Scheme 439: INSPECTION PROCEDURES
  1. CHECK DTC RELATING TO ECTS Connect a Hi-Scan (Pro) to the data link connector. Turn ignition to ON position and monitor other DTCs. Are any DTC relating to ECTS set? No: Go to next Yes: Do all repairs associated with those codes before proceeding with this procedure.
  2. CHECK ENGINE COOLANT CHECK engine coolant level. Measure the specific gravity of the coolant with a hydrometer. Refer to «SPECIFIC GRAVITY TEST»(ref-168719-S10682303792004121500000) . Is engine coolant normal? Yes: Go to next No: Replace it.
  3. CHECK THERMOSTAT FOR NORMAL OPERATION Remove the thermostat. Check if the thermostat is stuck or damaged. Is thermostat normal? Yes: Go to next No: Replace it.
  4. CHECK ECTS RESISTANCE Measure resistance of ECTS between terminals 1 and 3 of the ECTS connector. Refer to «SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-170162-S07847610642005010400000) for more information. Is resistance within specification? Yes: Proceed with «ECM PROBLEM PROCEDURE»(ref-170162-S14070956722005010400000) . No: Replace ECTS.
