Scheme 1: SERVICE INDICATOR & WARNING LIGHTS

OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check, but should go out shortly after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates low oil pressure and possible system malfunction. Have the system checked and serviced immediately. DO NOT operate vehicle until cause is located and corrected.

CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a possible malfunction in the electrical charging system or the alternator belt may be loose or broken. Have the system checked and serviced promptly. DO NOT drive vehicle if alternator belt is loose or broken.

OVERDRIVE OFF INDICATOR

This amber light will be illuminated when the overdrive switch is turned off. When the overdrive switch is turned on and 4th gear is engaged, the OVERDRIVE OFF indicator will go out.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on with the ignition switch in the ON position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. Light will also come on with the parking brake fully or partially engaged. If light remains on or comes on at any other time, it indicates low brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Add hydraulic brake fluid and have the system checked immediately. DO NOT operate vehicle if further trouble is experienced.

BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING SOUND

The front disc brake pads have wear indicators that should make a high-pitched squealing or scraping noise when new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all the time when the vehicle is moving. It may also be heard when the brake pedal is pushed down firmly. Expensive rotor damage may result if the pads are not replaced.

CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

Light should come on briefly when ignition switch is in the ON position as a bulb check and should go out shortly after engine is started. If light remains on or comes on while driving it indicates a possible malfunction in the emission control system. An exhaust gas related component may not be functioning properly and the system should be checked and serviced promptly.

LOW WASHER FLUID WARNING LIGHT

Light illuminates to indicate washer fluid in reservoir is approaching empty. Add fluid as soon as possible after light has come on. Operating the washer with an empty reservoir will damage the washer pump.
