Conditions for Running the DTC

System voltage is 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The forward and rearward switch signal circuits are active at the same time.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The adjustable pedals will be disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

  1. The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
  2. The history DTC clears after 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  2. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the appropriate B+ reference circuit listed below and ground: X88/Z88 - terminal 11 Z75 - terminal 5 If greater than the specified range, test the B+ reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. If less than the specified range, test the B+ reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  3. Verify the scan tool Pedal Forward Switch parameter is Inactive. If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. X88/Z88 - terminal 12 Z75 - terminal 6
  4. Verify the scan tool Pedal Aft Switch parameter is Inactive. If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. X88/Z88 - terminal 10 Z75 - terminal 4
  5. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below and B+. The scan tool Pedal Forward Switch parameter should be Active. X88/Z88 - terminal 12 Z75 - terminal 6 If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  6. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below and B+. The scan tool Pedal Aft Switch parameter should be Active. X88/Z88 - terminal 10 Z75 - terminal 4 If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal switch.

Component Testing

X88/Z88

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the B+ reference terminal 11 and the signal terminals listed below: Terminal 10 Terminal 12 If not the specified value, replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  3. Adjustable pedal switch in the FWD position, test for less than 2 ohms between the 12 V reference terminal 11 and the signal terminal 12. If greater than the specified range, replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  4. Adjustable pedal switch in the RWD position, test for less than 2 ohms between the 12 V reference terminal 11 and the signal terminal 10. If greater than the specified range, replace the adjustable pedal switch.

Z75

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the B+ reference terminal 5 and the signal terminals listed below: Terminal 4 Terminal 6 If not the specified value, replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  3. Adjustable pedal switch in the FWD position, test for less than 2 ohms between the 12 V reference terminal 5 and the signal terminal 6. If greater than the specified range, replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  4. Adjustable pedal switch in the RWD position, test for less than 2 ohms between the 12 V reference terminal 5 and the signal terminal 4. If greater than the specified range, replace the adjustable pedal switch.

System voltage to the MSM must be 9-16 volts.

The position sensor input to the MSM is not within the 0.45-4.55 volt range.

Memory recall functions will be suspended.

  1. The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
  2. The history DTC clears after 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal motor.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 1 and ground. If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  4. Verify the scan tool Pedal Position parameter is less than 0.45 volt. If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the 5-volt reference circuit terminal 1. Verify the scan tool Pedal Position parameter is greater than 4.55 volts. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal motor.

Park Enable Relay ControlB3631 0012

  1. The ignition is ON.
  2. The BCM attempts to energize the park enable relay.

The BCM detects a short to ground on the park enable relay control circuit while attempting to activate the output.

The output will be disabled.

  1. The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
  2. The history DTC clears after 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the left IP junction block.
  2. Ignition ON, transmission in reverse, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal E3 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the left IP junction block.

Visual/Physical Inspection

  1. Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the adjustable pedal system. Refer to «Checking Aftermarket Accessories»(ref-651023-S10146574172014081900000) .
  2. Inspect the adjuster cables for proper connections or damage.
  3. Inspect the adjuster screws and slides for damage or conditions which may obstruct movement.

Adjustable Pedal Switch Circuit Malfunction

  1. Disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  2. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the appropriate B+ reference circuit listed below and ground: X88/Z88 - terminal 11 Z75 - terminal 5 If greater than the specified range, test the B+ reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. If less than the specified range, test the B+ reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  3. Verify the scan tool Pedal Forward Switch parameter is Inactive. If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. X88/Z88 - terminal 12 Z75 - terminal 6
  4. Verify the scan tool Pedal Aft Switch parameter is Inactive. If not the specified value, test the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. X88/Z88 - terminal 10 Z75 - terminal 4

Adjustable Pedal Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal motor.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 1 and ground. If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.

Adjustable Pedal Motor Circuit Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the MSM.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 5 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Connect the X3 harness connector at the MSM and disconnect the harness connector at the electronic adjustable pedal assembly.
  4. Ignition ON, test for 1.5-2.5 V between the control circuit terminals listed below and ground: Control circuit terminal 4 Control circuit terminal 5 If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM. If less than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  5. Connect the test lamp between the control circuit terminal 4 and the control circuit terminal 5.
  6. Command the adjustable pedals to move forward and rearward. The test lamp should illuminate each time the pedals are commanded to move. If the test lamp does not illuminate, replace the MSM.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the electronic adjustable pedal assembly.

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the left IP junction block.
  2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal D1 and ground. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal E2 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the circuit fuse is open, test the motor control circuits and the switch control circuits for a short to ground.
  4. Transmission in reverse, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal E3 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 harness connector at the left IP junction block and disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  6. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 11 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the left IP junction block.
  7. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch and disconnect the X2 harness at the left IP junction block.
  8. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminals listed below and ground: Control circuit terminal E1 Control circuit terminal G1 If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  9. Adjustable pedal switch in the FWD position, verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal G1 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  10. Adjustable pedal switch in the RWD position, verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal E1 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal switch.
  11. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 harness connector at the left IP junction block and disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal assembly.
  12. Test for less than 10 ohms between the control circuit terminals listed below and ground: Control circuit terminal 4 Control circuit terminal 5 If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the left IP junction block.
  13. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminals listed below and ground: Control circuit terminal 4 Control circuit terminal 5 If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the left IP junction block.
  14. Adjustable pedal switch in the FWD position, verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 5 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the left IP junction block.
  15. Adjustable pedal switch in the RWD position, verify a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 4 and ground. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the left IP junction block.
  16. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal assembly.
