SYSTEM CHECK

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate each window to UP and DOWN positions from master switch assembly.
  2. Operate each window to UP and DOWN positions from individual window switches. All windows should operate quietly and smoothly through full range of travel. If problem exists with power window system, See «SYMPTOM TESTS»(ref-2715-S09201724792000041200000) .

All Windows Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). (Scheme 1) If test light illuminates, go to step 3. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Dark Green wire between master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" and POWER WINDOW circuit breaker in body relay block. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire) and master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "C" (Black wire). (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If test light illuminates, go to step 5. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Black wire between master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "C" and ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000) and «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-2715-S29251610342000041200000).
  5. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). (Scheme 2) Operate left front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, diagnose each window separately. See appropriate system test. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step.
  6. Check master switch assembly for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Left Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). (Scheme 2) Operate left window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, check master switch assembly for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between left window regulator motor connector terminals "B" (Dark Blue wire) and "A" (Brown wire). Operate left window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, repair open in Dark Blue wire or Brown wire between master switch assembly and left front window regulator motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).
  3. Check left window regulator motor connector for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace left window regulator motor. See «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR»(ref-2715-S41737014092000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Right Window Inoperative From Right Switch

Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe right window switch connector terminal "F" (Dark Green wire). (Scheme 1) If test light illuminates, replace right window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Dark Green wire between right window switch and body relay block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS and COMPONENT LOCATIONS.

Right Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between right window regulator motor connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire). Operate right window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step. If test light illuminates in both positions, check right window regulator motor for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace right window regulator motor. See «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR»(ref-2715-S41737014092000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between right window switch connector terminals "J" (Light Blue wire) and "L" (Tan wire). (Scheme 1) Operate right window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step 4.
  3. Using a test light, backprobe between right window switch connector terminals "G" (Dark Blue wire) and "K" (Brown wire). (Scheme 1) Operate right window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, repair open in Dark Blue wire or Brown wire between right window switch and right window regulator motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000). If test light does not illuminate in both positions, check right window switch for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace right window switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C2 terminals "B" (Light Blue wire) and "D" (Tan wire). (Scheme 2) Operate right window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, repair open in Light Blue wire or Tan wire between master switch assembly and right window switch. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). (Scheme 1) If test light illuminates, go to step 3. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Dark Green wire between master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" and POWER WINDOW circuit breaker in body relay block. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000) and «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-2715-S29251610342000041200000).
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire) and master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "C" (Black wire). (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If test light illuminates, go to step 5. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Black wire between master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "C" and ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000) and «COMPONENT LOCATIONS»(ref-2715-S29251610342000041200000).
  5. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). (Scheme 2) Operate left front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, diagnose each inoperative window separately. See appropriate system test. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step.
  6. Check master switch assembly for poor terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Left Front Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). (Scheme 2) Operate left front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to step 3. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step.
  2. Check master switch assembly connector C2 for poor terminal contact. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connection is okay, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using a DVOM, backprobe between left front window regulator motor connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire) and master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). (Scheme 2) Operate left front window switch on master switch assembly to UP position. If battery voltage exists, go to step 5. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Repair open or high resistance in Dark Blue wire between master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "A"and left front window regulator motor connector terminal "B". See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).
  5. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe at left front window regulator motor connector terminal "A" (Brown wire). Operate left front window switch on master switch assembly to DOWN position. If battery voltage exists, go to step 7. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  6. Repair open or high resistance in Brown wire between left front window switch connector C2 terminal "E"and left front window regulator motor connector terminal "A". See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).
  7. Check left front window regulator motor connector for poor terminal contact. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connection is okay, replace left front window regulator motor. See «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR»(ref-2715-S41737014092000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

Right Front, Left Rear Or Right Rear Window Inoperative From Individual Window Switch

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe lock-out switch connector terminal "D" (Dark Green wire). (Scheme 3) If test light illuminates, go to step 3. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Repair open or high resistance in Dark Green wire between lock-out switch connector terminal "D" and master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "L". See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Place window lock-out switch in UNLOCK position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe lock-out switch connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire). (Scheme 3) If test light illuminates, go to step 5. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Check window lock-out switch connector for poor terminal contact. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connection is okay, replace window lock-out switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe inoperative rear window switch connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire) or inoperative right front window switch connector C1 terminal "F" (Dark Green wire). (Scheme 1)or (Scheme 4). If test light illuminates, replace inoperative window switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  6. On rear windows, repair open or high resistance in Dark Blue wire between window lock-out switch connector terminal "B" and inoperative window switch connector terminal "B". On right front window, repair open or high resistance in wire between window lock-out switch connector terminal "B" and right front window switch connector terminal "F". Repair as necessary and retest system.

Right Front Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between right front window motor connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire). Operate right window switch between UP and DOWN positions. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step. If test light illuminates in both positions, check right front window regulator motor for poor connection. If connection is okay, replace right front window regulator motor. See «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR»(ref-2715-S41737014092000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between right front window switch connector terminals "J" (Light Blue wire) and "L" (Tan wire). (Scheme 1) Operate right front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step 4.
  3. Using a test light, backprobe between right front window switch connector terminals "G" (Dark Blue wire) and "K" (Brown wire). (Scheme 1) Operate right front window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, repair open in Dark Blue wire or Brown wire between right front window switch and window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000). If test light does not illuminate in both positions, check right front window switch for poor connection. If connection is okay, replace right front window switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Using a test light, backprobe between master switch assembly terminals "B" (Light Blue wire) and "D" (Tan wire). (Scheme 2) Operate right front window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Repair poor connection or open in Light Blue wire or Tan wire between master switch assembly connector C2 and right front window switch connector. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000). Retest system.

Left Rear Or Right Rear Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a test light, backprobe between inoperative rear window motor connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Dark Blue wire). Operate inoperative rear window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to next step. If test light illuminates in both positions, check inoperative rear window regulator motor for poor connection. If connection is okay, replace inoperative rear window regulator motor. See «WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR»(ref-2715-S41737014092000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using a test light, backprobe between inoperative rear window switch connector terminals "A" (Dark Green or Light Green wire) and "D" (Purple wire). (Scheme 4) Operate inoperative window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, go to step 4.
  3. Using a test light, backprobe between inoperative rear window switch connector terminals "F" (Brown wire) and "C" (Dark Blue wire). (Scheme 4) Operate inoperative rear window switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, repair open in Dark Blue wire or Brown wire between inoperative rear window switch and window motor. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000). If test light does not illuminate in both positions, check inoperative rear window switch for poor connection. If connection is okay, replace inoperative rear window switch. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. For left rear window, connect test light (backprobe) between master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "G" (Dark Green wire) and master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "K" (Purple wire). For right rear window, connect test light (backprobe) between master switch assembly connector C2 terminal "H" (Light Green wire) and master switch assembly connector C1 terminal "H" (Purple wire). (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). Operate inoperative rear window switch on master switch assembly to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, replace master switch assembly. See «WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-2715-S06550676562000041200000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. For left rear window, repair poor connection or open in Dark Green wire or Purple wire between master switch assembly and left rear window switch. For right rear window, repair poor connection or open in Light Green wire or Purple wire between master switch assembly and right rear window switch. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-2715-S25091238622000041200000).

Lock-Out Function Inoperative

Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Put window lock-out switch in LOCK position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe lock-out switch connector terminal "B" (Dark Blue wire). If test light illuminates, replace lock-out switch. If test light does not illuminate, repair short to voltage in Dark Blue wire between lock-out switch connector terminal "B" and splice S306. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
