Application Procedure
| IMPORTANT | The striping material highlights vehicle surface imperfections. Eliminate all of the following before applying the stripe or the decal: Dings Rough metal Paint defects Uneven 2-tone paint breaklines |
| IMPORTANT | Apply stripes and decals in a clean environment where dust and fibers do not interfere with proper adhesion. |
- Clean the area where you will mount the decal. Use the suitable solvents flash naptha, or a mixture of 50 percent isopropyl alcohol and 50 percent water. Dry the area thoroughly. Repaint the area. Feather the paint in, if the paint is chipped.
- Warm the body surface to 27-38°C (80-100°F).
- Mount the stripes or the decals that wrap into the body openings or mount on flexible surfaces wet.
Use the following procedure for wet application of stripes and decals
- Use Dupont Duponal WA or the equivalent for a wetting agent. Do not use a soap solution. Spray a mist of solution onto the body area.
- Peel the backing away from the decal. Spray the adhesive backing of the decal in hot, humid weather with a mist of the wetting solution.
- Use a squeegee, starting at the center of the decal. Squeegee the decal onto the body, removing air bubbles and the wetting solution.
- Pull the decal back onto itself in order to remove the premask from the decal.
- Squeegee the decal again.
- Prick any air bubbles with a pin, if present.

| 1 | Extended Door Side Molding Tip: The part and surface should be 21°C (70°F) prior to installation. The vehicle should remain 21°C (70°F) for one hour after assembly to allow adhesive to develop sufficient bond strength. Using a J 25070 Heat Gun in a circular motion, warm the side door molding prior to removal. See Special Tools . Carefully clean the body panel thoroughly prior to bonding the new door body side molding to the door. Ensure the door is in the closed position prior to installing the new side door moldings. Remove the protective liner from the backside of the molding adhesive tape. Position the molding to the edge of the side door, then to the rear edge of the door. Ensure full adhesion of the molding to the door using the palm of the hand with a clean dry towel working from the front edge of the door to the rear, down the entire molding. |

The vehicle should remain 21°C (70°F) for one hour after assembly to allow adhesive to develop sufficient bond strength. Remove the roof panel finish joint from the roof ditch. Use of a heat gun is recommended. Using a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water and a clean towel, remove the left over adhesive residue from the ditch. Wipe the roof ditch clean with a clean dry towel. Peel the adhesive tape backing from the roof panel joint finish molding. Secure the molding starting at the front edge working rearward. Completely wet out the roof panel finish joint molding. |
