ENGINE MECHANICAL
Before performing any on-vehicle adjustments to fuel or ignition systems, ensure engine mechanical condition is okay.
Note. Engine Control Module (ECM) and Engine Control Module (ECM) are used interchangeably in this article.
ADJUSTING VALVE CLEARANCE

IGNITION TIMING
Ignition timing is electronically controlled by Engine Control Module (ECM). No adjustment is necessary.
IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE
Note. Idle speed and mixture are electronically controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM). Values given in the IDLE SPEED & CO LEVEL table are for verification purposes only.

THROTTLE PLATE
Information is not available from manufacturer.
THROTTLE CABLE
Note. This procedure is only relevant when fitting a NEW cable.
- Install throttle cable and adjust the lock nuts to achieve the specified gap between the quadrant and throttle stop. (Scheme 1) Tighten the lock nut without altering the setting or introducing twist into the cable.
- Operate the throttle pedal through full range of travel for a minimum of 20 (twenty) cycles to condition the cable.
- Check the quadrant/stop relationship to ensure contact without slack or tension. Under no circumstances may the quadrant be held clear of the throttle stop by cable tension. Adjust the lock nuts to attain proper setting. (Scheme 2)

KICKDOWN SWITCH
- Connect scan tool to vehicle. Navigate through CURRENT POWERTRAIN DATA to PID 120F (pedal demand).
- Push the accelerator pedal until light contact is made with the kickdown switch ensuring that contact with the switch does not result in switch movement.
- If PID value indicated on the scan tool is 3.66-3.76 volts (2F9 + or - A hex), no further action is required. If the value indicated is not 3.66-3.76 volts (2F9 + or - A hex), go to next step.
- Pull the carpet from around the kickdown switch and disconnect the kickdown switch harness connector to avoid twisting the harness as the switch is rotated. (Scheme 3)
- Adjust the switch to attain the proper scan tool reading. Reconnect the kickdown switch harness connector and verify the setting.
