Lubricants and Fluids
For details of lubrication points and type of lubricants to be applied, refer to the illustrated index and various work procedures (such as Assembly/Reassembly, Replacement, Overhaul, Installation, etc.) contained in each section.
| NO. | LUBRICATION POINTS | LUBRICANT |
| A | Engine | Honda Motor Oil: P/N 08798-9023. The oil container may also display the API Certification seal as shown below. Make sure it says "For Gasoline Engines." SAE Viscosity: See chart below. |
| B | Transmission | Honda ATF-Z1 (ATF) (1) |
| C | Brake system (including ABS line) | Honda Heavy Duty DOT 3 Brake Fluid (2) |
| D | Power steering gearbox | Steering grease P/N 08733-B070E |
| E | Throttle cable end (throttle link) | Super High Temp Urea Grease: P/N 08798-9002 |
| F | Throttle cable end (below dashboard) | Silicone grease |
| G | Brake booster clevis | Multipurpose grease |
| H | Pedal linkage |
| I | Battery terminals |
| J | Fuel fill door |
| K | Hinges, latches, and locks |
| L | Door hinges: upper and lower |
| M | Door opening detent |
| N | Caliper piston boot, caliper pins, and boots | Silicone Grease: P/N 08C30-B0234M |
| O | Rear brake shoe linkage | Molykote grease 44MA |
| P | Power steering system | Honda Power Steering Fluid (3) |
| Q | Air conditioning compressor | Compressor oil: SANDEN SP-10 (P/N 38897-P13-A01AH or 38899-P13-A01) For refrigerant: HFC-134a (R-134a) |
| (1) Always use Honda ATF-Z1 (ATF). Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality. (2) Always use Honda Heavy Duty DOT 3 Brake Fluid. Using a non-Honda brake fluid can cause corrosion and decrease the life of the system. (3) Always use Honda Power Steering Fluid. Using any other type of power steering fluid or automatic transmission fluid can cause increased wear and poor steering in cold weather. |

Note. Lubricate all hinges, latches, and locks once a year. In corrosive areas, more frequent lubrication is necessary. We recommend Honda White Lithium Grease.
