Scheme 1
Begin the system diagnosis by reviewing the system Description and Operation. Refer to Object Detection Description and Operation . Reviewing the Description and Operation information will help you determine the correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will also help you determine if the condition described by the customer is normal operation. Refer to Symptoms - Object Detection in order to identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
| IMPORTANT | The following steps must be completed before using the symptoms tables. |
- Perform the «Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle»(ref-299145-S35517489322008092200000) before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true: There are no DTCs set. The control modules can communicate via the serial data link.
- Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to «Object Detection Description and Operation»(ref-299185-S33912649162008092200000) .
Circuit/System Description
The inside rearview mirror (ISRVM) has only one voltage source for operation of all mirror functions. With the ignition in RUN all functions of the ISRVM will default to ON. The dual temperature display and rear vision indicators will be illuminated. The ISRVM receives a 12-volt signal from the body control module (BCM) indicating that the vehicle is in reverse gear. The rear vision display will then be deployed from the ISRVM providing a view to the rear of the vehicle. When the display is extended the ISRVM will supply the camera with a 12-volt power source. If a problem exists with the object detection display not deploying or if a proper video signal is not detected, the rear vision ON/OFF indicator located on the ISRVM will flash.
The rearview camera image display module receives a 12-volt signal from the body control module (BCM) indicating that the vehicle is in REVERSE gear. When this signal is detected, the rearview camera image display module will provide a regulated 5-volt power source to the rearview camera. The rearview image will then be displayed on the radio. If a proper video signal is not detected, the radio will display SERVICE REAR VISION CAMERA SYSTEM notification on the radio display.
