Removal Procedure

  1. If removing the right sill plate, remove the right insulator panel. Refer to «Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right»(ref-200362-S11353072362005102000000)
  2. Starting at the rear of the sill plate, use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the 5 retaining tabs.
  3. If removing the left sill plate, remove the sill plate from the hood release handle.
  4. Remove the sill plate from the door frame.
  5. Remove any retaining tabs that remain attached to the door frame.

Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure that all 5 retaining tabs are securely attached to the sill plate.
  2. If installing the left sill plate, position the hood release handle through the sill plate.
  3. Align the retaining tabs to the door frame slots.
  4. Starting at the front of the sill plate, push down on the sill plate, seating the retaining tabs to the door frame.
  5. If installing the right sill plate, install the right insulator panel. Refer to «Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right»(ref-200362-S11353072362005102000000)
  1. If removing the right rear seal plate on the Envoy XUV, remove the jack stowage cover first. Refer to «Cover Replacement - Jack Stowage (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S07292898172005102000000) .
  2. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the 3 sill plate retaining tabs.
  3. Remove the sill plate from the door frame.
  4. Remove any retaining tabs that remain attached to the door frame.
  1. Ensure that all 3 retaining tabs are attached to the sill plate.
  2. Align the retaining tabs to the door frame slots.
  3. Push down on the sill plate, seating the retaining tabs to the door frame.
  4. Install the jack stowage cover, if removed. Refer to «Cover Replacement - Jack Stowage (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S07292898172005102000000) .
  1. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the 3 sill plate retaining tabs.
  2. Remove the sill plate from the door frame.
  3. Remove any retaining tabs that remain attached to the door frame.
  1. Ensure that all 3 retaining tabs are attached to the sill plate.
  2. Align the retaining tabs to the door frame slots.
  3. Push down on the sill plate, seating the retaining tabs to the door frame.
  1. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to release the 4 sill plate retaining tabs.
  2. Remove the sill plate from the door frame.
  3. Remove any retaining tabs that remain attached to the door frame.
  1. Ensure that all 4 retaining tabs are securely attached to the sill plate.
  2. Align the retaining tabs to the liftgate door frame slots.
  3. Push down on the sill plate, seating the retaining tabs to the door frame.
  1. Remove the front bucket seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Front Bucket»(ref-200356-S09022098182005102000000) in Seats.
  2. Remove the front door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) .
  3. Remove the center pillar trim panels. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  4. Remove the floor console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  5. Remove the floor console bracket. Refer to «Bracket Replacement - Console Floor»(ref-200362-S09619410492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  6. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Position the carpet to the floor panel.
  2. Feed the front edge of the carpet underneath the instrument panel.
  3. Align the holes in the carpet to the seat studs on the floor panel.
  4. Position the rear carpet over the edge of the front carpet.
  5. Install the floor console bracket. Refer to «Bracket Replacement - Console Floor»(ref-200362-S09619410492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  6. Install the floor console Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  7. Install the center pillar trim panels. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  8. Install the front door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) .
  9. Install the front bucket seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Front Bucket»(ref-200356-S09022098182005102000000) in Seats.
  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Front Bucket»(ref-200356-S09022098182005102000000) in Seats.
  2. Remove the second row rear seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200356-S29675744002005102000000) in Seats.
  3. Remove the third row rear seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 2»(ref-200356-S24730086322005102000000) in Seats.
  4. Remove the front door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) .
  5. Remove the rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  6. Remove the center pillar trim panels. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  7. Remove the lift gate door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Liftgate»(ref-200370-S30479030012005102000000) .
  8. Remove the left/right front body side window garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Front (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S27964748562005102000000) .
  9. Remove the left/right rear body side window garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S41459935692005102000000) .
  10. Remove the bolts from the cargo tie-down loops.
  11. Remove the nut (1), securing the stowage jack carrier to the wheelhouse panel.
  12. Loosen the three bolts that secure the jack carrier to the vehicle.
  13. Remove the carpet from around the wheel stud.
  14. Remove the body electrical block. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  15. Remove the body electrical block electrical connectors back through the hole in the carpet.
  16. Pull the communication interface module electrical connectors back through the hole in the carpet.
  17. Remove the floor console to the floor console carrier. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  18. Remove the 4 nuts (2) retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs.
  19. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and remove the carpet from underneath the console bracket.
  20. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Position the carpet to the floor panel.
  2. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and slide the carpet underneath the console bracket.
  3. Position the rear carpet over the edge of the front carpet.
  4. Align the holes in the carpet to the seat studs on the floor panel.
  5. Install the four nuts (2) retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  6. Feed the bussed electrical center base and the communication interface module electrical connectors through the pass through holes in the carpet.
  7. Install the floor console. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  8. Install the center pillar trim panels. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  9. Install the front side door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) .
  10. Pass the communication interface module electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.
  11. Pass the body electrical block electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.
  12. Install the body electrical block. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  13. Install the carpet ensuring that the carpet hooks over the left wheelhouse panel stud.
  14. Install the nut (1) securing the stowage jack carrier to the wheelhouse panel.
  15. Install the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Right (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S01979267672005102000000) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Right (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S39505008052005102000000) .
  16. Install the left rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S22930548672005102000000) or «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S01913088892005102000000) .
  17. Install the left/right rear body side trim rear window garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S41459935692005102000000) .
  18. Install the left/right front body side window garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Front (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S27964748562005102000000) .
  19. Install the lift gate door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Liftgate»(ref-200370-S30479030012005102000000) .
  20. Install the cargo tie-down loops and secure the loops with the tie-down bolts. Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
  21. Install the rear side door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  22. Install the second row seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200356-S29675744002005102000000) in Seats.
  23. Install the third row seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Rear No. 2»(ref-200356-S24730086322005102000000) in Seats.
  24. Install the luggage/cargo shade assembly, if equipped.
  25. Install the cargo net, if equipped.

  7. Remove the left/right lower body lock pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Lower (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S34258825402005102000000) .
  8. Remove the jack and tool stowage bracket. Refer to «Jack and Tool Stowage Container Bracket Replacement (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S21042141932005102000000)
  9. Remove the rear seat & mid-gate rest. Refer to «Rest Replacement - Rear Seat and Midgate»(ref-200356-S00243412392005102000000) in Seats.
  10. Remove the body electrical block. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  11. Remove the body electrical block electrical connectors back through the hole in the carpet.
  12. Pull the communication interface module electrical connectors back through the hole in the carpet.
  13. Remove the floor console to the floor console carrier. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  14. Remove the 4 nuts (2) retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs.
  15. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and remove the carpet from underneath the console bracket.
  16. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Position the carpet to the floor panel.
  2. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and slide the carpet underneath the console bracket.
  3. Position the rear carpet over the edge of the front carpet.
  4. Align the holes in the carpet to the seat studs on the floor panel.
  5. Install the four nuts (2) retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  6. Feed the bussed electrical center base and the communication interface module electrical connectors through the pass through holes in the carpet.

  10. Pass the communication interface module electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.
  11. Pass the body electrical block electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.

  4. Remove the navigation control processor bracket.   11. Remove the lower rear quarter trim panels.   12. Remove the tool kit carrier.
  13. Remove the bussed electrical center junction block from the bussed electrical center base, and the bussed electrical center base from the floor panel studs. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) .
  14. Remove the child restraint tether anchors. Refer to «Child Restraint Tether Anchor Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)»(ref-200386-S25390656092005102000000) or «Child Restraint Tether Anchor Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200386-S21405847802005102000000) .
  15. Remove the bussed electrical center base and communication interface module electrical connectors through the pass through holes in the carpet.
  16. Remove the floor console to the floor console carrier. Refer to «Console Replacement»(ref-200362-S05327911492005102000000) .
  17. Remove the four nuts retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs.
  18. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and remove the carpet from underneath the console bracket.
  19. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.
  1. Position the carpet to the floor panel.
  2. Raise the rear portion of the floor console bracket and slide the carpet underneath the console bracket.
  3. Position the rear carpet over the edge of the front carpet.
  4. Align the holes in the carpet to the seat studs on the floor panel.
  5. Install the four nuts retaining the rear of the floor console bracket to the floor weld studs. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  6. Feed the bussed electrical center base and the communication interface module electrical connectors through the pass through holes in the carpet.

  8. Install the child restraint tether anchors. Refer to «Child Restraint Tether Anchor Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)»(ref-200386-S25390656092005102000000) or «Child Restraint Tether Anchor Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200386-S21405847802005102000000) .
  9. Install the bussed electrical center. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) .
  10. Install the tool kit carrier.
  11. Install the 3 tool carrier nuts to the floor studs. Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 7 N.m (62 lb in).
  12. Install the lower rear quarter trim panels.   14. Install the lift gate door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Liftgate»(ref-200370-S30479030012005102000000) .

  16. Install the front door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) .
  17. Install the front bucket seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Front Bucket»(ref-200356-S09022098182005102000000) .

  19. Install the navigation control processor bracket to the floor panel. Refer to «Navigation Control Processor Bracket Replacement (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200363-S13798413392005102000000) or «Navigation Control Processor Bracket Replacement (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200363-S25714846702005102000000) .
  20. Install the rear seat cushions. Refer to «Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200356-S20788909872005102000000) .
  21. Install the communication interface module. Refer to «Communication Interface Module Replacement (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200363-S12650733242005102000000) or «Communication Interface Module Replacement (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200363-S32269709242005102000000) .
  22. Install the front seats. Refer to «Seat Replacement - Front Bucket»(ref-200356-S09022098182005102000000) .
  1. Lower the midgate.
  2. Fold the hinged midgate filler trim panel (2) back.
  3. Release the trim cover retaining clips (1) from the sheet metal.
  4. Raise the midgate to the closed position.
  5. Remove the rear floor trim panel by grasping and pulling straight out to release the retaining clips.
  6. Remove the rear floor trim panel from the vehicle
  1. Raise the midgate to the closed position.
  2. Ensure that the retaining clips are securely installed on the back side of the rear floor trim panel.
  3. Install the rear floor trim panel by pressing the retaining clips into the sheet metal openings.
  1. Lower the midgate to the cargo position.
  2. Raise the hinged filler panel on the back of the midgate.
  3. Remove the pushpins securing the rear floor front trim panel end covers by unscrewing the retainer pin.
  4. Remove the rear floor front trim panel end covers.
  5. Remove 2 push pin fasteners by lifting up on each end of the rear floor front trim panel.
  6. Grasp the front edge of the rear floor front trim panel and pull straight up to release the retaining clips along the front edge.
  7. Remove the rear floor front trim panel by pulling straight up to release the retaining clips along the rear edge.
  8. Remove the rear floor front trim panel from the vehicle
  1. Ensure that the retaining clips are securely installed on the back side of the rear floor front trim panel.
  2. Lift up on the front edge of the cargo mat and slide the rear floor trim panel into position.
  3. Position the rear floor front trim panel so that the fasteners align with their respective holes.
  4. Install the rear floor front trim panel by pressing the retaining clips and fasteners into the sheet metal openings.
  5. Install the rear floor front trim panel end covers by pressing them in place.
  6. Install the pushpin in each rear floor front trim panel end cover by pushing the pin into the hole and screwing in the retainer pin.

Headliner Replacement (Envoy XUV)

  5. Ensure the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.

  17. Remove the 2 push pins from the rear of the headliner.

  20. Remove the headliner harness (1) from the body electrical center (3). Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) .
  21. Peel the carpet forward to expose the wiring harness.
  22. Remove the clips (2) on the headliner harness (1) from the left hand lock pillar.
  23. Remove the headliner harness (1) from the floor studs (3).
  24. Remove the headliner harness electrical connector from the I/P wire harness.
  25. Remove the clips (3) on the navigation coax antenna cable (2) from the right hand lock pillar.
  26. Remove the navigation coax antenna cable from the floor studs (1).
  27. If equipped with OnStar®, perform the following procedure: Remove the cover from the communication interface module. Disconnect the navigation coax antenna cable (2) from the communication interface module (1).   29. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner out through the rear of the vehicle.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the headliner into the vehicle.
  2. Install the rear 2 push pins.
  3. Install the right rear assist handle to the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  4. Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the cellular phone antenna. Refer to «Antenna Assembly Replacement - Cellular and Navigation»(ref-200363-S38151394722005102000000) in Cellular Communication.
  5. Install the left/right front assist handles to the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .

  7. Connect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector.

  17. Install the clips (3) on the navigation coax antenna cable (2) down the right hand lock pillar.
  18. Install the navigation coax antenna cable to the floor studs (1).
  19. If equipped with OnStar® perform the following procedure: Pass the cable through the hole in the carpet. Install the navigation antenna cable (2) to the communication interface module (1).   18. Remove the bolts from the cargo tie-down loops.
  19. Remove the nut (1), securing the stowage jack carrier to the wheelhouse panel.
  20. Loosen the three bolts that secure the jack carrier to the vehicle.
  21. Remove the carpet from around the wheel stud.
  22. Remove the body electrical block. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  23. Peel the carpet forward and up over the front seats. Note that the carpet hooks around the wheel house panel stud.
  24. Remove the headliner harness from the left-hand third pillar.
  25. Remove the headliner harness from the floor studs.
  26. Remove the third pillar headliner harness electrical connector from the body electrical block, and the block base from the floor panel. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  27. Reach underneath the carpet and disconnect the 6-way headliner harness electrical connector (1) from the cross-body wire harness.
  28. Remove the navigational antenna cable from the right-hand third pillar.
  29. Remove the navigational antenna cable from the floor studs.
  30. Pull the communication interface module electrical connectors back through the hole in the carpet.
  31. Disconnect the electrical connector from the right-hand body side window actuator.
  32. Disconnect the electrical connector from the left-hand body side window actuator.
  33. Remove the windshield rearview mirror wire harness cover.
  34. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (3).
  35. Disconnect the rain sensor electrical connector (2), if equipped.
  36. Disconnect the coax cable (1) from the navigational antenna, if equipped.
  37. Remove the bolt securing the auxiliary air conditioning duct to the vehicle.
  38. Remove the 2 push pins (2,3) from the rear of the headliner.
  39. Remove the 3 push pins from the rear of the headliner.
  40. Release the assist handles from the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  41. With the aid of an assistant, lower the headliner to release the interlocking strips (1) that retain the headliner to the roof panel.
  42. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially lower the headliner and disconnect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.
  43. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner from the vehicle.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the headliner into the vehicle.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially raise the headliner and connect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, fully raise the headliner and ensure that the retaining strips (1) are engaged, and the headliner harnesses (4) hang free of the headliner.
  4. Install the assist handles to the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  5. Install the right rear push pin (2).
  6. Install the left rear push pin (3).
  7. Install the 3 push pins in the center of the headliner.
  8. Install the sunshades to the headliner. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(ref-200370-S23887412352005102000000) .
  9. Install the left and right sunshade retaining clips (5). Tighten: Tighten the sunshade retaining clip screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
  10. Install the auxiliary air conditioning duct to the vehicle with the bolt. Tighten: Tighten the auxiliary air conditioning duct bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
  11. Connect the coax cable (1) to the navigation antenna, if equipped.
  12. Connect the rain sensor electrical connector (2), if equipped.
  13. Connect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (3).
  14. Install the windshield rearview mirror wire harness cover.
  15. Install the video display, if equipped. Refer to «Video Display Replacement»(ref-200368-S18636681582005102000000) in Entertainment.

  25. Pass the communication interface module electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.
  26. Install the headliner harness retaining clips to the rocker panel and the floor panel.
  27. If equipped with OnStar® perform the following procedure: Install the navigation antenna cable to the right 'C' pillar. Install the navigation antenna cable to the floor studs.
  28. Install the body electrical block. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) in Wiring Systems.
  29. Install the rear carpet. Ensure that the carpet hooks over the left wheelhouse panel stud.
  30. Connect the electrical connector to the left-hand body side window actuator.
  31. Connect the electrical connector to the right-hand body side window actuator.
  32. Install the nut (1) securing the stowage jack carrier to the wheelhouse panel.

  14. Remove the center pillar harness ground bolt (2).
  15. Remove the harness from the left center pillar.
  16. Remove the rear seats.   19. Reach underneath the carpet and remove the headliner harness electrical connector (1) from the IP wire harness.
  20. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (6).

  22. Disconnect the navigation antenna electrical connector, if equipped.

  25. Remove the 2 push pins from the rear of the headliner.
  26. Release the assist handles from the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  27. Fully recline the bucket seats.
  28. With the aid of an assistant, release the interlocking strips (1) that retain the headliner to the roof panel.
  29. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially lower the headliner and disconnect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.
  30. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner from the vehicle.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the headliner into the vehicle.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially raise the headliner and connect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, fully raise the headliner and install the left inboard sunshade retaining clip (5).
  4. Install the right rear push pin (2)
  5. Install the left rear push pin (3).
  6. Install the assist handles to the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  7. Install the coat hooks to the roof panel. Refer to «Coat Hook Replacement»(ref-200370-S08275166132005102000000) .
  8. Install the upper rear quarter trim panels. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)»(ref-200370-S01111547262005102000000) .
  9. Connect the navigation antenna electrical connector, if equipped.
  10. Connect the rain sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
  11. Connect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (6).
  12. If the vehicle is NOT equipped with a sunroof, seat the 2 interlocking strips (1).
  13. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, seat the 6 interlocking strips.
  14. Reach underneath the carpet and remove the headliner harness electrical connector (1) from the IP wire harness.
  15. Install the center pillar headliner harness electrical connector to the bussed electrical center, and the block base to the floor panel. Refer to «Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement»(ref-200357-S34802624752005102000000) .
  16. Install the headliner harness retaining clips (2) to the rocker panel and the floor panel.
  17. Install the headliner harness to the left center pillar.
  18. Install the following headliner harness clips to the center pillar: The center pillar harness clips (1) The center pillar harness clips (3) The center pillar harness clips (4)
  19. Install the ground terminals and the ground bolt (2) to the center pillar. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
  20. If equipped with OnStar® perform the following procedure: Install the navigation antenna cable to the right center pillar. Install the navigation antenna cable to the right side door sill attachments. Install the navigation antenna cable to the communication interface module. Refer to «Navigation Control Processor Bracket Replacement (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200363-S13798413392005102000000) or «Navigation Control Processor Bracket Replacement (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200363-S25714846702005102000000) .
  21. Install the sunshades to the headliner. Refer to «Sunshade Replacement»(ref-200370-S23887412352005102000000) .
  22. If equipped, install the overhead console. Refer to «Console Replacement - Overhead (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S31327412472005102000000) or «Console Replacement - Overhead (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S24836168992005102000000) .
  23. Install the video display, if equipped. Refer to «Video Display Replacement»(ref-200368-S18636681582005102000000) .

  28. Install the rear seats.   29. Install the luggage/cargo shelf assembly, if equipped.
  30. Install the cargo net, if equipped.
  1. Use a flat bladed tool in order to open the front and rear bezel covers.
  2. Position the stem of a flat bladed tool at the rear bezel.
  3. Push the rear bezel rearward 6 mm (1/4 in) and pull down on the handle in order to release the roof panel retaining tab.
  4. Position the stem of a flat bladed tool at the inside edge of the front bezel assembly.
  5. Push the front bezel assembly forward 6 mm (1/4 in) and pull down on the handle in order to release the roof panel retaining tab.
  6. Partially lower the headliner in order to expose the rear handle retaining tab (1).
  7. Insert the tip of a flat bladed tool into the rear retaining tab (1).
  8. With the retaining tab (1) released, pull down on the handle in order to release the roof panel tab from the bezel.
  9. Remove the handle from the roof panel.
  10. Partially lower the headliner in order to expose the front handle retaining tab (1).
  11. Insert the tip of a flat bladed tool into the front retaining tab (1).
  12. With the retaining tab (1) released, pull down on the handle in order to release the roof panel tab (2) from the bezel.
  13. Remove the handle from the roof panel.
  14. Rotate the bezels in order to release the bezel retaining tabs.
  15. Remove the bezels from the headliner.
  1. Position the bezels to the headliner.
  2. Rotate the bezels in order to seat the bezel retaining tabs above the headliner.
  3. Install the front and rear roof panel tabs into the bezels.
  4. Ensure the top of the roof panel tab (2) is positioned over the plastic retaining tab (1).
  5. Using a flat bladed tool, carefully push up on the bottom of the front roof panel tab (1) until fully seated.
  6. Using a flat bladed tool, carefully push on the bottom of the rear roof panel tab until fully seated.
  7. Close the bezel covers.
  8. Pull downward on the assist handle to ensure the handle is fully secured to the roof panel.

Scheme 1: Removal Procedure
  1. Access the coat hooks from the cargo area.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with diversity antennas, remove the bolt and coat hook from the roof panel.
  3. If the vehicle is NOT equipped with diversity antennas, perform the following: Loosen the bolt retaining the coat hook to the roof panel. Release the rear headliner push pins. Lower the rear of the headliner far enough to access the plastic and metal washers. Hold the metal washer from rotating and remove the bolt from the coat hook. Remove the coat hook from the vehicle.
  1. If the vehicle is NOT equipped with diversity antennas, perform the following: Install the bolt to the coat hook. Install the bolt and coat hook assembly to the headliner. Lower the rear of the headliner far enough to access the headliner substrate. Install the plastic washer to the bolt. Install the metal washer to the bolt. Hold the metal washer from rotating and install the coat hook bolt to the metal washer. Install the bolt retaining the coat hook to the roof panel. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. Tighten the retaining bolt. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in). Install the rear headliner push pins.
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with diversity antennas, Install the retaining bolt through the coat hook.
  3. Install the metal washer to the retaining bolt.
  4. Index the mounting hole on the antenna module grounding strap to the roof panel welded nut.
  5. Install the coat hook to the roof panel, positioning the open end of the coat hook inboard.
  6. Tighten the retaining bolt. Tighten: Tighten bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
  1. Open the sunglasses compartment cover or the beauty cover on the console.
  2. Remove the 2 screws (1) that retain the console (2) to the roof panel.
  3. Pull the console down to disengage clips.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3).
  5. Remove the console from the vehicle.
  6. If replacing the console, remove the switches. Refer to «Power Quarter Window Switch Replacement»(ref-200383-S04880409092005102000000) in Body Rear End.
  7. If replacing the console, remove the garage door opener, if equipped. Refer to «Garage Door Opener Replacement»(ref-200377-S21803017402005102000000) in Garage Door Opener.
  8. If replacing the console, remove the OnStar® microphone if, equipped. Refer to «OnStar Microphone Replacement»(ref-200363-S27426901262005102000000) in Cellular Communication.

  7. Install the front retaining clips by pressing the console (2) into the roof.
  8. Install the 2 screws (1) retaining the console to the roof panel. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 1.2 N.m (10 lb in).
  9. Close the sunglasses compartment cover on the console or snap the beauty cover into place.
  1. Remove the 2 screws that retain the console to the roof panel.
  2. Release the front retaining tabs.
  3. Lower the console and disconnect the electrical connectors as needed.
  4. Remove the console from the vehicle

  8. Seat the front retaining tabs.
  9. Install the 2 screws retaining the console to the roof panel. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 1.2 N.m (10 lb in).

  2. Remove the 4 screws securing the console retainer to the Z clips.
  3. Remove the roof retainer from the vehicle.
  4. If replacing the roof retainer, remove the Z clips from the roof panel.
  1. If replacing the roof retainer, install the roof retainer the roof panel ensuring the Z clips are fully seated.
  2. If installing the existing roof retainer, position the roof retainer to the roof panel.
  3. Partially install the 4 screws retaining the roof retainer to the Z clips. Tighten: Tighten the roof retainer attachment screws to 1.2 N.m (10 lb in).
  4. Install the headliner. Refer to «Headliner Replacement (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S26489428372005102000000) or «Headliner Replacement (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S17161678162005102000000) or «Headliner Replacement (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S15575918612005102000000) .

Scheme 2: Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(ref-200370-S32969954022005102000000) .
  2. Release the front assist handle from the headliner. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  3. Recline the bucket seat and release the upper portion of the center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  4. Open and rotate the sunshade parallel to the side window.
  5. Insert a small tool into the bezel access hole (1).
  6. Push upward on the tool while rotating the sunshade parallel to the windshield. The sunshade pivot arm bezel should appear to be recessed into the bezel.
  7. Apply outboard pressure to the sunshade while the sunshade is parallel to the windshield.
  8. Pull the sunshade downward while maintaining outboard pressure to the sunshade. You will notice a separation between the headliner and the sunshade bezel.
  9. In order to remove the sunshade from the headliner, carefully grab the headliner at the windshield pillar area and apply downward pressure while gently rocking the sunshade up and down.
  10. Remove the inboard retainer screw.
  11. Remove the inboard retainer (1) from the headliner.
  12. If the vehicle is equipped with lighted sunshades, perform the following steps: Reach above the headliner to access the electrical connector (1). Remove the electrical connectors from the headliner substrate. Disconnect the sunshade electrical connector from the headliner harness.
  13. Remove the sunshade from the vehicle.
  1. If the vehicle is equipped with lighted sunshades, perform steps 2 through 8
  2. Lower the headliner in order to gain access to the wire harness.
  3. Position the sunshade to the headliner.
  4. Connect the sunshade electrical connector to the headliner harness.
  5. Using a glue gun, hot melt the electrical connectors (1) to the headliner substrate, ensuring the connectors are securely attached to the substrate.
  6. Route the wire harness until fully seated into the sunshade wire harness channel located on the pivot arm.
  7. Position the wire harness retaining clip between the headliner and the roof panel.
  8. Position the index tabs on the wire harness retaining clip to the pivot arm and install the clip until fully seated. With the wire harness retaining clip installed, the sunshade should remain attached to the headliner.
  9. Position the inboard retainer (1) to the roof panel.
  10. Install the inboard retaining screw. Tighten: Tighten the screw to 1.2 N.m (10 lb in).
  11. With the sunshade parallel to the windshield, index the pivot arm tab to the roof panel slot.
  12. Apply and maintain upward pressure to the pivot arm while rotating the sunshade parallel to the side window. The sunshade arm should appear flush with the bezel.
  13. Rotate and clip the sunshade to the inboard retainer.
  14. Ensure the pivot arm retaining tabs are fully seated to the roof panel.
  15. Install the front assist handle to the roof panel. Refer to «Assist Handle Replacement»(ref-200370-S16822966842005102000000) .
  16. Install the windshield garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar»(ref-200370-S32969954022005102000000) .
  17. Install the center pillar trim panel. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Center Pillar»(ref-200370-S37416597122005102000000) .
  18. Return the bucket seat to an upright position.
  1. Starting at the top of the garnish molding, carefully release the upper attaching clip that retains the garnish molding to the first pillar.
  2. Release the remaining 2 retaining clips from the first pillar.
  3. Remove the garnish molding (1) from the vehicle.
  1. Position the garnish molding (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Align the locating fingers to the corresponding holes in first pillar.
  3. Starting at the top of the garnish molding, seat the attachment clips that retain the garnish molding to the first pillar.
  1. Remove the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  2. Move the seat to a forward position.
  3. Release the 4 retaining clips that attach the garnish molding to the center pillar.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature sensor, if equipped.
  5. Remove the garnish molding from the vehicle.
  1. Position the garnish molding to the center pillar.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the temperature sensor, if equipped.
  3. Index the positioning tabs on the garnish molding to the corresponding holes in the center pillar.
  4. Seat the 4 garnish molding retaining tabs to the center pillar.
  5. Return the seat to neutral position.
  6. Install the front and rear door sill plates. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front»(ref-200370-S28945979632005102000000) and «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  1. Remove the bolt that retains the seat belt upper anchor to the body.
  2. Remove the garnish molding from the vehicle.
  1. Install the garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Install the seat belt retractor to the body.
  3. Install the bolt that retains the seat belt anchor to the body. Tighten: Tighten the anchor bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
  1. Remove the bolt that retains the seat belt upper anchor to the body.
  2. Remove the garnish molding from the vehicle.
  1. Install the garnish molding to the vehicle.
  2. Install the seat belt retractor to the body.
  3. Install the bolt that retains the seat belt anchor to the body. Tighten: Tighten the anchor bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Release the clips that retain the garnish molding to the liftgate.
  3. Remove the wire harness (1) from the slot located on the garnish molding.
  4. Remove the garnish molding from the liftgate.
  1. Position the garnish molding to the liftgate.
  2. Install wire harness (1) into the slot located on the garnish molding.
  3. Index the locating tabs to the corresponding holes in the liftgate.
  4. Index the retaining clips to the liftgate.
  5. Push the garnish molding into the liftgate in order to fully seat the retaining clips.
  6. Close the liftgate.
  1. Pull the trim cover down to disengage clips.
  2. Remove the trim cover from the vehicle
  1. Install the trim cover to the upper lock pillar.
  2. Push the trim cover to engage the clips in the upper lock pillar
  1. Pull the trim cover down to disengage clips.
  2. Remove the trim cover from the vehicle
  1. Install the trim cover to the upper lock pillar.

  2. Remove the rear seat belt lower anchor bolt.   3. Pull the trim panel away from the lock pillar to disengage clips.
  4. Pull the seat belt webbing through the slot in the panel to remove.
  5. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle
  1. Route the seat belt webbing through the slot in the panel. Ensure that there are no twists in the belt.
  2. Install the trim panel to the lock pillar.
  3. Install the rear seat belt lower anchor bolt.   4. Install the lower body lock pillar trim panel. Refer to «Trim Panel Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Lower (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S34258825402005102000000) .
  1. Remove the rear floor trim cover. Refer to «Trim Cover Replacement - Rear Floor Trim Panel»(ref-200370-S16064924412005102000000) .
  2. Remove the jack stowage cover. Refer to «Cover Replacement - Jack Stowage (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S07292898172005102000000) .

  4. Fold the midgate to the down position.
  5. Pull the trim panel away from the lock pillar to disengage clips.
  6. Remove the alignment tabs from the holes in the upper lock pillar trim panel.
  7. Remove the lower trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Fold the midgate to the down position.
  2. Install the alignment tabs in the holes of the upper lock pillar trim panel.
  3. Install the trim panel retaining clips to the lock pillar by pressing firmly.
  4. Install the rear door sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  5. Install the jack stowage cover. Refer to «Cover Replacement - Jack Stowage (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S07292898172005102000000) .
  6. Install the rear floor trim cover. Refer to «Trim Cover Replacement - Rear Floor Trim Panel»(ref-200370-S16064924412005102000000) .
  1. Remove the cargo shade/cover.
  2. Remove the screw that retains the trim panel to the body.
  3. Remove the cargo net retaining knobs.
  4. Remove the bolt that retains the seat belt upper guide to the body.
  5. Remove the rear upper quarter trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Install the rear upper quarter trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Install the seat belt retractor to the body.
  3. Install the bolt that retains the rear seat belt upper guide to the body. Tighten: Tighten the rear seat belt upper guide shoulder bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).
  4. Install the screw that retains the rear upper quarter trim panel to the body. Tighten: Tighten the rear upper quarter trim panel screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  5. Install the cargo net retaining knobs.
  1. Raise the mid-gate to the up position.
  2. Fold the left rear seat to the cargo position.
  3. Pull the rear seat floor stud cover (1) straight up off of the seat rest (2) to disengage the retaining clips.
  4. Remove the rear seat floor stud cover from the vehicle
  1. Raise the mid-gate to the up position.
  2. Install the rear seat floor stud cover (1) to the seat rest (2) by pressing firmly to engage the retaining clips.
  3. Unfold the left rear seat to the passenger position.
  1. Remove the cargo shelf.
  2. Tumble the third row seats to the cargo position.

  5. Remove the lift gate sill plate. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Liftgate»(ref-200370-S30479030012005102000000) .
  6. Remove the left rear door sill panel. Refer to «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S37836887502005102000000) or «Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (Trailblazer, Envoy, Rainier)»(ref-200370-S02039144852005102000000) .
  7. Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt.
  8. Release the five screws that retain the rear quarter trim panel to the body.
  9. Remove the rear quarter trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Position the trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Position the seat belt over the top of the trim panel, ensuring that the buckle is not behind the trim panel.
  3. Index the locating tabs on the trim panel to the holes in the body.
  4. Connect the wiring harness connector to the auxiliary power outlet.
  5. Install the five screws that the retain the rear quarter trim panel to the body. Tighten: Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
  6. Install the seat belt lower anchor. Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  10. Install the left body side window rear garnish molding. Refer to «Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL)»(ref-200370-S41459935692005102000000) .
  11. Return the third row seats to the upright position.
  12. Install the cargo shelf.
  1. Remove the cargo shade/cover.

  5. Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt.
  6. Release the clips that retain the trim panel to the body.
  7. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.

  2. Tumble the third row seats to the cargo position.

  11. Return the third row seats to the upright position.
  12. Install the cargo shelf.

  6. Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt.
  7. Release the retaining clips that retain the trim panel to the body.
  8. Partially remove the trim panel in order to remove the inflator switch from the inflator bezel.
  9. Remove the auxiliary air outlet washer and retaining nut.
  10. Feed the auxiliary air outlet through the inflator bezel.
  11. Remove the inflator bezel from the trim panel.
  12. Disconnect the 12-volt power supply electrical connector.
  13. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Position the trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the 12-volt power supply electrical connector.
  3. Install the inflator bezel to the trim panel.
  4. Feed the auxiliary air outlet through the hole in the inflator bezel.
  5. Install the auxiliary air outlet washer and retaining nut. Tighten: Tighten the nut to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
  6. Install the inflator switch to the inflator bezel.
  7. Position the seat belt over the top of the trim panel, ensuring that the buckle is not behind the trim panel.
  8. Align the locating tabs on the trim panel to the holes in the body.
  9. Seat the clips that retain the trim panel to the body.
  10. Install the seat belt lower anchor. Tighten: Tighten the anchor bolt to 70 N.m (52 lb ft).

  3. Remove the rear floor front trim plate. Refer to «Trim Plate Replacement - Rear Floor - Front»(ref-200370-S29376100352005102000000) .
  4. Remove the cargo tie down loops and the cargo tie down blanks.
  5. Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to «Cargo Lamp Replacement (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200366-S30275875662005102000000) in Lighting Systems.
  6. Remove the endgate window emergency switch, if equipped. Refer to «Switch Replacement - Endgate Window Interior Emergency»(ref-200383-S06561877632005102000000) in Body Rear End.
  7. Remove the auxiliary power outlet from the trim panel, if equipped. Refer to «Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement - 12 Volt»(ref-200382-S42623225272005102000000) in Power Outlets.
  8. Remove the body side trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Install the auxiliary power outlet to the trim panel, if equipped. Refer to «Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement - 12 Volt»(ref-200382-S42623225272005102000000) in Power Outlets.
  2. Install the cargo lamp. Refer to «Cargo Lamp Replacement (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200366-S30275875662005102000000) in Lighting Systems.
  3. Install the endgate window emergency switch, if equipped. Refer to «Switch Replacement - Endgate Window Interior Emergency»(ref-200383-S06561877632005102000000) in Body Rear End.
  4. Install the body side trim panel in the vehicle.
  5. Install the cargo tie down loops and the cargo tie down blanks. Tighten: Tighten the cargo tie down loop bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
  6. Install the rear floor front trim plate. Refer to «Trim Plate Replacement - Rear Floor - Front»(ref-200370-S29376100352005102000000) .
  7. Install the body lock pillar upper tie bar trim cover. Refer to «Trim Cover Replacement - Body Lock Pillar Upper Tie Bar - Cargo (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200370-S06663071872005102000000) .
  8. Install the cargo mat. Refer to «Cargo Mat Replacement (Envoy XUV)»(ref-200383-S11412963432005102000000) in Body Rear End.
  1. Raise the midgate to the up position.
  2. Fold the right rear seat to the cargo position.
  3. Release the latch on top of the cover.
  4. Remove the jack stowage cover from the vehicle.
  1. Raise the midgate to the up position.
  2. Install the jack stowage cover by pressing firmly into position.
  3. Engage the latch on top of the cover.
  4. Unfold the right rear seat to the passenger position.

  2. Remove the nut (3) retaining the tool package (4) to the jack bracket.
  3. Remove the nuts (1) retaining the jack bracket to the floor studs.
  4. Remove the jack bracket from the vehicle.
  1. Remove the jack bracket to the floor studs with the retaining nuts (1). Tighten: Tighten the jack bracket nuts to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
  2. Remove the tool package (4) to the jack bracket with nut (3). Do not overtighten the nut.
