Scheme 1

Scheme 1: REMOVAL
  1. Remove the tie-rod end. For additional information, refer to «Tie-Rod End»(/land-rover/range-rover/iii-2-2009-2012/remont/steering-linkage/#steering-linkage) . .
  2. Remove the locknut. NOTE: Note the fitted position.
  3. Remove the steering gear boot. Release the 2 clips.

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the steering gear boot. Clean the component mating faces. Secure with the clips.
  2. Install the locknut.
  3. Install the tie-rod end. For additional information, refer to «Tie-Rod End»(/land-rover/range-rover/iii-2-2009-2012/remont/steering-linkage/#steering-linkage) . .

Scheme 2

Scheme 2: REMOVAL
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
  2. Remove the front wheel and tire.
  3. Loosen the tie rod end locking nut.
  4. Using the special tool release the tie rod end. Remove and discard the nut.
  5. Remove the tie rod end. Remove and discard the locking ring. CAUTION: Note the number of turns when removing the tie rod end to aid installation.
  1. Install the tie rod end. Install the locking ring.
  2. Secure the tie rod end. Install new nuts. Tighten new nuts to 70 Nm (52 lb.ft).
  3. Install the front wheel and tire. Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (103 lb.ft).
  4. Check, and if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
