Note. If shims are installed between starter and engine, note and record the arrangement for installation reference.
- Disconnect battery ground cable. Raise vehicle. Remove starter braces and shields for accessibility. Remove 2 starter mounting bolts and allow starter motor to drop away from engine.
- Remove shims and note arrangement for reassembly. Remove lead wires and battery cable from solenoid (attached to starter). To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure shims are installed in original location.
