Seat Electrical - Except Hev: Removal & Installation Kia Optima III

Installation

Note. Make sure that the IMS control switch connectors and related connectors are plugged in properly. Check the IMS control switch operates normally.

  1. Connect the connectors and reassemble the IMS control switch.
  2. Reassemble the seat side cover.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the floor console upper cover. Refer to «CONSOLE»(ref-429563-S42679254862011101500000) .
  3. Remove the seat heater switch connectors from the floor console upper cover (A).
  4. Operate each seat heater switch and check that continuity exists between the terminals. If there is no continuity, replace the seat heater switch A/T M/T

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the rear door trim. Refer to «REAR DOOR»(ref-429575-S24740005352011101500000) .
  3. Remove the power window switch (A).
  4. Turn rear seat heater switch ON and check that continuity exists between the terminals. If there is no continuity, replace the seat heater switch.
  1. Install the seat heater switch.
  2. Install the power window switch.
  3. Install the rear door trim.

  1. Check for continuity and measure the resistance between No. 4 and No. 6 terminals. Cushion FIRST SEAT HEATER DESCRIPTION CHART No. Description 1 NTC 2 - 3 NTC 4 GND 5 GND 6 VCC Back Standard value (Fabric / Leather) Cushion : 3.89 ohms ± 10% Back: 3.11 ohms ± 10% / 4.13 ohms ± 10% Set : 7.0 ohms ± 10% / 8.9 ohms ± 10%
  2. Operate the seat heater after connecting the connector, and then check the thermostat by measuring the temperature of seat surface. Standard value (Fabric / Leather) Cushion: 1 Step : 40 ± 2°C (104 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 42 ± 2°C (107.6 ± 3.6°F) Back: 1 Step : 46 ± 2°C (114.8 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 52 ± 2°C (125.6 ± 3.6°F)

  1. Check for continuity and measure the resistance between No. 4 and No. 6 terminals. Cushion CUSHION DESCRIPTION CHART No. Description 1 Heater (-) 2 NTC (-) 3 NTC (+) 4 Heater (+) Back
  2. Measure the resistance between No. 1 and No. 4 in the A connector to check the cushion and back heater. Standard value Set (Cushion+Back) : 2.65ohms ± 10%
  3. Measure the resistance between No. 4 in the A and No. 1 in the B connector to check the cushion heater. Standard value Cushion : 1.3ohms ± 10%
  4. Measure the resistance between No. 1 and No. 2 in the C connector to check the back heater. Standard value Back : 1.35ohms ± 10%
  5. Operate the seat heater after connecting the connector, and then check the thermostat by measuring the temperature of seat surface. Standard value (Fabric / Leather) Cushion: 1 Step : 40 ± 2°C (104 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 42 ± 2°C (107.6 ± 3.6°F) Back: 1 Step : 46 ± 2°C (114.8 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 52 ± 2°C (125.6 ± 3.6°F)

Scheme 93: Rear Seat Heater
  1. Check for continuity and measure the resistance between terminals as below. * Refer to «Circuit Diagram»(ref-429594-S12333256822011101500000) to check the connector B and C.
  2. Measure the resistance between No. 1 and No. 2 in the A connector to check the cushion and back heater. Standard value Set (Cushion+Back) - Bench type : 2.90ohms ± 10% Cushion - Split type : 8.0ohms ± 10%
  3. Measure the resistance between No. 3 in the A and No. 1 in the B connector to check the cushion heater. Standard value Cushion - Bench type : 2.2ohms ± 10%
  4. Measure the resistance between No. 1 and No. 2 in the C connector to check the back heater. Standard value Back - Bench type : 1.7ohms ± 10%
  5. Operate seat warmer after connecting the 4P connector, and then check the thermostat by measuring the temperature of seat surface. Standard value (Fabric / Leather) Cushion: 1 Step : 40 ± 2°C (104 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 42 ± 2°C (107.6 ± 3.6°F) Back: 1 Step : 46 ± 2°C (114.8 ± 3.6°F) 2 Step : 52 ± 2°C (125.6 ± 3.6°F)
