Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) from the surge tank (2).
- Remove the surge tank inlet hose (6) from the surge tank (2).
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (5) from the surge tank (2).
- Remove the surge tank outlet hose (3) from the surge tank (2).
- Remove the bolt (1) from the surge tank (4).
- Remove the nut (3) from the surge tank (4).
- If equipped disconnect the electrical connector from the low coolant level switch.
- Remove the surge tank (4) from the vehicle (5).
Installation Procedure
- Install the surge tank (4) to the vehicle (5).
- If equipped connect the electrical connector to the low coolant level switch.
- Install the bolt (1) to the surge tank (4). Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the nut (3) to the surge tank (4). Tighten: Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the surge tank outlet hose (3) to the surge tank (2).
- Position the surge tank outlet hose clamp (5) to the surge tank (2).
- Install the surge tank inlet hose (6) to the surge tank (2).
- Position the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) to the surge tank (2).
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp from the radiator.
- Remove the surge tank inlet hose (1) from the radiator.
- Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank (2).
- Remove the surge tank inlet hose (6) from the surge tank (2).
- Install the surge tank inlet hose (6) to the surge tank (2).
- Position the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) to the surge tank (2).
- Install the surge tank inlet hose (1) to the radiator.
- Position the surge tank inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Disconnect the heater hose quick connect fitting. Using the J 43181 disconnect the inlet heater hose from the heater core. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) . Install the J 43181 to the heater core outlet pipe. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) . Close the tool around the heater core outlet pipe. Firmly pull the tool into the quick connect end of the heater hose. Firmly grasp the heater hose. Pull the heater hose forward in order to disengage the hose from the heater core.
- Remove the heater hose (3) from the mounting clip (2).
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (3) from the engine (2).
- Remove the surge tank outlet hose (6) from the engine (2).
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (5) from the surge tank (2).
- Remove the surge tank outlet hose (3) from the surge tank (2).
- Remove the surge tank outlet hose (3) from the vehicle.
- Install the surge tank outlet hose (3) to the vehicle.
- Install the surge tank outlet hose (3) to the surge tank (2).
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (5) to the surge tank (2).
- Install the surge tank outlet hose (6) to the engine (2).
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp (3) to the engine (2).
- Connect the heater inlet hose to the heater core. IMPORTANT: Firmly push the quick connect onto the heater core pipe until you hear an audible click.
- Pull the heater inlet hose to ensure the connection.
- Install the heater hose (3) to the mounting clip (2).
- Connect the surge tank outlet hose to the heater core outlet pipe.
- Pull the surge tank outlet hose to ensure the connection.
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp (3) from the engine (1).
- Remove the radiator inlet hose (2) from the engine (1).
- Remove the radiator inlet hose (4) from the mounting clip (3).
- Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp (5) from the radiator (6).
- Remove the radiator inlet hose (4) from the radiator (6).
- Remove the inlet hose from the vehicle.

- Install the radiator inlet hose (4) to the radiator (6).
- Position the radiator inlet hose clamp (5) to the radiator (6).
- Install the radiator inlet hose (4) to the mounting clip (3).
- Install the radiator inlet hose (2) to the engine (1). Position the radiator inlet hose clamp (3) to the engine (1).
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) from the engine (1).
- Remove the radiator outlet hose (3) from the engine (1).
- Reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) from the radiator (1).
- Remove the radiator outlet hose (3) from the radiator (1).
- Remove the outlet hose from the vehicle.
- Install the radiator outlet hose (3) to the radiator (1).
- Position the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) to the radiator (1).
- Install the radiator outlet hose (3) to the engine (1).
- Position the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) to the engine (1).
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Reposition the radiator vent inlet hose clamp from the radiator.
- Remove the radiator vent inlet hose (2) from the radiator.
- Remove the radiator vent inlet hose (2) from the fan shroud retainer.
- Reposition the radiator vent inlet hose clamp from the throttle body.
- Remove the radiator vent inlet hose (2) from the throttle body.
- Remove the vent inlet hose from the vehicle.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose (2) to the throttle body.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose clamp to the throttle body.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose (2) to the fan shroud retainer.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose (2) to the radiator.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Disengage the plastic caps from the quick connect fittings. Pull the caps back along the pipe.
- Using a bent-tip screwdriver or equivalent, pull on one of the open ends of the retaining ring in order to rotate the retaining ring.
- Rotate the retaining ring around the quick connector until the retaining ring is out of position and can be completely removed. Discard the retaining rings.
- Remove the engine oil cooler line from the quick connector fitting at the radiator. Pull the lines straight out from the connectors.
- Clean all of the components in a suitable solvent, and dry them with compressed air.
- Inspect the fittings, the connectors, the cooler lines, and the cooler for damage, distortion, or restriction. Replace parts as necessary.
- Install a new retaining ring into each quick connector fitting.
- Hook one of the open ends of the retaining ring in one of the slots in the quick connector.
- Rotate the retaining ring around the connector until the retaining ring is positioned with all 3 ears through the 3 slots.
- Ensure the 3 retaining ring ears can be seen from the inside of the connector and the retaining ring can move freely in the slots.
- Install the engine oil cooler line into the quick connector fitting until a click is heard or felt. Pull back on the engine oil cooler lines to ensure a proper connection.
- Snap the plastic cap onto the quick connect fitting.
- Ensure that the plastic cap is fully seated against the fitting.
- Ensure that no gap is present between the cap and the fitting.
- Inspect and fill the engine oil to the proper level.
- Remove the engine oil cooler hoses from the radiator. Refer to «Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187257-S22288105562005083100000) .
- Remove the engine oil cooler hoses from the fan shroud.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187252-S32674187102005083100000) in General Information.
- Remove the engine protection shield bolts.
- Remove the engine shield.
- Remove the engine oil cooler hose bracket bolt (1).
- Remove the engine oil cooler hose adapter bolts (2).
- Remove the engine oil cooler hose assembly and gasket. Discard the gasket.
- Inspect the fittings, connectors and cooler hoses for damage or distortion.
- Install the engine oil cooler hose assembly and a new gasket.
- Install the engine oil cooler hose adapter bolts (2). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the engine oil cooler hose bracket bolt (1). Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the engine protection shield.
- Install the engine shield bolts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the engine oil cooler hoses to the fan shroud.
- Install the engine oil cooler hoses to the radiator. Refer to «Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187257-S22288105562005083100000) .
- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
- Install J 46406 to the fan clutch. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) .
- Remove the fan hub nut from the water pump.
- Remove the bolts from the fan clutch.
- Separate the fan clutch from the fan blade.
| CAUTION | Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage. |
- Install the fan clutch to the fan blade.
- Install the bolts to the fan clutch. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).
- Install the fan blade to the vehicle.
- Install J 46406 to the fan clutch. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) . Tighten: Tighten the nut to 59 N.m (44 lb ft).
- Install the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
- Install the J 46406 to the fan clutch. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) .
- Remove the fan hub nut from the water pump in a counterclockwise rotation.
- Remove the bolts from the fan clutch.
- Remove the fan clutch from the fan blade.
| CAUTION | Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage. |
- Install the fan clutch to the fan blade.
- Install the bolts to the fan clutch. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).
- Install the fan blade to the vehicle.
- Install the J 46406 to the fan clutch. See «Special Tools and Equipment»(ref-187257-S03390374262005083100000) . Tighten: Tighten the nut clockwise to 59 N.m (44 lb ft).
- Install the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
| IMPORTANT | The thermostat is not serviceable separately. The thermostat housing (water pump inlet) and thermostat must be replaced as an assembly. |
- Drain the cooling system/engine block. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the throttle body and at the Mass airflow (MAF) sensor.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Remove the radiator outlet hose.
- Remove the thermostat housing bolts.
- Remove the thermostat housing from the water pump.
- Install the thermostat housing to the water pump.
- Install the thermostat housing bolts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
- Install the radiator outlet hose.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the throttle body and at the Mass airflow (MAF) sensor. Tighten: Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp screws to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000)
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the generator. Refer to «Generator Replacement»(ref-187208-S12634237522005083100000) in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the coolant air bleed pipe bolts (1).
- Remove the coolant air bleed pipe (2) with gaskets (3).
- Remove the gaskets from the coolant air bleed pipe and covers.
- Discard the gaskets.
- Remove the coolant air bleed hose (1) from the pipe (2).
- Install the coolant air bleed hose (1) onto the pipe (2).
- Install the gaskets onto the coolant air bleed pipe and covers.
- Install the coolant air bleed pipe (2) and gaskets (3) onto the cylinder heads.
- Install the coolant air bleed pipe bolts (1). Tighten: Tighten the coolant air bleed pipe bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the generator. Refer to «Generator Replacement»(ref-187208-S12634237522005083100000) in Engine Electrical.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to «Engine Sight Shield Replacement (6.0L (LQ4)»(ref-187255-S34927328222005083100000) in Engine Mechanical - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Reposition the coolant air bleed hose clamp at the throttle body.
- Remove the coolant air bleed hose from the throttle body.
- Reposition the hose clamp at the pipe.
- Remove the coolant air bleed hose (1) from the pipe (2).
- Remove the coolant air bleed hose from the vehicle.
- Install the coolant air bleed hose (1) to the pipe (2).
- Position the hose clamp at the pipe.
- Install the coolant air bleed hose to the throttle body.
- Position the coolant air bleed hose clamp at the throttle body.
- Install the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to «Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement»(ref-187222-S15189587742005083100000) in Engine Controls - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Install the engine sight shield. Refer to «Engine Sight Shield Replacement (6.0L (LQ4)»(ref-187255-S34927328222005083100000) in Engine Mechanical - 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L.
- Add engine coolant, if necessary.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the following locations: Throttle body Mass airflow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor
- Remove the radiator inlet hose clip from the outlet duct.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Remove the radiator vent inlet hose from the radiator hose clips.
- Reposition the inlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Remove the inlet hose from the water pump.
- Remove the fan blade. Refer to «Fan Replacement»(ref-187257-S23854649282005083100000) .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to «Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory»(ref-187255-S18809263282005083100000) in Engine Mechanical - 6.0L (LQ4).
- Reposition the outlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Remove the outlet hose from the water pump.
- Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Remove the surge tank outlet hose from the water pump.
- Reposition the heater inlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Remove the heater inlet hose from the water pump.
- Remove the water pump bolts.
- Remove the water pump and gaskets.
- Discard the water pump gaskets.
| IMPORTANT | All gaskets surfaces are to be free of oil or other foreign material during assembly. |
- Install the water pump and NEW gaskets.
- Install the water pump bolts. Tighten: Tighten the water pump bolts a first pass to 15 N.m (11 lb ft). Tighten the water pump bolts a final pass to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the heater inlet hose to the water pump.
- Position the heater inlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Install the surge tank outlet hose to the water pump.
- Position the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Install the outlet hose to the water pump.
- Position the outlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to «Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory»(ref-187255-S18809263282005083100000) in Engine Mechanical - 6.0L (LQ4).
- Install the fan blade. Refer to «Fan Replacement»(ref-187257-S23854649282005083100000) .
- Install the inlet hose to the water pump.
- Position the inlet hose clamp at the water pump.
- Install the engine vent inlet hose to the radiator hose clips.
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Install the radiator inlet hose clip to the outlet duct.
- Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the following locations: Throttle body MAF/IAT sensor Tighten: Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp screws to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the radiator drain cock.
- Install the radiator drain cock.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps from the throttle body.
- Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps from the mass airflow sensor.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Remove the radiator inlet hose from the fan shroud retainer (3).
- Remove the bolt (5) from the fan shroud (3).
- Remove the transmission oil cooler line from the fan shroud retainer.
- Rotate the slip ring from under the fan shroud.
- Remove the bolts (4) from the fan shroud (3).
- Remove the fan shroud (3) from the vehicle.
- Install the fan shroud (3) to the vehicle.
- Install the bolts (4) to the fan shroud (3). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
- Install the transmission oil cooler line to the fan shroud retainer.
- Rotate the slip ring to the original position.
- Install the bolt (5) to the fan shroud (3). Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Install the radiator inlet hose to the fan shroud retainer (3).
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body. Tighten: Tighten the clamp screw to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
- Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the mass airflow sensor. Tighten: Tighten the clamp screw to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp (5) from the radiator (6).
- Remove the radiator inlet hose (4) from the radiator (6).
- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
- Reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) from the radiator (1).
- Remove the radiator outlet hose (3) from the radiator (1).
- Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp from the radiator.
- Remove the surge tank inlet hose (1) from the radiator.
- Reposition the radiator vent inlet hose clamp from the radiator.
- Remove the radiator vent inlet hose (2) from the radiator.
- Remove the engine oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to «Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187257-S22288105562005083100000) .
- Remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to «Transmission Fluid Cooler Line Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187261-S41537210232005083100000) in Automatic Transmission 4L60E/4L65E.
- Remove the radiator bolts (3) from the radiator (2).
- Remove the radiator (2) from the vehicle (1).
- Install the radiator (2) to the vehicle (1).
- Install the radiator bolts (3) to the radiator (2). Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the engine oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to «Engine Oil Cooler Pipe/Hose Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187257-S22288105562005083100000) .
- Install the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to «Transmission Fluid Cooler Line Quick Connect Fitting»(ref-187261-S41537210232005083100000) in Automatic Transmission 4L60E/4L65E.
- Install the radiator vent inlet hose (2) to the radiator.
- Position the radiator vent inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
- Install the surge tank inlet hose (1) to the radiator.
- Position the surge tank inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
- Install the radiator outlet hose (3) to the radiator (1).
- Position the radiator outlet hose clamp (2) to the radiator (1).
- Install the fan shroud. Refer to «Fan Shroud Replacement»(ref-187257-S17735825252005083100000) .
- Install the radiator inlet hose (4) to the radiator (6).
- Position the radiator inlet hose clamp (5) to the radiator (6).
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Remove the radiator air baffle retainers.
- Remove the radiator air baffles (1) from the vehicle (2).
- Install the radiator air baffles (1) to the vehicle (2).
- Install the radiator air baffle retainers.
Dealer Installation Only
- Drain the cooling system/engine block. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187252-S32674187102005083100000) in General Information.
- Remove the oil cooler hose bracket bolt (1).
- Remove the oil cooler hose adapter bolts (2).
- Remove and discard the oil cooler hose adapter gasket.
- Position the oil cooler hose adapter end out of the way.
- Install the coolant heater in place of the drain plug. Tighten: Tighten the coolant heater to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Push the engine coolant heater cord electrical connector (2) firmly into the coolant heater (1).
- Place the cord into position.
- Install the heater cord bolt and retainer. Tighten: Tighten the heater cord bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Position the oil cooler hose adapter.
- Install a NEW oil cooler hose adapter gasket.
- Install the oil cooler hose adapter bolts (2). Tighten: Tighten the oil cooler hose adapter bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the oil cooler hose bracket bolt (1). Tighten: Tighten the oil cooler hose bracket bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the cooling system/engine block. Refer to «Draining and Filling Cooling System»(ref-187257-S14804005252005083100000) .
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to «Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle»(ref-187252-S32674187102005083100000) in General Information.
- Disconnect the coolant heater electrical connector (2).
- Remove the coolant heater cord retainer and bolts.
- Remove the coolant heater cord.
Note. The heater cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold, or any moving parts. Route the cord to the left front of the engine compartment securing with tie straps as necessary to prevent damage.
- Install the coolant heater cord.
- Install the coolant heater cord bolts and retainer. Tighten: Tighten the coolant heater cord bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
- Connect the coolant heater electrical connector (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
