INSPECTION & VERIFICATION

  1. Verify customer's original problem by operating system in question. Inspect vehicle for any obvious electrical component wiring or connector damage. Inspect connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check related fuses for system in question.
  2. Inspect 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) pins for damage. (Scheme 1) The DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, to the right of steering column. If pins are okay, perform data link diagnostic procedure. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If pins are damaged, repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation.

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), if not already connected. Select vehicle to be tested from NGS tester menu.
  2. Turn ignition on. Rotate dial on NGS tester to menu item DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK and press trigger. A test will be performed on the BUS (circuits No. 914 and 915) for the module communications network and the ISO 9141 communication link (circuit No. 70).
  3. If NGS tester displays CKT 914 (+) = SYSTEM PASSED and CKT 915 (-) = SYSTEM PASSED, module communications network is okay. If NGS tester displays CKT 70 = SYSTEM PASSED, ISO 9141 communication link is operating properly. Return to article that directed you here and continue diagnosis.
  4. If NGS tester does not display CKT 914 (+) = SYSTEM PASSED, CKT 915 (-) = SYSTEM PASSED and CKT 70 = SYSTEM PASSED, perform the following as applicable. If NGS tester displays CKT 70 = 00000000F, go to TEST H: NO MODULE RESPONSE/NETWORK ON CIRCUIT 70 under TESTING. If NGS tester displays CKT 914 = 000000003, go to TEST C: NO MODULE RESPONSE ON CIRCUIT 914 OR CIRCUIT 915 under TESTING. If NGS tester displays CKT 915 = 000000003, go to TEST C: NO MODULE RESPONSE ON CIRCUIT 914 OR CIRCUIT 915 under TESTING. If module in question is NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, go to SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis. If module in question is NO RESPONSE ON CKT 914 (BUS +), go to SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis. If module in question is NO RESPONSE ON CKT 915 (BUS -), go to SYMPTOM INDEX table to continue diagnosis.

SYMPTOM INDEX

TESTING

Note. Always check module power and ground circuits prior to replacing a control module. See appropriate DATA LINK CONNECTORS, GROUND DISTRIBUTION or POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.

TEST A: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 76-pin Gray connector C101 located in left rear corner of engine compartment, on safety wall. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 56 at connector C101 and terminal No. 2 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between connector C101 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  2. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 55 at connector C101 and terminal No. 10 at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire between connector C101 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  3. Disconnect 42-pin harness connector C100 located in left rear engine compartment, right of brake master cylinder. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 56 at connector C101 and terminal No. 30 at connector C100. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 3). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Tan/Orange wire between connectors C100 and C101. Retest system for normal operation.
  4. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 55 at connector C101 and terminal No. 17 at connector C100. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 3). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Pink/Light Blue wire between connectors C100 and C101. Retest system for normal operation.
  5. Disconnect PCM connector located behind right side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 30 at connector C100 and terminal No. 16 at PCM connector. (Scheme 3)and (Scheme 4). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between connector C100 and PCM connector. Retest system for normal operation.
  6. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 17 at connector C100 and terminal No. 15 at PCM connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire between connector C100 and PCM connector. Retest system for normal operation.
  7. Inspect PCM harness connector loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace PCM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST B: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM/TRACTION CONTROL (ABS/TC) MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 76-pin Gray connector C101 located in left rear of engine compartment, on safety wall. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 56 at connector C101 and terminal No. 2 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between connector C101 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  2. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 55 at connector C101 and terminal No. 10 at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire between connector C101 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  3. Disconnect ABS/TC module connector located in left rear of engine compartment. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 56 at connector C101 and terminal No. 17 at ABS/TC module connector. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 5). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between ABS/TC module connector and connector C101. Retest system for proper operation.
  4. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 55 at connector C101 and terminal No. 16 at ABS/TC module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between ABS/TC module connector and connector C101. Retest system for proper operation.
  5. Inspect ABS/TC module connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace ABS/TC module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST C: NO MODULE RESPONSE ON CIRCUIT 914 OR CIRCUIT 915

  1. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If NGS tester displays 000000003 for both circuits 914 and 915, go to step 3). If NGS tester does not display 000000003 for both circuits 914 and 915, go to next step.
  2. If NGS tester displays 000000003 for circuit 914, go to step 6). If NGS tester displays 000000003 for circuit 915, go to step 10).
  3. Inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) at DLC. (Scheme 1) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 14). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect PCM connector located behind right side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 16 at PCM connector and terminal No. 2 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 4). Also, measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 15 at PCM connector and terminal No. 10 at DLC. If both resistance readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between PCM connector and DLC. Retest system for proper operation.
  6. Inspect DLC for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect PCM connector located behind right side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Tan/Orange wire between terminal No. 16 at PCM connector and terminal No. 2 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 4). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/Orange wire between PCM connector and DLC. Retest system for proper operation.
  8. Measure voltage between terminals No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 4 (Black wire) at DLC. If no voltage is indicated, go to step 14). If any voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  9. Measure voltage between terminals No. 2 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 16 (Orange/Light Green wire) at DLC. If no voltage is indicated, go to step 14). If any voltage is indicated, repair or replace NGS tester.
  10. Inspect DLC for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  11. Disconnect PCM connector located behind right side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Blue wire between terminal No. 15 at PCM connector and terminal No. 10 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 4). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire between PCM connector and DLC. Retest system for proper operation.
  12. Measure voltage between terminals No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and No. 4 (Black wire) at DLC. If no voltage is indicated, go to next step. If any voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  13. Measure voltage between terminals No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) and No. 16 (Orange/Light Green wire) at DLC. If no voltage is indicated, go to next step. If any voltage is indicated, repair or replace NGS tester.
  14. Disconnect 42-pin harness connector C100 located in left rear engine compartment, right of brake master cylinder. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If NGS tester displays 0001, go to next step. If NGS tester does not display 0001, go to step 16).
  15. Reconnect connector C100. Disconnect PCM connector located behind right side of instrument panel. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If NGS tester displays 0001, replace PCM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST to confirm repair. If NGS tester does not display 0001, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between PCM connector and connector C100. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST to confirm repair.
  16. Reconnect all wiring harness connectors. Disconnect Anti-lock Brake/Traction Control (ABS/TC) module connector located in left rear of engine compartment. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS. If NGS tester displays 0002, replace ABS/TC module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST to confirm repair. If NGS tester does not display 0002, repair Tan/Orange wire and/or Pink/Light Blue wire between DLC and ABS/TC module connector. Reconnect all wiring harness connector and repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST D: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 76-pin Gray connector C101 located in left rear of engine compartment, on safety wall. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 61 at connector C101 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between connector C101 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
  2. Disconnect ABS module connector located in left rear of engine compartment. Inspect connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 61 at connector C101 and terminal No. 5 at ABS module connector. (Scheme 2)and (Scheme 5). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ABS module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Blue/White wire between ABS module connector and connector C101. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATION NETWORK to confirm repair.

TEST E: GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect GEM Black 23-pin connector C233 located behind instrument panel left of steering column. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 12 at GEM connector C233 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 6). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between GEM connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  2. Inspect GEM connector C233 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace GEM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST F: DIAGNOSTIC AIR BAG MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 12 at air bag diagnostic monitor connector C231 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 7). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between air bag diagnostic monitor connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  2. Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C231 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST G: REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY (RAP) MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO NGS TESTER

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module 26-pin connector C206 located behind center of instrument panel. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 3 at RAP module connector C206 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 8). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between RAP module connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  2. Inspect RAP module connector C206 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace RAP module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.

TEST H: NO MODULE RESPONSE/NETWORK ON CIRCUIT 70

  1. Inspect NGS tester connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Inspect Data Link Connector (DLC) for physical damage, bent terminals or corrosion. Pay particular attention to terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire). Repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) Black 23-pin connector C233 located behind instrument panel left of steering column. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between terminal No. 12 at GEM connector C233 and terminal No. 7 at DLC. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 6). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Blue/White wire between GEM connector and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between terminals 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. (Scheme 1) If any voltage is indicated, go to step 6). If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  5. Measure voltage between terminals No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) and No. 16 (Orange/Light Green wire) at DLC. (Scheme 1) If any voltage is indicated, go to step 17). If no voltage is indicated, no problem is indicated at this time. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS.
  6. If vehicle is equipped with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with ABS, go to step 10.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 76-pin Gray connector C101 located in left rear corner of engine compartment, on safety wall. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. (Scheme 1) If any voltage is indicated, reconnect all connectors and go to step 10). If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS module connector located in left rear of engine compartment. Reconnect connector C101. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to power in Light Blue/White wire between connector C101 and ABS module connector. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  9. Turn ignition off. Inspect ABS module connector and connector C101 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connectors as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connectors are okay, replace ABS module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  10. Turn ignition off. Disconnect GEM Black 23-pin connector C233 located behind instrument panel left of steering column. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If any voltage is indicated, go to step 12). If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  11. Turn ignition off. Inspect GEM connector C233 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace GEM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  12. Turn ignition off. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 located behind left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If any voltage is indicated, go to step 14). If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  13. Turn ignition off. Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  14. If vehicle is equipped with a Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with a RAP module, repair short to power in Light Blue/White wire. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  15. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RAP module 26-pin connector C206 located behind center of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If any voltage is indicated, repair short to power in Light Blue/White wire between RAP module and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If no voltage is indicated, go to next step.
  16. Turn ignition off. Inspect RAP module connector C206 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  17. If vehicle is equipped with ABS, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with ABS, go to step 21).
  18. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 76-pin Gray connector C101 located in left rear corner of engine compartment, on safety wall. Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect all connectors and go to step 21) If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  19. Disconnect ABS module connector located in left rear of engine compartment. Reconnect connector C101. Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/White wire between connector C101 and ABS module connector. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  20. Inspect ABS module connector and connector C101 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connectors as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connectors are okay, replace ABS module. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  21. Disconnect GEM Black 23-pin connector C233 located behind instrument panel left of steering column. Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 23). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  22. Inspect GEM connector C233 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace GEM. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  23. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 located behind left side of instrument panel. Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 25). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  24. Turn ignition off. Inspect air bag diagnostic monitor Black connector C231 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  25. If vehicle is equipped with a Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with a RAP module, repair short to ground in Light Blue/White wire. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
  26. Disconnect RAP module 26-pin connector C206 located behind center of instrument panel. Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 7 (Light Blue/White wire) at DLC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/White wire between RAP module and DLC. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  27. Inspect RAP module connector C206 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary and retest system for normal operation. If connector is okay, replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Repeat DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS to confirm repair.
