Audio Unit Removal/Installation
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) in the SRS before performing repairs or service.
Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the dashboard and related parts.

- Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
- Remove the dashboard center panel (see «CENTER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220597-S01618203442006022100000) ).
- Remove the four mounting bolts, then remove the audio unit.
- Disconnect the audio connectors (A) and antenna lead (B). EX and '06 EX-P models: DX model (Canada), LX model (USA)
- Remove the eight mounting bolts securing the audio unit to the audio unit bracket.
- Install the audio unit in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the audio unit connector is plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the audio presets.

- Remove the right kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-220595-S41722068182006022100000) ).
- Remove the stereo amplifier connectors (A) from the stereo amplifier (B).
- Loosen the mounting nut (C), and remove the two mounting bolts (D), then remove the stereo amplifier.
- Install the stereo amplifier in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the speaker cover (A). Front: Rear
- Remove the three screws, then disconnect the 2P connector (B) from the speaker (C).
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the A-pillar trim (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-220595-S41722068182006022100000) ).
- Disconnect the 2P connector (A).
- Remove the two mounting screws from the tweeter (B).
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 8
- Remove the dashboard center lower cover (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(ref-220595-S41722068182006022100000) ).
- Disconnect the 4P connector (A) from the subwoofer (B).
- Remove the four mounting bolts from the subwoofer.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 9
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220597-S26723889242006022100000) ).
- Remove the front accessory power socket (see «ACCESSORY POWER SOCKET TEST/REPLACEMENT»(ref-220635-S32534514212006022100000) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the auxiliary jack (B).
- Push the auxiliary jack (B) from behind the dashboard.
Scheme 10
- Remove the rear part of headliner (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220595-S27580112932006022100000) ).
- Disconnect the antenna lead connector (A) and 1P connector (B) from the roof antenna (C).
- Remove the mounting nut and the roof antenna.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the right rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(ref-220595-S16417748472006022100000) .
- Disconnect the XM receiver connector (A) and the antenna lead connector (B).
- Remove the three mounting bolts, then remove the XM receiver.
- Install the XM receiver in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 12
- Remove the rear part of headliner (see «HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-220595-S27580112932006022100000) ).
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the mounting nut and the XM antenna.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 13
- Remove the driver's airbag assembly (see «DRIVER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT»(ref-220642-S16976854842006022100000) ).
- Remove the two screws and cover (A) from the steering wheel.
- Remove the two screws from the radio remote switch (B).
- Disconnect the 4P connector from the radio remote switch.
- Measure resistance between the No. 3 and No. 4 terminals in each switch position according to the table. RESISTANCE REFERENCE Position Resistance OFF About 10 K ohm MODE About 3.2 K ohm CH About 1 K ohm (VOL. UP) About 320 ohm (VOL. DOWN) About 50 ohm
- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the radio remote switch.
