Switches are shown in wiring diagrams as if the vehicle is in the "normal" condition. A vehicle is in the "normal" condition when

  1. ignition switch is "OFF"
  2. doors, hood and trunk lid/back door are closed
  3. pedals are not depressed, and
  4. parking brake is released.
