General Description

All 13 units which consists of the Body Electrical Control System are linked by CAN *1 line.

They are IPM (Inter Panel Module), FAM (Front Area Module), PDM (Power Distribution Module), DDM (Drive Door Module), ADM (Assist Door Module), ECW (Electronic Control Wiper), CLU (Cluster), MFSW (Multi Function Switch), PSM (Power Seat Module), SCM (Steering Control Module), PTM (Power Trunk Lid Module), FBWS (Front Back Warning System), DATC (Dual Auto Temperature Control Module).

*1 CAN (Controller Area Network): CAN is serial bus communication type which links not only communication system but also control units each other.

*2 LIN (Local Interconnect Network): LIN is serial communication type which is used in electrical control system. (This is less expensive.)

Scheme 34

Scheme 34: General Description

This is DTC which is related with communication error between IPM and other units.

(*Control Units: IPM (Inter Panel Module), FAM (Front Area Module), PDM (Power Distribution Module), DDM (Drive Door Module), ADM (Assist Door Module), ECW (Electronic Control Wiper), CLU (Cluster), MFSW (Multi Function Switch), PSM (Power Seat Module), SCM (Steering Control Module), PTM (Power Trunk Lid Module), FBWS (Front Back Warning System))

Case1: After short between FAM CAN Low Line and High Line, short to ground together.

Case2: After short between FAM CAN Low Line and High Line, short to power together.

*This code is occurred when It is not possible to transmit data by CAN Line in those way of Software and Hardware. But, It is possible to receive data by CAN Line.

This code reports BUS OFF status when data transmit error count number is over 255. The purpose is to verify the status of CAN controller and CAN communication line when error is detected.

According to operation condition, some of module which are connected to CAN line may not detect B1603.

Also, B1602 coincides with B1603 at all times.

CAUTIONDifference between CAN ERROR and CAN BUS ERROR CAN Error: MIL On, CAN Bus Error: No MIL

FAM controls the low/high wiper relay according to rain sensor signal when the wiper auto switch is turned to ON under IG ON.

Note. The rain sensor is mounted on the interior side of the front windshield glass behind the rearview mirror. If driver turns the wiper switch to AUTO, this signal is inputted to FAM by LIN communication. FAM transmits 5 steps of signals (Slow <--> Fast) from the wiper auto switch to the rain sensor. At the slowest step among the INT switch, the rain sensor becomes the most insensitive status. At the fastest step among the INT switch, the rain sensor becomes the most sensitive status to measure the amount of rain. So, the sensitively of the rain sensor depends on the steps of the INT switch. The rain sensor transmits the desired speed of a wiper by duty signal to FAM.

[FAM output signal (FAM --> Rain sensor)]

FAM transmits sensitivity step signal from INT switch to the rain sensor by pulse signal.

RAIN SENSOR OUTPUT SIGNAL (RAIN SENSOR --> FAM)

FAM outputs this code when it detects internal error of rain sensor after wiper switch has been turned to AUTO under IG "ON" or IG "ON" & ENG "ON".

FAM controls the low/high wiper relay according to rain sensor signal when the wiper auto switch is turned to ON under IG ON. As the wiper INT switch is set at AUTO mode, combination switch transmits value of INT step to ECW by LIN communication. And, ECW communicates with FAM by CAN.

RAIN SENSOR OUTPUT SIGNAL (RAIN SENSOR --> FAM)

The rain sensor is attached to the front windshield glass. This code is outputted when the rain sensor is attached badly or detached from the front windshield glass.

FAM outputs this code when FAM can't receive data from the rain sensor.

  1. In case of shaking the rain sensor after detaching from windshield.
  2. In case each circuits of input and output are shorted to ground.
  3. In case each circuits of input and output are shorted to power.
  4. In case each circuits of input and output are open.
  5. In case the rain sensor connector is disconnected.
