Scheme 91: Steering Linkage

The left and right-hand tie-rod assemblies

  1. Transmit steering forces from the steering gear to the wheel hubs.
  2. Provide front road wheel toe setting by adjustment of the threaded outer tie-rod ends.

Note. Steering geometry adjustments must only be carried out with the vehicle on turn plates to allow the wheels to move during adjustment.

The left and right-hand steering rack boots

  1. Are installed between the steering rack and the tie-rod ends.
  2. Are of the concertina type.
  3. Retain lubricant and prevent the ingress of foreign matter.

  2. Remove the steering gear boot. Remove and discard the steering gear boot retaining clamp. Detach the steering gear boot retaining clamp. Remove the steering gear boot.
