Body Identification
DESCRIPTION
Note. Self-diagnostic tests are written specifically for Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) scan tool. A generic scan tool may not be capable of performing all necessary test functions.
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that either communicate over the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus system or Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus system. Through the CCD (Cherokee and Wrangler) or PCI (Grand Cherokee) bus, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.

Body control computer fault messages are accessed through 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) scan tool or generic scan tool. DLC is located on left side of steering column, above brake pedal. (Scheme 2)

Note. For terminal identification of body control system connectors (Scheme 3)- (Scheme 42). Connector terminal numbers are molded into connectors. If connector terminal identification differs from that shown in figure, use wire colors to ensure correct circuit is being tested.
