COMPONENT LOCATIONS (SLX & TROOPER)

SYSTEM TESTS

Note. Before any testing, ensure battery is fully charged and electrical connections are clean and tight.

Note. Refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS to assist testing procedures.

Amigo

  1. Check BACKUP/TURN fuse (15-amp) located in dash fuse box. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck system operation. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Use DVOM and check continuity of C/B-21 POWER WINDOW (30-amp) circuit breaker located in dash fuse box. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. If circuit breaker tests bad, replace and recheck system operation.
  3. Ensure ground connection B-8 is secure. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  4. Remove power window relay from dash fuse box. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 2 (Green/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Green/White wire between power window relay and power window circuit breaker. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 3 (White/Green wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 8). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  7. Repair open in White/Green wire between power window relay and ELEC IG fuse (15-amp). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  8. Use DVOM and check for continuity between power window relay cavity terminal No. 4 and ground B-8 (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, replace power window relay. If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  9. Repair open in Black wire between power window relay and ground B-8. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch and disconnect electrical connectors. Connect test light between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light comes on, go to step 7). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  2. Remove POWER WINDOW circuit breaker from Body Bussed Electrical Center (BBEC). Connect a self-powered test light between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If test light comes on, go to step 4). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  3. Repair power feed to POWER WINDOW circuit breaker. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  4. Connect DVOM between circuit breaker terminals and measure resistance. If reading is greater than .5 ohm, go to step 6). If reading is less than .5 ohm, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Dark Green wire between BBEC and driver's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Replace circuit breaker. Locate and repair short to ground in Dark Green wire between BBEC and driver's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  7. Connect self-powered test light between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "C" (Black wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 9).
  8. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  9. Repair open in Black wire between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After replacement, recheck system operation.

Passport & Rodeo

  1. Check ELEC IG fuse (15-amp) located in dash fuse box. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck system operation. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Use DVOM and check continuity of POWER WINDOW (30-amp) circuit breaker located in dash fuse box. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. If circuit breaker tests bad, replace and recheck system operation.
  3. Ensure ground connection B-8 is secure. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  4. Remove power window relay from dash fuse box. Check power window relay for proper operation. Replace if necessary. If relay is okay, go to next step.
  5. Use a DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 2 (Green/White wire). Refer to the «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, repair open in Green/White wire between power window relay and power window circuit breaker. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 4 (White/Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 7). If battery voltage is not indicated, repair open in White/Blue wire between power window relay and ELEC IG fuse(15-amp). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  7. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and door lock and side window switch connector terminal No. 4 (Green/Red wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, repair open in Green/Red wire between door lock and side window switch and power window relay. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  8. Use DVOM and check for continuity between power window relay cavity terminal No. 4 and ground, and driver's door lock and side window switch connector terminal No. 7 and ground (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair open in Black wire.
  9. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  1. Check C-4 ELEC IGN fuse (15-amp) located in dash fuse box. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck system operation.
  2. Use DVOM and check continuity of C/B-2 (P/W, P/S, S/R) circuit breaker located in dash fuse box. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step. If circuit breaker tests bad, replace and recheck system operation.
  3. Ensure ground connection B-19 is secure. Refer to «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect power window relay located in dash fuse box. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 2 (Black/Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Black/Blue wire between C/B-2 circuit breaker and power window relay located in dash fuse box. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, go to step 4).
  6. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 1 (Blue/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 8). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  7. Repair open in Blue/White wire between C-4 ELEC IGN fuse and power window relay located in dash fuse box. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 6).
  8. Use DVOM to check for continuity between ground and power window relay cavity terminal No. 3 (Black wire). If continuity is indicated, replace power window relay. If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  9. Repair open in Black wire between ground connection B-19 and power window relay located in dash fuse box. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove driver's power window and lock switch and disconnect. Use DVOM and check for continuity between driver's side power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 7 and ground (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to step 3). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  2. Repair poor connection at ground terminal B-8 or open in Black wire. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 1).
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Green/Red wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Green/Red wire between power window relay and driver's power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . after repairs, repeat step 3).
  5. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Brown/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Reverse connections. If power motor operates in both directions, replace driver's power window and door lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window motor connector terminal No. 1. Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window motor connector terminal No. 2. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Reverse connections. If power motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace driver's power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Repair open in Brown/Red or Brown/White wires between driver's power window and lock switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch. DO NOT disconnect electrical connectors. Use test light and backprobe between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light comes on, go to step 7). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Dark Green wire between BBEC and driver's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Use test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). Depress driver's side window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in either position, go to step 7). If test light does not come on in either position, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect driver's door lock and side window switch connector. Use DVOM to measure resistance between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If reading is greater than .4 ohm, go to step 6). If resistance is less than .4 ohm, go to next step.
  5. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue or Brown wire between switch and regulator motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  7. With switch still connected, backprobe with test light between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress driver's side window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in either position, go to next step. If test light does not come on in either position, go to step 6).
  8. Use a self-powered test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  9. Use a self-powered test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  10. Disconnect driver's door lock and side window switch connector. Use DVOM to measure resistance between driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If DVOM indicates an open circuit, go to next step. If DVOM does not indicate and open circuit, go to step 12).
  11. Repair open in Dark Blue or Brown wire between switch and regulator motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If circuits are okay, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove power window and lock switch. DO NOT remove connector. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Green/Red wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, repair open in Green/Red wire between power window and lock switch and power window relay. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  2. Use DVOM and check for continuity between driver's side power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 7 and ground (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair poor connection at ground B-8 or open in Black wire. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Disconnect driver's power window and lock switch. Momentarily connect fused jumper between driver's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Brown/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If power window motor does not move to up position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace driver's power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor moves to up position, go to next step.
  4. Momentarily connect fused jumper between driver's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Brown/White wire). Connect jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Red wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If power window motor does not move to down position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace driver's power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor moves to down position, replace driver's power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  1. Ensure ground connection B-18 is secure. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect driver's power window and lock switch. Use DVOM and check for continuity between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 1 (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to step 4). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  3. Repair open in Black wire between driver's power window and lock switch and ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 7 (Blue/Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Blue/Black wire between power window relay and driver's power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 5 (Blue/White wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector D-5 terminal No. 6 (Blue wire). Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, replace driver's power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and driver's power window motor Blue wire connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and driver's power window motor White wire connector. Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  8. Repair open in Blue/White or Blue wires between driver's power window and lock switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.

AUTO-DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE

Replace driver's power window and lock switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.

  1. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch and disconnect electrical connectors. Use test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 3).
  2. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue or Brown wire between switch and regulator motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch. DO NOT disconnect electrical connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON then OFF positions. Use test light and backprobe between driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminals "B" (Light Blue wire) and "D" (Tan wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress window switch in up and down positions. If test light comes on in both positions, go to step 3). If test light does not come on in both positions, go to next step.
  2. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  3. Remove passenger's door lock and side window switch. DO NOT disconnect electrical connectors. Use test light and backprobe between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "J" (Light Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress driver's window switch to up position. If test light comes on, go to step 5). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Light Blue wire between driver's and passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  5. Use test light and backprobe between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "L" (Tan wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress driver's window switch to down position. If test light comes on, go to step 7). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  6. Repair open in Tan wire between driver's and passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  7. Replace passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  1. Disconnect driver's power window and door lock switch connector D-30. Disconnect passenger's power window and door lock switch connector. Use DVOM and check for continuity between driver's power window and door lock switch connector D-30 terminal No. 5 and passenger's power window and door lock switch connector terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire). If continuity is indicated, replace driver's power window and door lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Red/Yellow wire between driver's and passenger's power window and door lock switches. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove passenger's door lock and side window switch. DO NOT disconnect electrical connectors. Use test light and backprobe between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "F" (Dark Green wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light comes on, go to step 3). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Dark Green wire between BBEC and passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Use test light and backprobe between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "G" (Light Blue wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress passenger's window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in both positions, go to step 5). If test light does not come on in both directions, go to next step.
  4. Replace passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  5. Use test light and backprobe between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "K" (Brown wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Depress passenger's window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not come on in both directions, go to step 4).
  6. Check for open in Dark Blue wire between switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If circuit is okay, replace passenger's power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove passenger's door lock and side window switch. Connect a self-powered test light between passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminals "G" (Dark Blue wire) and "K" (Brown wire).   2. Check for open in Dark Blue or Brown wires between passenger's door lock and side window switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation. If circuits are okay, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  3. Connect a self-powered test light between passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminals "J" (Light Blue wire) and "L" (Tan wire). If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 5). 4) Replace passenger's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  4. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch. Connect a self-powered test light between driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminals "B" (Light Blue wire) and "D" (Tan wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If test light comes on, go to step 7). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  5. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  6. Repair open in Light Blue or Tan wires between driver's door lock and side window switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  7. Turn ignition switch to ON then to OFF positions. Connect test light between ground and passenger's door lock and side window switch connector C1 terminal "F" (Dark Green wire). If test light comes on, system is okay. If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  8. Repair open in Dark Green wire between passenger's door lock and side window switch and BBEC. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove and disconnect passenger's power window and lock switch. Use DVOM and check for continuity between passenger's side power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 and ground (Black wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to step 3). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  2. Repair poor connection at ground B-8 or open in Black wire. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 1).
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Red wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 5). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Green/Red wire between power window relay and passenger's power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . after repairs, repeat step 3).
  5. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Reverse connections. If power motor operates in both directions, replace passenger's power window and door lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and passenger's power window motor connector terminal No. 1. Connect jumper wire between ground and passenger's power window motor connector terminal No. 2. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . Reverse connections. If power motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace passenger's power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Repair open in Brown/Red or Brown/White wires between passenger's power window and lock switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Remove passenger's power window and lock switch. DO NOT remove connector. Use DVOM and measure voltage between ground and power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 2 (Green/Red wire).   2. Use DVOM and check for continuity between passenger's side power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 and ground (Black wire).   3. Disconnect passenger's power window and lock switch. Momentarily connect fused jumper between suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If power window motor does not move to up position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace passenger's power window motor.   4. Momentarily connect fused jumper between passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/White wire). Connect jumper wire between rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Red wire). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If power window motor does not move to down position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace passenger's power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor moves to down position, replace passenger's power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  1. Ensure ground connection B-2 is secure. See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . Repair if necessary. If ground connection is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect passenger's front power window and lock switch. Use DVOM to check for continuity between ground and passenger's front power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 7 (Black wire). If continuity is indicated, go to step 4). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  3. Repair open in Black wire between ground connection B-2 and passenger's front power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 2).
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM to measure voltage between ground and passenger's front power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Blue/Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If battery voltage is not indicated, go to next step.
  5. Repair open in Blue/Black wire between power window relay and passenger's front power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 4).
  6. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/Yellow wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and passenger's power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 10 (Blue/Yellow wire). Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, replace power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect passenger's power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and passenger's power window motor Blue wire connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and passenger's power window motor White wire connector. Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  8. Repair open in Blue/Yellow or Brown/Yellow wires between passenger's power window and lock switch and power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  1. Ensure driver's power window operates normally. If driver's power window is okay, go to next step. If driver's power window does not function properly, go to «DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW INOPERATIVE»(ref-32632-S32046745672001010900000) .
  2. Disconnect suspect rear power window and lock switch. Momentarily connect fused jumper between suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Brown/Red wire). If power window motor does not move to up position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace suspect rear power window motor.   3. Momentarily connect fused jumper between suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/White wire). If power window motor does not move to down position, check for open wires or poor connections at switch. If circuits are okay, replace suspect rear power window motor.   1. Disconnect suspect rear power window and lock switch. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DVOM to measure voltage between ground and suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 4 (Blue/Black wire, driver's or passenger's side). See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . If battery voltage is indicated at suspect switch connector, go to step 3). If battery voltage is not indicated at suspect switch connector, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Blue/Black wire between suspect switch and power window relay. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 1).
  3. Use DVOM to check for continuity between ground connection B-26 and suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire). See «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-32632-S37026303662001010900000) . If continuity is indicated, go to step 5). If continuity is not indicated, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Black wire between ground connection B-26 and suspect window rear power window and lock switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, repeat step 3).
  5. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 5 (Blue/Red wire). Connect jumper wire between ground and suspect rear power window and lock switch connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/Red wire). Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, replace suspect rear power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect suspect rear power window motor connector. Momentarily connect fused jumper between battery voltage and rear power window motor Blue wire connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and rear power window motor White wire connector. Reverse connections. If power window motor operates in both directions, go to next step. If power window motor does not operate in both directions, replace power window motor. See «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-32632-S13102842472001010900000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Repair open in Blue/Red or Brown/Red wires between suspect rear power window and lock switch and rear power window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-32632-S08779042332001010900000) . After repairs, recheck system operation.

Amigo, Passport, Rodeo, SLX & Trooper

If power window lock out switch fails to lock out passenger and rear windows, replace driver's power window and lock switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Check for faulty circuit breaker or power window relay. Check for faulty master power window and lock switch. Inspect power window circuit for an open or short. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight.

Check for blown ELEC IGN fuse. Check for faulty circuit breaker or power window relay. Check for faulty master power window and lock switch. Inspect power window circuit for an open or short. Ensure ground connections are clean and tight.

POWER WINDOW MOTOR

CAUTIONWindow regulator spring is under pressure. Use caution when removing power window motor from window regulator.

Amigo, Passport & Rodeo (Front Doors)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove power window switch. Pull out on inside door handle and remove screw. Remove speaker grille and speaker. Remove door mirror cover from front top of door panel. Remove door pull handle. Disengage clips and remove door panel.
  2. Remove waterproof shield. Roll glass downward to access screws attaching glass to regulator. Remove screws attaching top and bottom of regulator to door. Remove screws attaching power window motor to door. Disconnect electrical connector to motor and remove regulator assembly.
  3. Remove motor from regulator noting location of cables. To install, reverse removal procedures.

Amigo, Passport & Rodeo (Rear Doors)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove power window and lock switch. See «POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-32632-S37864130852001010900000) . Remove rear lower corner garnish from door. Disengage clips attaching door panel to door, disconnect electrical connectors and remove door panel.
  2. Remove bracket and waterproof sheet from door. Remove screw from top of door and inside of door and remove stationary glass. Roll glass downward to access screws attaching glass to regulator. remove glass from door. Remove screws attaching top and bottom of regulator to door. Remove screws attaching power window motor to door. Disconnect electrical connector to motor and remove regulator assembly.
  3. Remove motor from regulator noting location of cables. To install, reverse removal procedures.
  1. Remove door trim panel and waterproof shield. Roll glass down until regulator rollers can be seen. Remove screws attaching front and rear run channels to door and pull weatherstrip from run channels. Move window forward to remove sash channel from regulator rear rollers. Tilt window forward to vertical position and upward to remove sash channel from front regulator roller.
  2. Disconnect power window motor electrical connector. Drill 4 large rivets securing regulator to door. Drill a hole through window regulator and sector gear and secure together with nut and bolt. (Scheme 1) Drill rivets securing power window motor to regulator.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. When installing new motor on regulator, nut/bolts will be used instead of rivets.

SLX & Trooper (Front & Rear Doors)

Remove door trim panel and waterproof shield. Roll glass down until glass retaining bolts can be accessed and removed. Disconnect power window motor. Remove window regulator screws and remove window regulator. Remove regulator assembly from access hole in lower portion of door. Remove power window motor retaining screws and remove motor from window regulator. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Scheme 1: SLX & Trooper (Front & Rear Doors)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Pry out power window switch panel at its leading edge from door panel using a flat-blade screwdriver. Disconnect power window switch connectors and remove switch. Pry suspect switch from switch panel and replace. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Pry out power window switch from door panel using a flat-blade screwdriver. Disconnect power window switch connectors and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.

SLX & Trooper (All Doors)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Pry out power window switch from door panel using a flat-blade screwdriver. Disconnect power window switch connectors and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Passport & Rodeo (Rear Doors)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove screw attaching read door pull handle to door. Disconnect power window switch connectors and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.
