WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES
Note. Camber, caster and steering axis inclination are not adjustable. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS table for specification.
Steering Lock-To-Lock Adjustment (Discovery)
- Measure steering stop bolt adjustment from top of stop bolt to surface of hub on lock nut side. (Scheme 1) Measurement should be 1.59" (40.5 mm). If measurement is not as specified, loosen steering stop bolt lock nut and turn stop bolt as necessary. Tighten stop bolt lock nut.
- Check clearance between inside of tire and radius arm. Turn steering wheel left and right to full lock position. Measure clearance between inside of tire and radius arm with steering at full lock position. see scheme 4 If clearance on either side is less than 0.79" (20 mm), loosen steering stop bolt lock nut. Turn steering stop bolt until clearance is as specified. Tighten steering stop bolt lock nut. Ensure number of turns required to turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock is within specification. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5224-S33803526922000081000000).

Steering Lock-To-Lock Adjustment (Discovery II)
Procedure not available from manufacturer.
Steering Wheel Lock-To-Lock Adjustment (Range Rover)
- Raise and support vehicle. See «JACKING & HOISTING»(ref-5224-S05214693692000081000000) . Loosen left side steering stop bolt lock nut. Turn stop bolt clockwise, fully into hub. Start engine and allow it to idle. Turn steering wheel right to full lock position until resistance is felt and hold (resistance is created by hydraulic limiter inside steering box).
- Turn stop bolt counterclockwise until it contacts axle. Turn stop bolt clockwise 3 flats (about one-half turn) and tighten lock nut. Center steering wheel. Turn steering wheel right to full lock position. Resistance should be felt just before axle contacts steering stop bolt. Repeat procedure for right side steering stop bolt. When completed, ensure resistance is felt just before axle contacts steering stop bolt. Ensure number of turns required to turn steering wheel from lock-to-lock is within specification. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5224-S33803526922000081000000) .
TOE ADJUSTMENT
Note. Check tires for irregular wear and proper inflation. Ensure camber, caster and steering axis inclination are within specification. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If camber, caster and steering axis inclination are not within specification, inspect suspension and repair as necessary.
