MAGNETIC CLUTCH OPERATION
Connect the compressor terminal to battery (+) and the battery (-) terminal to the compressor body. Verify magnetic clutch operation by a clicking noise.
Scheme 7
OIL RETURN OPERATION
To check the oil level or add the oil, idle the engine for 20-30 minutes with the controls set to maximum cooling and blower level, to return the lubricant to compressor.
DESCRIPTION & TESTING
The photo sensor is located by the driver side defrost nozzle. In response to photo intensity level in vehicle, the sensor will send signal to control module to control the blower level and discharge temperature.
Note. Emit intensive light toward driver side and passenger side using a lamp, and check the voltage change between terminals 1 and 2.

- The air temperature sensor is located at the front of the engine radiator and detects ambient air temperature. The air temperature sensor is a negative type thermistor. Resistance will increase with lower temperatures, and decrease with higher temperatures.
- The sensor output will be used for discharge temperature sensor, sensor fail-safe, temperature regulation door control, blower motor level control, mix mode control and in-car humidity control.

- Temperature control actuator is installed in the heater unit case. The control switches and the vent duct switch will operate actuator to regulate the temperature and discharge air.
- Verify that the temperature control actuator operates to the warm position when connecting 12V to the terminal 1 and grounding terminal 2.
- Verify that the temperature control actuator operates to the cool position when connecting in the reverse.
- Check temperature control actuator terminal voltage check.
DESCRIPTION
The intake selection switch is located on the control panel. Pressing the switch will shift between recirculation and fresh air modes.

- Humidity sensor is located at crush pad and detects in-car humidity for in-car humidity control.
- If ambient air temperature or in-car humidity is outside certain range, it will turn on A/C to control in-car humidity preventing in-car fogging. NOTE: Air conditioner operation depends on ambient temperature and humidity.
OPERATION METHOD (SELF-DIAGNOSIS)
The Full Automatic Air Conditioner (FATC) module self test feature will detect electrical malfunction and provide error codes for system components with suspected failures.

SWITCH OPERATION AND FEATURES
- Full auto air conditioning system: One-touch button type.
- Manual air conditioning system: Combination of dial switch and one-touch button.
CONTROL PANEL SWITCH FUNCTION/SYSTEM OPERATION
Note. Control panel switches will generate buzzer sound on operation.

- Defrost logic NOTE: At initial battery on, the A/C is off and the intake is changed to fresh status. At blower switch off, the intake is changed to fresh status. The A/C button enables to change the A/C button indicator status, but A/C output is always on at defrost and mix mode.
- Dissolution and reinstatement of logic NOTE: When the battery happens to be disconnected or discharged, the logic is reinstated. Turn off the blower switch. Move to defrost mode. Press the recirculation button 5 times within 3 seconds, keeping A/C button selected. Indicator of recirculation button is flashed 3 times. Dissolution and reinstatement of logic is completed. A/C and intake status is initialized to "A/C off" and "fresh status".
