POWER MIRROR MOTOR

Disconnect power mirror motor connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between power mirror motor terminals No. 1, 2 and 3. (Scheme 1) If continuity exists between specified terminals, motor is okay. Reconnect power mirror motor connector. If continuity does not exist between one or more terminals, replace power mirror motor.

POWER MIRROR SWITCH

Note. On Sephia, power mirror switch may also be referred to as the power mirror controller.

Power mirror switch is located left of steering column in dash panel. Disconnect power mirror switch connector. With power mirror switch in specified position, ensure continuity exists between specified terminals. See appropriate POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST table. (Scheme 2) Replace switch if continuity is not as specified.

POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE

  1. On Sephia, check AUDIO (10-amp) fuse located in passenger compartment fuse box. On Sportage, check CIGAR (15-amp) fuse located in passenger compartment fuse box. If fuse is blown, check for cause of blown fuse, and repair as necessary. Replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage by backprobing power mirror switch connector Green wire (White/Red wire on Sportage). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in wire.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect power mirror switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between ground and power mirror switch connector Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Black wire.
  4. Check power mirror switch. Power mirror switch is located left of steering column, in dash panel. See «POWER MIRROR SWITCH»(ref-4304-S30126882702000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace power mirror switch as required. If power mirror switch is okay, go to next step.
  5. Reconnect power mirror switch connector. Disconnect suspect power mirror motor connector. (Scheme 1) Turn ignition on. With power mirror switch in specified position, check for battery voltage at specified terminals of power mirror motor connector. See appropriate POWER MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST table. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in wiring between power mirror switch and power mirror motor connector. If battery voltage is present, check power mirror motor. See «POWER MIRROR MOTOR»(ref-4304-S37470779652000061900000) under COMPONENT TESTS.
