Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System: Removal & Installation Jaguar XF I

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the front subframe.
  2. Install the special tool.
  3. Install the front subframe rear retaining bolt. Tighten to 80 Nm + 240°.
  4. Remove the special tool.
  5. Install the front subframe front retaining bolt. Tighten to 150 Nm + 240°.
  6. Remove the special tool.
  7. Install the engine mount retaining nut. Tighten to 63 Nm.
  8. Install the rear lower arm.
  9. Install the front lower arm.
  10. Install the steering gear. Tighten to 100 Nm.
  11. Install the stabilizer bar link.
  12. Attach the stabilizer bar link and install the stabilizer bar link retaining nut. Tighten to 43 Nm.
  13. Attach the power steering hose retaining clip to the front subframe.
  14. Install the right-hand splash shield.
  15. Install the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Radiator Splash Shield»(ref-568406-S39527244732013072200000) information.
  16. Install the air deflector. Refer to «Air Deflector»(ref-568406-S42840487662013072200000) information.
  17. Install both the front wheels and tires. Refer to «Wheel and Tire»(ref-568392-S08144059512013072200000) information.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Tighten to 70 Nm.
  20. Tighten the front lower arm retaining nut and bolt. Tighten to 175 Nm.
  21. Tighten the rear lower arm retaining nut and bolt. Tighten to 175 Nm.
  22. Remove the special tool.
  23. Remove the special tool.
  24. Install the throttle body. Refer to «Throttle Body»(ref-568402-S35908595872013072200000) information.
  25. Remove the radiator support.
  26. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Battery Disconnect and Connect»(ref-568400-S03532047432013072200000) information.
  27. Using only four-wheel alignment equipment approved by Jaguar, check and adjust the wheel alignment. Refer to «Camber and Caster Adjustment»(ref-568501-S42403211502013072200000) information.

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Battery Disconnect and Connect»(ref-568400-S03532047432013072200000) information.
  2. Using suitable tie straps, secure the radiator.
  3. Remove the air filter outlet tube. Refer to «Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe»(ref-568403-S10379521072013072200000) information.
  4. Install the special tools.
  5. Install the special tool.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle.
  7. Remove both the front wheels and tires. Refer to «Wheel and Tire»(ref-568392-S08144059512013072200000) information.
  8. Remove the air deflector. Refer to «Air Deflector»(ref-568406-S42840487662013072200000) information.
  9. Remove the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Radiator Splash Shield»(ref-568406-S39527244732013072200000) information.
  10. Remove the right-hand splash shield.
  11. Detach the power steering hose retaining clip from the front subframe.
  12. Remove the stabilizer bar link upper retaining nut.
  13. Remove the stabilizer bar link lower retaining bolt and nut and remove the stabilizer bar link.
  14. Detach the steering gear. Secure the steering gear.
  15. Release the front lower arm and position it to one side. Mark the position of the bolt.
  16. Release the rear lower arm and position it to one side.
  17. Remove the engine mount retaining nut.
  18. Install the special tool to the front subframe.
  19. Remove the front subframe front retaining bolt.
  20. Remove the front subframe rear retaining bolt.
  21. Remove the front subframe.
  1. Install the front subframe.
  2. Install the special tool.
  3. Install the front subframe rear retaining bolt. Tighten to 80 Nm + 240°.
  4. Remove the special tool.
  5. Install the front subframe front retaining bolt. Tighten to 150 Nm + 240°.
  6. Remove the special tool.
  7. Install the engine mount retaining nut. Tighten to 63 Nm.
  8. Install the rear lower arm.
  9. Install the front lower arm.
  10. Install the steering gear. Tighten to 100 Nm.
  11. Install the stabilizer bar link.
  12. Attach the stabilizer bar link and install the stabilizer bar link retaining nut. Tighten to 43 Nm.
  13. Attach the power steering hose retaining clip to the front subframe.
  14. Install the right-hand splash shield.
  15. Install the radiator splash shield. Refer to «Radiator Splash Shield»(ref-568406-S39527244732013072200000) information.
  16. Install the air deflector. Refer to «Air Deflector»(ref-568406-S42840487662013072200000) information.
  17. Install both the front wheels and tires. Refer to «Wheel and Tire»(ref-568392-S08144059512013072200000) information.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Tighten the front lower arm retaining nut and bolt. Tighten to 175 Nm.
  20. Tighten the rear lower arm retaining nut and bolt. Tighten to 175 Nm.
  21. Tighten to 70 Nm.
  22. Remove the special tool.
  23. Remove the special tool.
  24. Install the air filter outlet tube. Refer to «Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe»(ref-568403-S10379521072013072200000) information.
  25. Remove the radiator support.
  26. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Battery Disconnect and Connect»(ref-568400-S03532047432013072200000) information.
  27. Using only four-wheel alignment equipment approved by Jaguar, check and adjust the wheel alignment. Refer to «Camber and Caster Adjustment»(ref-568501-S42403211502013072200000) information.

Note. Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

  4. Install the special tool to the front subframe. Special Tool(s): 502-005

  8. Torque: 175 Nm
  9. Torque: 43 Nm
  10. Torque: 43 Nm
  11. Torque: 22 Nm
  12. Torque: 5 Nm
  13. Special Tool(s): 303-1436
  14. Release the radiator assembly.
  15. Refer to «Engine Cover - 5.0L»(ref-568405-S41842828132013072200000) information.

  1. Install the rear subframe.
  2. Loosely install the rear subframe front bolt.
  3. Loosely install the rear subframe reinforcement plate bolts.
  4. Tighten to retaining bolt. Tighten to 80 Nm. Tighten a further 240 degrees.
  5. Install the rear subframe rear retaining bolt. Tighten to 125 Nm.
  6. Remove the special tool.
  7. Install the rear subframe reinforcement plate retaining bolts. Tighten to 47 Nm.
  8. Install the shock absorber. Tighten to 133 Nm.
  9. Connect the fuel filler hose.
  10. Attach the wiring harness.
  11. Connect the electric parking brake electrical connector.
  12. Install both upper arms. Refer to «Upper Arm»(ref-568502-S33165551462013072200000) information.
  13. Install the axle assembly. Refer to «Axle Assembly»(ref-568471-S23383778052013072200000) information.
  14. Install the exhaust system. Refer to «Exhaust System»(ref-568446-S18895991552013072200000) for 4.2L and «Exhaust System»(ref-568457-S20419321462013072200000) for 5.0L information.
  15. Refill the fuel tank.
  16. Using only four-wheel alignment equipment approved by Jaguar, check the wheel alignment, and adjust if required.
