Windshield
- Before testing the wiper/washer control functions, troubleshoot the multiplex control system (see «TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-174054-S13252150322005051900000) ).
Driver's Multiplex Control Unit
Scheme 10
Scheme 11
Scheme 12
- Remove the driver's multiplex control unit from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, and disconnect its connector.
- Inspect all connector and socket terminals to be sure they are making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
- With the driver's multiplex control unit still disconnected, make these input tests at the connector and driver's under-dash fuse/relay box sockets. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, driver's multiplex control unit must be faulty; replace it.
Rear Window
- Before testing the wiper/washer control functions, troubleshoot the multiplex control system (see «TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-174054-S13252150322005051900000) ).

- Remove the cowl cover (see «Wiper Motor Replacement»(ref-174050-S00556638642005051400000) ).
- Disconnect the wiper motor connector (A) from the wiper motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power and ground according to the table.
- Connect an analog voltmeter between the No. 5 (+) and No. 3 (-) terminals, and run the motor at low or high speed. The voltmeter should indicate 0 V and 4 V or more alternately.
- If the voltmeter does not indicate as specified, replace the wiper motor.
Scheme 18
- Remove the tailgate trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(ref-174030-S19310355362005042500000) ).
- Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the rear window wiper motor (B).
- Test the motor by connecting battery power to the wiper motor 4P connector No. 1 terminal and grounding the No. 3 terminal. The motor should run.
- Connect an analog voltmeter between the No. 4 (+) and No. 2 (-) terminals, and run the motor. The voltmeter should indicate 0 V and 4 V or more alternately.
- If the voltmeter does not indicate as specified, replace the wiper motor.
Scheme 19
- Remove the right inner fender .
- Disconnect the 2P connectors (A) from the washer motors (B).
- Test the washer motor by connecting battery power to the No. 1 terminal and ground to the No. 2 terminal.
- If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace it.
Scheme 20
- Remove the right inner fender .
- Disconnect the 2P connector (A) from the washer fluid level switch (B).
- Remove the washer fluid level switch from the reservoir.
- Check for continuity between the No. 1 and No. 2 terminals in each float switch position (C). There should be continuity when the float is down. There should be no continuity when the float is up.
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the float switch.

- Remove the nuts (A) and the windshield wiper arms (B).
- Remove the hood seal (A) and cowl covers (B).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the windshield wiper motor (B).
- Remove the mounting bolts and the wiper linkage assembly (C).
- Scribe a line (A) across the link and windshield wiper linkage to show the original adjustment. Separate the windshield wiper linkage (B) from the wiper motor (C).
- Install in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Apply multipurpose grease to the moving parts. Before reinstalling the wiper arms, turn the wiper switch ON, then OFF to return the wiper shafts to the park position. If necessary, replace any damaged clips. Make sure the wiper motor operates properly.
