Transaxle Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid (A/T)

TCC solenoid is used to engage lock-up clutch. The PCM will apply or remove system voltage to turn the solenoid on or off to control hydraulic pressure to lock-up relay valve within the transaxle. If PCM determines a failure in either shift solenoid No. 1 or No. 2, PCM will not turn on solenoid, preventing lock-up.

For the converter clutch to apply, transaxle internal fluid pressure must be correct and PCM must energize solenoid. The PCM uses coolant temperature, throttle position, vehicle speed and stoplight switch to determine when to control TCC solenoid.
