Note. Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces. To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion. Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring, hoses, or interfere with other parts.

- Open the hood, and secure it with the hood support rod (A) in the wide-open position (B).
- Relieve the fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-336462-S31848219562009072700000) ).
- Drain the power steering system fluid (see «FLUID REPLACEMENT»(ref-371295-S38908313312010090700000) ). NOTE: Plug the fluid reservoir and the return hose.
- Do the battery removal procedure (see «BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-336470-S23753401092009072700000) ).
- Remove the engine cover.
- Disconnect the breather pipe (A), then remove the air intake duct (B).
- Remove the harness clamps (A), then remove the battery base (B).
- Remove the ground cable (C), the harness clamps (B) and the starter motor cable (A).
- Remove the shift cable (see step 22 on «TRANSMISSION REMOVAL»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (A), then disconnect the fuel feed hose (B) (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING REMOVAL»(ref-336462-S28967510292009072700000) ).
- Remove the transfer breather tube box (A) and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (B).
- Disconnect the EVAP canister hose (C), then remove the EVAP purge joint (D).
- Center the steering wheel spokes, and install a commercially available steering wheel holder tool (A).
- Remove the steering joint cover (A).
- Make a reference mark (B) across the steering joint (C) and steering gearbox pinion shaft (D). Remove the steering joint bolt (E), and loosen the steering joint bolt (F), then disconnect the steering joint from the steering gearbox pinion shaft.
- Remove the alternator cable (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Disconnect the harness connectors (B).
- Remove the coolant reservoir from the bracket.
- Remove the PCM cover.
- Remove the harness clamps (A), then disconnect the two PCM connectors (B).
- Remove the drive belt (see «DRIVE BELT INSPECTION»(ref-336465-S30666249062009072700000) ).
- Disconnect the power steering pump inlet hose (A) and the power steering pump outlet hose (B) from the power steering pump, then plug the power steering hoses and the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering hose bracket (C) from the rear cylinder head cover.
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Raise the vehicle on the lift.
- Remove the front wheels.
- Remove the front splash shield (see «FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-splash-shield-replacement) ).
- Loosen the drain plug in the radiator, and drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-system) ).
- Drain ATF (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Drain the engine oil (see «ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK»(ref-336454-S06414270182009072700000) ).
- Remove the front subframe stiffener.
- 2009 - 2011 models: Remove the exhaust pipe A.
- 2012 model: Disconnect the front secondary HO2S connector.
- 2012 model: Remove the exhaust pipe A.
- Separate the tie-rod end ball joints from the knuckles (see step 9 on «KNUCKLE/HUB REPLACEMENT»(ref-336479-S37907249802009072700000) ).
- Separate the stabilizer links from the dampers (see «STABILIZER LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-336479-S02910748152009072700000) ).
- Separate the knuckles from the suspension lower arms (see step 11 on «KNUCKLE/HUB REPLACEMENT»(ref-336479-S37907249802009072700000) ).
- Remove the front driveshafts (see «DRIVESHAFT INSPECTION»(ref-336458-S33203906722009072700000) ). Coat all precision-finished surfaces with new engine oil. Tie plastic bags over the front driveshaft ends.
- Remove the propeller shaft from the transfer shaft flange (see «PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL»(ref-336458-S10703423852009072700000) ).
- Remove the transfer assembly (see «TRANSFER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Disconnect the power steering hose (A), then plug the line and the hose.
- Unclamp the power steering fluid line clamp (B) on the front subframe.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector.
- Remove the transmission lower front mount nuts and the transmission lower rear mount nuts.
- Remove the rear engine mount mounting bolts.
- Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively. NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.
- Lower the vehicle on the lift.
- Disconnect the heater hoses.
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose (A) and the lower radiator hose (B).
- Disconnect the ATF cooler hoses from the transmission, then plug the ATF cooler hoses and lines.
- Remove the radiator (see «RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-system) ).
- Remove the connector bracket from the front cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the engine hanger balance bar front arm.
- Remove the harness clamp bracket from the rear cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033).
- Remove the service caps (A) for the front damper flange nuts from the cowl cover (B). Position the engine hanger adapters (VSB02C000024) with the "FRONT" mark facing forward over the damper flange nuts.
- Lift and support the engine with the A and Reds engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) and engine balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to a front cylinder head with a spacer (B) and the 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the balance bar, and install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033), then attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (D).
- Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (E) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission. NOTE: Be careful when working around the windshield. AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bar.
- Remove the front engine mount stop (A), then remove the front engine mount bolt (B).
- Raise the vehicle on the lift.
- Loosen the four bolts (A) holding the adjustable arms (B) of the front subframe adapter (EQS02BMDXSB0) to its center plate.
- Line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, then attach the front subframe adapter (A) to the jack base with the bolts (B) that came with the jack. Tighten all bolts securely.
- Raise the jack to vehicle height, then attach the front subframe adapter to the front subframe using the subframe stiffener mounting bolts (C) and the bolt holes.
- Remove the bolt retainers from both ends of the subframe.
- Remove the six 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (A) securing the subframe stiffeners (B), the four subframe mounting bolts (C), and the stiffeners, then lower the front subframe (D).
- Lower the vehicle on the lift.
- Attach a chain hoist (A) to the engine hanger (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it's securely supported by the chain hoist and remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the engine hanger adapter set.
- Remove the side engine mount mounting bolts from the upper half of the side engine mount bracket.
- Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hose, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.
- Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.
- Disconnect the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.
- Raise the vehicle all the way, and remove the engine/transmission assembly from under the vehicle.

- Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.
- Position the engine/transmission assembly under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine and transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine or transmission. Lift and support the engine/transmission (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission assembly into place. NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise, vibration, and reduce engine mount life.
- Remove the service caps (A) for the front damper flange nuts from the cowl cover (B). Position the engine hanger adapters (VSB02C000024) with the "FRONT" mark facing forward over the damper flange nuts.
- Install the side engine mount mounting bolts into the upper half of the side engine mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
- Install the engine balance bar (VSB02C000019); attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with a spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C), remove the rear arm from the balance bar, and install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033), then attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with a 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (D).
- Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (E) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission. NOTE: Be careful when working around the windshield.
- Using the front subframe adapter (EQS02BMDXSB0) and a jack, raise the front subframe up to the body.
- Loosely install the new front subframe mounting bolts (four) (A), the 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (six) (B, C), and the stiffeners (D).
- Loosely tighten the right rear subframe mounting bolt (A); insert the frame positioning guide pin through the positioning slot (B) on the rear stiffener, through the positioning hole (C) on the subframe, and into the positioning hole (D) on the body, then tighten the subframe mounting bolt.
- Loosely tighten the left rear subframe mounting bolt in the same manner in step 7 .
- Loosely tighten the right and left front subframe mounting bolts.
- Loosen the right rear mounting bolt, then tighten the bolt to the specified torque with putting the guide pin into the positioning hole.
- Tighten the left rear mounting bolt to the specified torque with putting the guide pin into the positioning hole.
- Tighten the right and left front mounting bolts to the specified torque.
- Check that the positioning holes and slot are aligned using the guide pin.
- Tighten the rear and front stiffener mounting bolts to the specified torque.
- Install the bolt retainers on both ends of the subframe.
- Remove the jack and front subframe adapter.
- Tighten the transmission lower rear mount nuts (A) and the transmission lower front mount nuts (B).
- Tighten the rear engine mount mounting bolts.
- Lower the vehicle on the lift.
- Tighten the front engine mount bolt (A), then install the front engine mount stop (B).
- Loosen the mounting bolts for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then tighten them to the specified torque.
- Remove the engine hanger and balance bar.
- Raise the vehicle on the lift.
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Connect the power steering hose (A), then install the power steering hose on the clamp (B).
- Connect the power steering pressure switch connector.
- Install the transfer assembly (see «TRANSFER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Install the propeller shaft onto the transfer shaft flange (see «PROPELLER SHAFT INSTALLATION»(ref-336458-S05668919912009072700000) ).
- Install a new set ring on the end of each driveshaft, then install the driveshafts. Make sure each ring "clicks" into place in the differential and intermediate shaft.
- Connect the suspension lower arms to the knuckles (see «STABILIZER LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-336479-S02910748152009072700000) ).
- Connect the stabilizer links (see «STABILIZER LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-336479-S02910748152009072700000) ).
- Connect the tie-rod end ball joints to the knuckles (see step 26 on «WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT»(ref-336479-S04642570102009072700000) ).
- 2009 - 2011 models: Install the exhaust pipe A using new gaskets (B) and new self-locking nuts (C).
- 2012 model: Install the exhaust pipe A using new gaskets (B) and new self-locking nuts (C).
- 2012 model: Connect the front secondary HO2S connector (D).
- Install the front subframe stiffener.
- Install the front splash shield (see «FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-splash-shield-replacement) ).
- Install the front wheels.
- Lower the vehicle on the lift.
- Install the radiator (see «RADIATOR AND FAN REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-system) ).
- Connect the upper radiator hose (A) and the lower radiator hose (B).
- Install the heater hoses.
- Install the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cooler hoses to the transmission, and secure the hoses with the clips (see «ATF COOLER HOSE REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Install the connector bracket to the front cylinder head.
- Install the harness clamp bracket to the rear cylinder head.
- Install the power steering pump outlet hose (A) with a new O-ring (B), and connect the power steering pump inlet hose (C).
- Install the P/S hose clamp (D) to the cylinder head.
- Install the drive belt (see «DRIVE BELT INSPECTION»(ref-336465-S30666249062009072700000) ).
- Connect the PCM connectors (B), then install the harness clamps (A).
- Install the PCM cover.
- Install the coolant reservoir tank to the bracket.
- Install the alternator cable (A) to the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Connect the harness connectors (B).
- Align the reference mark (A) on the steering joint and steering gearbox pinion shaft. Connect the steering joint (B) to the steering gearbox pinion shaft (C). Tighten the steering joint bolt.
- Install the steering joint cover (D).
- Remove the steering wheel holder tool (A).
- Install the transfer breather tube box (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).
- Connect the EVAP canister hose (C), then install the EVAP purge joint (D).
- Connect the fuel feed hose (A) (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING INSTALLATION»(ref-336462-S25437404302009072700000) ), then install the quick-connect fitting cover (B).
- Install the shift cable (see step 61 on «TRANSMISSION INSTALLATION»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Install the starter motor cable (A), the harness clamps (B) and the ground cable (C).
- Install the battery base (A), then install the harness clamps (B).
- Install the air intake duct (A), then install the breather pipe (B).
- Install the engine cover.
- Install the bulkhead cover (see «FRONT BULKHEAD COVER REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#exterior-trim__front-bulkhead-cover-replacement) ).
- Install the service caps on the cowl cover.
- Do the battery installation procedure (see «BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-336470-S23753401092009072700000) ).
- Inspect for fuel leaks. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) (do not operate the starter) so the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation two or three times, then check for fuel leakage at any point in the fuel line.
- Refill the engine oil (see «ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK»(ref-336454-S06414270182009072700000) ).
- Refill the transmission with ATF (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
- Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
- Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system with the heater valve open (see step 9 on «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-system) ).
- Refill the reservoir with the power steering fluid. Do the power steering system bleeding procedure (see «FLUID REPLACEMENT»(ref-371295-S38908313312010090700000) ).
- Do the PCM reset procedure (see «GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION»(ref-336452-S04021619762009072700000) ).
- Do the crankshaft position (CKP) pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see «CKP PATTERN CLEAR/CKP PATTERN LEARN»(ref-336452-S03293821702009072700000) ).
- Inspect the idle speed (see «IDLE SPEED INSPECTION»(ref-336473-S32330039802009072700000) ).
- Inspect the ignition timing (see «IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION»(/honda/ridgeline/i-2009-2014/remont/ignition-system/#ignition-system) ).
- Check the wheel alignment (see «WHEEL ALIGNMENT»(ref-336457-S34446018192009072700000) ).
