, tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft).
- Route injector pump harness to rear of pump and connect multiplug.
- Route CKP sensor harness and connect multiplug.
- Connect ECT sensor multiplug.
- Route harness and connect multiplug to engine oil temperature sensor.
- Position fuel cooler harness and secure in retaining clip.
- Connect multiplugs to fan assisted fuel cooler and thermostatic switch.
- Connect multiplug to low fuel pressure sensor.
- Position and fit EGR modulator, secure with nuts tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft).
- Secure damping control actuator to retaining bracket.
- Connect multiplugs to actuator and modulator.
- Route harness to starter motor.
- Fit harness connection to RH side of starter motor and secure with nut, tighten to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf.ft).
- Fit harness connection to LH side of starter motor and secure with nut, tighten to 10 Nm (7 lbf.ft).
- Connect multiplugs to glow plugs.
- Route mass airflow meter harness and connect multiplug.
- Place engine harness across engine, fit grommet to 'E' box.
- Using cable tie, secure mass airflow meter harness to vacuum pipes and secure to retaining clip.
- Connect multiplug to camshaft sensor.
- Route harness and connect multiplug to boost control modulator.
- Connect multiplug to engine relay in 'E' box.
- Fit harness connection to RH side of starter motor and secure with nut, tighten to 6 Nm (4.4 lbf.ft).
- Position and secure, fuse holder and relay to 'E' box bracket.
- Connect earth lead to LH suspension turret
- Connect multiplug to glowplug ECU.
- Connect multiplugs to EAT ECU.
- Connect multiplug from engine harness to RH body harness.
- Connect ECM multiplugs.
- Connect 'E' box temperature sensor multiplug.
- Fit 'E' box cover and secure with Allen key screws.
- Fit inlet manifold gasket. «GASKET(S) -- INLET MANIFOLD»(/land-rover/range-rover/iii-2002-2005/remont/exhaust/#manifold-exhaust-system)

- Position vehicle on lift.
- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove air intake hose.
- Remove LH ignition coil cover.
- Remove RH ignition coil cover.
- Remove 10 Allen screws securing 'E' box cover and remove cover.
- Disconnect 5 multiplugs from engine ECM.
- Disconnect 3 multiplugs from gearbox ECU.
- Disconnect engine harness multiplug and 3 relays from inside 'E' box
- Disconnect engine harness multiplug from 'E' box.
- Remove 2 nuts securing 2 engine harness earth leads.
- Release 2 engine harness grommets from 'E' box.
- Disconnect multiplugs from ignition coils.
- Disconnect multiplugs from throttle body, thermostat heater, CMP sensor and ECT sensor.
- Cut 2 cable ties and release engine harness.
- Disconnect multiplugs from VCC solenoids.
- Release VCC multiplug harness from clip.
- Disconnect multiplug from charcoal canister purge solenoid valve.
- Disconnect multiplug from alternator.
- Release alternator harness from 4 clips.
- Disconnect multiplugs from KS and CMP sensor.
- Remove 2 nuts securing fuel injector harness to fuel rail.
- Release vacuum reservoir and mounting bracket from LH fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Remove fuel hose and mounting bracket from LH fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Release alternator harness from 2 clips on engine cover mounting brackets.
- Disconnect multiplugs from fuel injectors.
- Release engine harness from clips and move clear of camshaft cover.
- Disconnect multiplug from charcoal canister purge solenoid valve.
- Remove 2 nuts securing engine harness to induction manifold
- Remove secondary air vacuum switching valve from RH fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Remove washer from fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Disconnect multiplug from RH KS.
- Disconnect multiplugs from fuel injectors.
- Reposition injector harness.
- Disconnect multiplug from inhibitor switch harness.
- Release clips securing LH oxygen sensor lead from gearbox bell housing.
- Disconnect multiplug from engine wiring harness.
- Disconnect multiplug from CKP sensor.
- Release CKP sensor lead from clip on RH side of gearbox.
- Release pre-catalyst harness leads from clips, remove multiplugs from retaining clips and disconnect.
- Release gearbox breather pipe from clip on top of gearbox.
- Release post catalyst HO2S harnesses from clips, remove multiplugs from clips and disconnect.
- Disconnect multiplug from gearbox housing.
- Note engine harness route on engine and remove harness.
- Position and correctly route engine harness to engine.
- Connect multiplug to gearbox housing.
- Connect multiplugs to post catalyst HO2S sensors and secure with clips.
- Secure gearbox breather pipe to clip on top of gearbox.
- Connect multiplugs to pre-catalyst HO2S sensors and secure with clips.
- Secure CKP sensor lead to clip on RH side of gearbox.
- Connect multiplug to CKP sensor.
- Connect multiplug to engine wiring harness.
- Fit and secure LH oxygen sensor lead to gearbox bell housing.
- Fit and secure inhibitor switch harness and connect multiplug.
- Reposition injector harness.
- Connect fuel injector harness multiplugs.
- Fit washer to fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Fit secondary air vacuum switching valve to RH fuel injector securing stud.
- Fit 2 nuts securing fuel injector harness to induction manifold and tighten.
- Connect multiplug to charcoal canister purge solenoid valve.
- Position and secure engine harness to brackets with clips.
- Connect fuel injector harness multiplugs.
- Connect alternator harness to 2 clips on engine cover mounting brackets.
- Fit fuel hose and mounting bracket to LH fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Fit vacuum reservoir and mounting bracket to LH fuel injector harness securing stud.
- Fit 2 nuts securing fuel injector harness to induction manifold and tighten.
- Connect multiplugs to knock sensors.
- Connect multiplug to CMP sensor.
- Connect alternator harness to 4 clips.
- Connect multiplug to alternator.
- Connect multiplug to charcoal canister purge solenoid valve.
- Connect VCC multiplug harness to clip.
- Connect multiplugs to valve body solenoids.
- Fit new cable ties, align and secure harness.
- Connect multiplug to CMP sensor.
- Connect multiplug to throttle body.
- Connect multiplug to alternator.
- Connect multiplugs to ECT sensors.
- Secure 2 engine harness grommets to 'E' box.
- Position 2 engine harness earth leads, fit nuts and tighten.
- Connect engine harness multiplug in 'E' box.
- Secure 3 relays to brackets in 'E' box.
- Connect engine harness multiplug in 'E' box.
- Connect 3 multiplugs to gearbox ECU.
- Connect 5 multiplugs to engine ECM.
- Fit 'E' box cover and tighten 10 securing Allen screws.
- Fit LH ignition coil cover.
- Fit RH ignition coil cover.
- Connect air intake hose.
- Connect battery earth lead.

Before disconnecting the battery, ensure all text and cautions in the battery disconnection section are observed.

- Disconnect battery earth lead.
- Remove 10 Allen screws securing 'E' box cover and remove cover.
- Depress clip and release fuse block from mounting.
- Disconnect fuse block assembly from multiplug.
- Depress clips and remove fuse block cover.
- Remove fuse.
- Fit fuse and secure fuse block cover.
- Connect multiplug to harness.
- Fit and secure fuse block to mounting.
- Fit 'E' box cover and tighten Allen screws to 2 Nm (1.5 lbf.ft).
- Connect battery earth lead.

- Disconnect 5 harness multiplugs.
- Release 6 clips securing harness to tailgate.
- Release harness gaiter from lower tailgate and withdraw harness.
- Raise and support spare wheel cover.
- Disconnect lower tailgate harness multiplug from body harness.
- Release harness gaiter from body and remove harness from vehicle.
- Position harness and secure harness clips.
- Secure harness gaiter grommets to tailgate and body.
- Connect multiplugs.
- Fit tailgate lower trim casing. «76.43.99 FINISHER -- TAILGATE -- LOWER»(ref-208059-S02822206862005120200000)
- Fit spare wheel cover.
- Connect battery earth lead.
