- Remove drain plug and drain transaxle fluid. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove battery. Disconnect fluid cooler hoses at top of transaxle and plug lines and fittings.
- Remove control cable. Disconnect all electrical connectors from transaxle. Remove top transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts "C". (Scheme 192) Remove transaxle top mounting bracket.
- Remove starter. Raise vehicle. Remove engine undercover panel. Remove both axle shaft assemblies, and intermediate shaft and bearing bracket assembly. See appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in AXLE SHAFTS & TRANSFER CASES.
- Support transaxle with appropriate jack. Remove transaxle lower brace, behind starter. Remove lower bellhousing cover to access torque converter bolts. Ensure transaxle is in Neutral. Remove torque converter bolts. Push torque converter into transaxle bellhousing, away from drive plate. Remove lower transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts. Remove transaxle from vehicle.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Before installing transaxle to engine, ensure torque converter is properly aligned with transaxle pump drive. Install transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts in correct locations. (Scheme 192) Tighten bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-2412-S13325093732000031800000).
