AUDIO SYSTEM - VEHICLES FROM 2009MY
The entertainment system on vehicles from 2009MY is further enhanced by the addition of Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) radio. DAB radio gives access to digital radio channels which provide increased sound quality and functionality over conventional AM/FM radio reception. The DAB system is only available in European markets.
The DAB system is controlled by a DAB module. The module is located in the side of the luggage compartment. The module is attached below the CD autochanger, at the bottom of a stack bracket which houses all of the entertainment system modules. The DAB module receives digital broadcast signals via a DAB antenna located in the roof pod antenna module on the vehicle roof and also from antennae located in the side window on the wagon and in the rear window on the 4 door vehicle. The DAB module is connected to the gateway module via a Media Orientated System Transport (MOST) network. Digital signal information is passed from the DAB module to the gateway module via the MOST network. The gateway module processes the signals and passes them to the audio unit via the D2B network. The gateway module is also located in the side of the luggage compartment. On 4 door vehicles the gateway module is positioned in the stack bracket above the navigation computer. On wagon vehicles the gateway module is mounted on the side of the stack bracket facing the rear of the vehicle.
