Removal

1. Ensure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable Disconnect the positive cable.
3. Disconnect the knock sensor connector.
4. Remove the bolt (A) securing the harness bracket. Remove the intake manifold bracket. (Scheme 48)
5. Disconnect the starter cable (A) from the "B" terminal on the solenoid, disconnect the Black/White wire (B) from the "B" terminal. see scheme 4
6. Remove the two bolts holding the starter. Remove the starter.

Installation

1. Install the starter in the reverse order of removal. Ensure the crimped side of the ring terminal is facing out. (Scheme 49)
2. Connect the battery positive cable and negative cable to the battery.
3. Start the engine to ensure the starter works properly.
4. Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, enter the customer's radio station presets. Set the clock.
5. Perform the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure, and the power window control unit reset procedure. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
