Audio Unit Removal/Installation

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the dashboard and related parts. Lay a workshop towel under the parts when working on them to protect the face panel from scratches or other damage. Eject all the discs before removing the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD/DVD player's load mechanism. If you are replacing the audio unit, write down the audio presets (if possible), and enter them into the new audio unit.

  1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped).
  2. Remove the dashboard center panel (see «DASHBOARD CENTER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S16005184032009072100000) ) and center pocket (see «CENTER POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S41110937122009072100000) ).
  3. Remove the self-tapping screws, then pull out the audio unit (A).
  4. Disconnect the audio unit connectors and climate control unit connectors, then remove the audio unit. NOTE: When you disconnect audio unit connector A, while pushing the tab (B), pull the lever (C) up, and disconnect the connector.
  5. Remove the bolts and the stay (A) from the audio unit, then remove the screws and climate control unit (B).
  6. Install the audio unit in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure all the connectors and the antenna lead are secure. Enter anti-theft codes for the audio system. Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation). If necessary, enter the navigation system code.
  7. Give the new anti-theft codes to the customer.

  1. Remove the audio unit (see «AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333639-S09667756202009072100000) ) and the center upper panel (see «CENTER UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S23754137772009072100000) ).
  2. Remove the screws and bolts, then pull out the audio-HVAC display unit (A).
  3. Disconnect the connectors (B), and remove the audio-HVAC display unit.
  4. Separate the audio-HVAC display unit (A) and the tray (B).
  5. Install the audio-HVAC display unit in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 19: Stereo Amplifier Removal/Installation
  1. Remove these items: Glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S08268234282009072100000) ) Passenger's dashboard undercover (see «PASSENGER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333587-S10832152972009072100000) ) Right kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-333585-S19189801972009072100000) )
  2. Disconnect the connectors (A). NOTE: When you disconnect stereo amplifier connector A, while pushing the tab (B), pull the lever (C) up, and disconnect the connector.
  3. Loosen the bolts (D) and remove the bolt (E), then pull out the stereo amplifier (F).
  4. Detach the harness clip (G). Remove the bolts, nut, and the amplifier stays (H).
  5. Install the stereo amplifier in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the passenger's center console trim (see «CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333586-S22456416852009072100000) ).
  2. Loosen the bolts and detach the harness clip (A), then pull out the stay (B).
  3. Disconnect the connectors (A), then remove the bolts and the USB adapter unit (B).
  4. Install the USB adapter unit in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 22: XM Receiver Removal/Installation
  1. Remove the right rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(ref-333585-S17052326012009072100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the bolt, screws, and the XM receiver (A).
  3. Install the XM receiver in the reverse order of removal.
  4. Call XM satellite radio at (800) 852-9696 to register the new XM receiver.

  1. Remove the roof console (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333585-S23723750292009072100000) ).
  2. Remove the screws and the ANC front microphone (A). With HomeLink Without HomeLink
  3. Install the microphone in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 25: REAR
  1. Remove the headliner (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333585-S23723750292009072100000) ).
  2. Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the screws, the ANC rear microphone (B), and the cap (C) from the headliner.
  3. Install the microphone in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 26: Door Speaker and Test
  1. Remove the door panel. Front: (see «FRONT DOOR SIDE SILL SEAL REPLACEMENT»(ref-333581-S16384579282009072100000) ) Rear: (see «REAR DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-333581-S31806712062009072100000) )
  2. Remove the bolt (A). Then lift the speaker (B) straight up to release the lower clips (C). NOTE: If you pull the speaker out too far from the door, you will damage the lower clips.
  3. Disconnect the 2P connector (D), and remove the speaker.
  4. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be about 4 ohms.
  5. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the door speaker.
