DTC INDEX

Diagnostic Starting Point - Adjustable Pedals (With Memory)

Begin adjustable pedal system diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information. The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information

  1. The identification of the control modules which command the system.
  2. The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit.
  3. The identification of any stored DTCs and their status.

The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

Diagnostic Starting Point - Adjustable Pedals (W/O Memory)

Begin the adjustable pedal system diagnosis by reviewing the system Description and Operation. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will help you determine the correct symptom diagnostic procedure when a malfunction exists. Reviewing the Description and Operation information will also help you determine if the condition described by the customer is normal operation. Refer to Symptoms - Seats in order to identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

Driver Seat Module

Circuit Description

The driver seat module (DSM) monitors the location of the adjustable pedals using the brake pedal position sensor. The brake pedal position sensor is supplied with 5-volt reference and ground circuits from the DSM. The position sensor signal circuit is referenced from ground within the DSM. The signal voltage monitored by the DSM ranges from 0.39-4.58 volts and is determined by the wiper location on the resistor within the position sensor. The position sensor circuit voltage level is used by the DSM to determine the position of the adjustable pedals when storing or recalling memory position settings.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC

DTC B3606 Adjustable Foot Pedal Position Sensor Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage to the seat module must be within 7-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The position sensor signal circuit voltage level to the DSM is not within the 0.39-4.58 volt range.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The memory recall functions will be disabled for as long as the DTC is current.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

  1. The DTC will be stored as a history code when the fault is no longer present.
  2. A history DTC will be cleared after completing 100 consecutive ignition cycles, or by using the scan tool clearing DTCs feature.

Diagnostic Aids

If the DTC is only found in history, the fault may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

The adjustable pedal motor control circuits are controlled through the adjustable pedal relay. The adjustable pedal relay may be controlled by either the driver seat module (DSM) or the adjustable pedal switch. In an inactive state both of the relay switch contacts are closed to the ground circuit. The relay coils are energized when battery voltage is supplied through the relay control circuits by the DSM or the adjustable pedal switch. When the forward control or rearward control relay coil is energized the appropriate motor control circuit is switched to the battery voltage supply circuit contact.

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC

DTC B3607 Adjustable Foot Pedal Motor Circuit

Battery voltage to the seat module must be within 7-16 volts.

The DSM detects one of the following conditions on either of the adjustable pedal relay control circuits

  1. An open or short to voltage while the DSM output is in an inactive state
  2. A short to ground while the DSM output is in an active state

The adjustable pedal system will be disabled.

  1. The DTC will be stored as a history code when the fault is no longer present.
  2. A history DTC will be cleared after completing 100 consecutive ignition cycles, or by using the scan tool clearing DTCs feature.

If the DTC is only found in history, the fault may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
