Fuel Injection System - Pgm-Fi System: Overview Honda Civic II

Testing & Diagnostics 1 illustration ~130 words

DESCRIPTION

There are 5 basic sub-systems in the Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system: ECU, input signals, air intake system, fuel delivery system and idle control system. Only primary sub-systems which affect fuel system operation will be covered in this article. For additional information on the electronic control system, see ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM articles in COMPUTER CONTROLS section. For idle control system information, see TUNE-UP article in the TUNE-UP section.

System uses an 8-bit microcomputer and various sensors to provide accurate control of air/fuel mixture under most operating conditions. At precise time each piston is on its intake stroke, fuel is injected into correct intake manifold runner. Sequential injection is used on all models except Civic standard which is throttle body injection.
