SERVICE INTERVALS
Inspect transaxle fluid every 15,000 miles. Under normal conditions, change transaxle fluid every 105,000 miles. Under severe conditions, change transaxle fluid every 30,000 miles.
CHECKING FLUID LEVEL
Note. Only use the COLD fluid scale on the dipstick if the vehicle has not been running and the outside temperature is approximately 77°F (25°C).
Drive vehicle for 30 minutes to warm up fluid to normal temperature. Park vehicle on a level surface and set parking brake. Allow engine to idle for 2 minutes, then apply the brake pedal. Move shift lever through all ranges slowly and then set it in Park. With engine idling, pull out dipstick, wipe it clean and reinsert it. Pull dipstick out. Check that the fluid level is within the HOT range, approximately 167°F (75°C), on the dipstick. If necessary, add appropriate transaxle fluid to proper level. See RECOMMENDED FLUIDS .

RECOMMENDED FLUIDS
DRAINING & REFILLING
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove drain plug located at the bottom front center of the transaxle.
- Allow fluid to completely drain. Install drain plug and NEW washer. Tighten to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-158256-S30699758102003091800000) .
- Lower the vehicle. Remove transaxle dipstick located near the center of engine compartment bulkhead and, using a funnel, add approximately 2 Qts. (2L) of transaxle fluid. See «RECOMMENDED FLUIDS»(ref-158256-S09890149502003091800000) . CAUTION: Do not overfill. Overfilling the transaxle can cause a seal to blow, loss of fluid and damage to the transaxle. Drain excess fluid prior to driving the vehicle.
- Check fluid level and fill as necessary. Install dipstick and properly dispose of the used transaxle fluid.
