Sephia & Spectra
- Check for blown P/WINDOW LH (20-amp) or P/WINDOW RH (20-amp) fuse, located in engine compartment fuse box. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If fuses are blown, locate and repair short to ground in power window circuit. Replace fuse(s). Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Verify battery voltage to fuse. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check battery condition and power feed to fuse box. Repair as necessary. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Pink/Blue and Pink wires at master power window switch. If battery voltage exists on both circuits, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist on either circuit, repair open or short to ground in Pink/Blue wire to P/WINDOW LH fuse or in Pink wire to P/WINDOW RH fuse. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, backprobe Black wire at master power window switch. If continuity exists, replace master power window switch. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between master power window switch and chassis ground. Retest system.
Sportage
- Check for blown REAR WIPER (10-amp) fuse or P/WINDOW (30-amp) fuse, located in passenger compartment fuse box. If fuses are okay, go to next step. If fuses are blown, locate and repair short to ground in power window circuit. Replace fuse(s). Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Yellow wire terminal at power window relay. Relay is located in relay box, behind left side of instrument panel. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Yellow wire between REAR WIPER (10-amp) fuse and power window relay. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4315-S02831317642000061900000) . Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ground and Black wire terminal at power window relay. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between power window relay and chassis ground. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe White/Green wire terminal at power window relay. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in White/Green wire between P/WINDOW (30-amp) fuse and power window relay. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Black/Red wire terminal at power window relay. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power window relay. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Black/Red wire terminal at master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Black/Red wire between power window relay and master power window switch. Retest system.
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ground and Black wire terminal at master power window switch. If continuity exists, replace master power window switch. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between master power window switch and chassis ground. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Blue/Red wire at master power window switch. Completely depress left front control button, then release to activate auto-down mode. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, or changes to zero volts before window is fully lowered, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Repeat step 1) while checking for battery voltage between Blue/Red wire and Blue/Yellow wire at master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, system is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, or changes to zero volts before window is fully lowered, replace master power window switch and retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Blue/Yellow wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Blue/Red wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Blue/Yellow wire at left front window motor connector with left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Blue/Yellow wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Blue/Red wire at left front window motor connector with left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, replace window motor. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Blue/Red wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Pink wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check master power window switch operation. See «MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-4315-S04236991852000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Green wire at master power window switch while holding left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check master power window switch operation. See «MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-4315-S04236991852000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Pink wire of left front window motor with left front control button in UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Pink wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Green wire of left front window motor with left front control button in DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, check left front window motor operation. See «PASSENGER POWER WINDOW SWITCHES»(ref-4315-S34668305052000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Green wire between master power window switch and left front window motor. Retest system.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe and ensure battery voltage exists at specified wire color terminals of master power window switch while operating switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SEPHIA & SPECTRA)»(ref-4315-S01525975232000061900000) table. (Scheme 4) If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe and ensure battery voltage exists at each passenger window switch while operating master switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SEPHIA & SPECTRA)»(ref-4315-S01525975232000061900000) table. (Scheme 6) If battery voltage exists, go to «MASTER SWITCH OPERATES ALL WINDOWS/ONE OR MORE PASSENGER SWITCHES INOPERATIVE»(ref-4315-S28817883992000061900000). If battery voltage does not exist, repair appropriate power feed circuit to passenger window switch. Retest system.

WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SEPHIA & SPECTRA)
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe and ensure battery voltage exists at specified wire color terminals of master power window switch while operating switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SPORTAGE)»(ref-4315-S37486999342000061900000) table. (Scheme 5) If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check master power window switch operation. See «MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-4315-S04236991852000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe and ensure battery voltage exists at each individual passenger window switch while operating master switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SPORTAGE)»(ref-4315-S37486999342000061900000) table. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in appropriate power feed circuit to passenger window switch. Retest system.
- While operating master switch, ensure battery voltage exists at Pink wire (switch position UP), then Green wire (switch position DOWN) at each passenger window switch connector. (Scheme 7) If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at one or more switches, check appropriate window switch operation. See «PASSENGER POWER WINDOW SWITCHES»(ref-4315-S34668305052000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Retest system.
- While operating master switch, ensure battery voltage exists at Pink wire (switch position UP), then Green wire (switch position DOWN) at each passenger window motor. (Scheme 7) If battery voltage exists, replace appropriate window motor. If battery voltage does not exist at one or more motor, repair appropriate open or shorted wire between passenger window switch and window motor. Retest system.

WINDOW SWITCH POWER DISTRIBUTION (SPORTAGE)
Note. Ensure power window lock feature is off.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe Black/White wire of master power window switch. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
- Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe terminal Black/White wire at faulty window switch. If battery voltage exists, check appropriate power window switch operation. See «PASSENGER POWER WINDOW SWITCHES»(ref-4315-S34668305052000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in Black/White wire between master power window switch and passenger power window switch. Retest system.
MOTOR
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect window motor harness connector. Using fused jumper wires, connect battery voltage and ground to terminals of motor harness connector. Motor should run.
- Reverse leads. Motor should operate in opposite direction. If operation is not as specified, replace window motor.
MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH
Turn ignition off. Disconnect master power window switch harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between specified switch terminals while operating switch. See MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY (SEPHIA & SPECTRA) or MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH CONTINUITY (SPORTAGE) table. (Scheme 4)or (Scheme 5). If continuity is not as specified, replace master power window switch. Retest system.
