POWER WINDOW SYSTEM
A Permanent Magnet (PM) motor operates each of the power windows. Each motor raises or lowers the glass when the voltage is supplied to it. The direction the motor turns depends on the polarity of the supply voltage. The switches control the supply voltage polarity. The master door lock/power window switch assembly controls both of the motors. The Right window switch controls only the Right window motor. Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If a window switch is held too long with the window obstructed or after the window is fully up or down, the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breaker resets automatically as it cools.
LEFT WINDOW SWITCH
When the ignition switch is in run, battery voltage is supplied to the master door lock/power window switch assembly, the power window circuit breaker, and the Pink (76) wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . When any of the up switches are operated, battery voltage is supplied to the window motor through the Dark Blue (164) wire. The window motor is grounded through the DN contact. The motor runs to drive the window up. When any of the DN switches are operated, battery voltage is supplied to the window motor in the opposite direction through the Brown (165) wire. The window motor is grounded through the up contact. The motor runs to drive the window down.
RIGHT WINDOW SWITCH
When the ignition switch is in run, battery voltage is supplied to the Right window switch through the power window circuit breaker and the pink (76) wires to terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . When the up switch in the Right window switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the Right window motor through the Dark Blue (666) wire. The motor is grounded through the Brown (667) wire, the DN contact in the Right window switch, the Tan (167) wire and the DN contact in the master door lock/power window switch assembly.
The motor runs to drive the window up. When the DN switch is supplied in the Right window switch is operated, battery voltage is supplied to the Right window motor in the opposite direction through the Brown (667) wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . The motor is grounded through the Dark Blue (666) wire, the up contact in the Right window switch, the Dark Blue/White (166) wire and the up contact in the master door lock/power window switch assembly. The motor runs to drive the window down.
VENT WINDOW
- Remove the door trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142483-S04396046452002080600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Adjust the vent by placing a wrench on the adjusting nut, and then turning the vent window to the proper tension. (Scheme 18)
- Install the trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142483-S04396046452002080600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

WINDOW STOP
- Remove the door trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142483-S04396046452002080600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Lower the window until it is flush with the window sill.
- Loosen the glass stop bolt (235), and adjust the stop (239) until the glass is completely flush with the window sill. see scheme 12 See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-142483-S00564104832002080600000).
- Install the trim panel. See «TRIM PANEL»(ref-142483-S04396046452002080600000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

POWER WINDOW REGULATOR
| CAUTION | When fasteners are removed, always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to be replaced, use the correct part number fastener for that application. If the correct part number fastener is not available, a fastener of equal size and strength (or stronger) may be used. Fasteners that are not reused, and those requiring locking compound will be called out. The correct torque value must be used when installing fasteners that require it. If the above conditions are not followed, parts or system damage could result. |
