Transmission/Transaxle
Check transmission fluid at every engine oil change. Under normal conditions, replace fluid every 30,000 miles. Under severe conditions, replace fluid every 15,000 miles.
Transfer Case
Check transfer case fluid at every engine oil change. Under normal conditions, replace fluid every 30,000 miles. Under severe conditions, replace fluid every 15,000 miles. Replace fluid if unusual odor and/or discoloration is present.
Rio
Raise and support vehicle. Ensure vehicle is level. Remove speedometer driven gear. Verify oil level is within specification. (Scheme 1) Add recommended fluid as necessary, through speedometer driven gear. See RECOMMENDED FLUID. Reinstall speedometer driven gear. Lower vehicle.

Optima & Magentis (Canadian), Sephia & Spectra
Raise and support vehicle. Ensure vehicle is level. Remove oil check/fill plug and washer. Verify oil level is near bottom of oil check/fill plug hole. Add recommended fluid as necessary. See RECOMMENDED FLUID . Reinstall oil/check fill plug with new washer. Tighten oil check/fill plug specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Sportage
Raise and support vehicle in level position. Remove oil check/fill plug. Oil level should be even with bottom of oil check/fill plug hole. Add recommended fluid as necessary. See RECOMMENDED FLUID . Reinstall oil check/fill plug with new washer. Tighten oil check/fill plug to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

Use API GL4 or GL5/SAE 75W-90 gear oil.
Use 90W gear oil.
