Scheme 14

Scheme 14: HEAD LAMP RELAY

Scheme 15

Scheme 15
  1. Remove the headlamp relay from the relay box in the engine compartment.
  2. Check for continuity between terminals on the relay.

Scheme 16

Scheme 16: FLASHER UNIT
  1. Remove the flasher unit from the junction box.
  2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
  3. Connect the two turn signal lamps in parallel to terminals 2 and 3. Check that the bulbs turn on and off. NOTE: The turn signal lamps should flash 60 to 120 times per minute. If one of the front or rear turn signal lamps has an open circuit, the number of flashes will be more than 120 per minute. If operation is not as specified, replace the flasher unit.

Scheme 17

Scheme 17: HAZARD SWITCH

Scheme 18

Scheme 18

Scheme 19

Scheme 19
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Pry the center fascia panel loose with a flat-tip screwdriver.
  3. Disconnect the connector from the hazard lamp switch.
  4. Operate the switch and check for continuity between terminals with an ohmmeter.

Scheme 20

Scheme 20: RHEOSTAT

Scheme 21

Scheme 21
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Disconnect the rheostat connector from the crash pad lower panel.
  3. Check for intensity. If the light intensity of the lamps changes smoothly without any flickering when the rheostat is turned, it can be assumed that the rheostat is normal.

OPERATION CHECK

Check that the lights operate according to the following timing chart.

Scheme 23

Scheme 23: INSPECT CIRCUITS FOR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM

Scheme 24

Scheme 24
  1. Disconnect the wire connector to DRL module from engine compartment.
  2. Inspect the connector on wire harness side as shown.
  3. If circuit is not as specified, refer to «HEADLIGHTS»(ref-165863-S29191685682004090800000) and inspect for short circuits.
