  1. Disconnect driver's door mirror motor. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage between power mirror motor harness connector Blue/Black, Blue and Blue/Yellow wire terminals. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4314-S33308560572000061900000) . With power mirror switch in up position, battery voltage should exist at Blue/Black wire terminal. With power mirror switch in down position, battery voltage should exist at Blue/Yellow wire. With power mirror switch in left position, battery voltage should exist at Blue wire terminal. With power mirror switch in right position, battery voltage should exist at Blue/Yellow wire.
  2. If voltage readings are as specified, check power mirror motor operation. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-4314-S21523057452000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. If voltage readings are not as specified, check power mirror switch operation. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH»(ref-4314-S03389856712000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
  1. Disconnect driver's door mirror motor. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage between power mirror motor harness connector Blue/Green, Blue/Red and Blue/Yellow wire terminals. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4314-S33308560572000061900000) . With power mirror switch in up position, battery voltage should exist at Blue/Green wire terminal. With power mirror switch in down position, battery voltage should exist at Blue/Yellow wire. With power mirror switch in left position, battery voltage should exist in Blue/Red wire terminal. With power mirror switch in right position, battery voltage should exist in Blue/Yellow wire.

POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE

  1. On Sephia and Spectra, check AUDIO (10-amp) fuse located in passenger compartment fuse box. On Sportage, check CIGAR (15-amp) fuse located in passenger compartment fuse box. If fuse is blown, check for cause of blown fuse, and repair as necessary. Replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage by backprobing power mirror switch connector Green wire (White/Red wire on Sportage). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-4314-S33308560572000061900000). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in wire.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect power mirror switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between ground and power mirror switch connector Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Black wire.
  4. Check power mirror switch. Power mirror switch is located left of steering column, in dash panel. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH»(ref-4314-S03389856712000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace power mirror switch as required. If power mirror switch is okay, go to next step.
  5. Reconnect power mirror switch connector. Disconnect suspect power mirror motor connector. (Scheme 3) Turn ignition on. With power mirror switch in specified position, check for battery voltage at specified terminals of power mirror motor connector. See «POWER MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST (SEPHIA & SPECTRA)»(ref-4314-S10923292962000100600000) or «POWER MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST (SPORTAGE)»(ref-4314-S25329088082000100600000) table. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in wiring between power mirror switch and power mirror motor connector. If battery voltage is present, check power mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-4314-S21523057452000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS.

POWER MIRROR MOTOR

Disconnect power mirror motor connector. On Sephia and Spectra, check for continuity between power mirror motor terminals No. 1 and 2, and between terminals No. 1 and 3. On Sportage, check for continuity between power mirror motor terminals No. 1, 2 and 3. (Scheme 3) If continuity exists between specified terminals, motor is okay. Reconnect power mirror motor connector. If continuity does not exist between one or more terminals, replace power mirror motor.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH

Power mirror switch is located left of steering column, in dash panel. Disconnect power mirror switch connector. With power mirror switch in specified position, ensure continuity exists between specified terminals. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST (SEPHIA & SPECTRA) or POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST (SPORTAGE) table. (Scheme 4)or (Scheme 5). Replace switch if continuity is not as specified.
