EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution)
The EBD is additionally applied instead of the proportioning valve to make the ideal distribution of a fluid pressure to the front and rear brake to prevent the brakes from skidding in the event of rear wheel lock and to obtain a higher brake efficiency within the range of service brake application.

TCS FUNCTION
- Driving control When the drive wheel speed exceeds the vehicle speed by a given amount, the HECU judges that the drive wheels are slipping, and it outputs the traction control signal to reduce engine power.
- Rough road control Based on signals from the wheel sensors, the control unit detects a rough road based on frequency of wheel rotational vibration. The control unit then signals the TCS control valve actuator and ECM to relax engine power, thus improving acceleration efficiency.
- Grip control Based on signals about wheel speed, the control unit determines the efficiency of the grip of the tires on the road and signals the TCS control valve actuator and ECM relax engine power if necessary, thus improving grip.

- Disconnect the HECU (Hydraulic and Electronic Control Unit) connector.
- Disconnect the brake tubes from the HECU.
- Remove the HECU bracket mounting bolt and remove the HECU. CAUTION: Never attempt to disassemble the HECU. The HECU must be transported and stored in upright position and with sealed ports. The HECU must not be drained. It will cause the HECU to fail if you don't keep.
BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM
This procedure should be used to insure adequate bleeding and filling of ABS unit, brake lines, master cylinder.

- Remove the reservoir cap and fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid. CAUTION: Do not allow brake fluid to remain on a painted surface. Wash it off immediately. NOTE: When bleeding by pressured fluid, do not depress the brake pedal. Recommended fluid: DOT3 or equivalent
- Connect the clear plastic tube to the wheel cylinder bleeder plug and insert the other end of tube in a half filled clear plastic bottle.
- Connect Hi-Scan to Data Link Connector located underneath the dash panel.
- Select and operate according to the instruction on the Hi-Scan screen. CAUTION: You have to obey maximum operating time (60 sec.) of ABS motor with Hi-Scan to prevent motor pump burnt. Do not exceed the maximum pump operating time (60 seconds maximum) when operating the ABS motor with the scan tool. If the pump operating time is exceeded, damage to the pump motor could occur.
- Pump the brake pedal several times, and then loosen the bleeder screw until fluid starts to run out without bubbles. Then close the bleeder screw.
- Repeat previous step until there are no more bubbles in the fluid for each wheel in the sequence shown in the illustration.
- Tighten the bleeder screw to 7-13 N.m (70-130 kg. cm, 5-9.6 lb. ft).

Using the customer problem analysis check sheet for reference, ask the customer in as much detail as possible about the problem.
CONNECTOR CHECK
- Remove the battery negative (-) terminal.
- Disconnect the connectors and check terminals follow the troubleshooting procedure. NOTE: When you check terminals, be sure to use enough small pin which is not damaged to the connector terminals.
