Disassembly & Reassembly

For disassembly and reassembly of starter (Scheme 20) To complete the installation of brushes go to following procedure.

Scheme 20

1. Pry back each brush spring with a screwdriver. Position the brush about halfway out of its holder, and release the spring to hold it there.
2. Install the armature in the housing. Pry back each brush spring again, and push the brush down until it seats against the commutator, release the spring against the end of the brush. (Scheme 22)
3. Install the starter and cover (A) to retain the brush holder (B). (Scheme 23)
