Engine Controls - Adjustments: Other Hyundai Accent I

Adjustments 1 illustration ~210 words

ENGINE MECHANICAL

Before performing any on-vehicle adjustments to fuel or ignition systems, ensure engine mechanical condition is okay.

VALVE CLEARANCE

Note. Accent is equipped with hydraulic lash adjusters. No adjustments are required.

IGNITION TIMING

Note. On Accent, ignition timing is computer controlled. Ignition timing is not adjustable.

IDLE SWITCH (FIXED SAS)

Note. Idle switch is adjusted at factory. Adjustment is not required unless idle switch has been replaced or fixed SAS has been moved from factory adjustment mark.

IDLE MIXTURE

Note. Mixture adjustment is computer-controlled and is not adjustable.

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR

Note. For further TP sensor diagnosis, see SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article or TESTS W/CODES article below.

  1. «TESTS W/CODES»(ref-16576)
  2. «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-16577)
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor harness connector. Using a DVOM, check resistance between TP sensor terminals No. 2 (ground) and No. 3 (power). (Scheme 2) Resistance should be 700-3000 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace TP sensor. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  2. Connect DVOM between TP sensor terminals No. 1 (output) and No. 3 (ground). Open throttle slowly from idle to wide-open throttle position. Resistance should change smoothly in proportion to the throttle valve opening. If resistance does not change smoothly, replace TP sensor.
