TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Scheme 1
The power steering system consists of the following components
- power steering pump (3A674)
- power steering fluid reservoir (3E764)
- power rack and pinion gear (3504)
- power steering fluid cooler (3D746) incorporated into an automatic transmission fluid cooler and hydraulic cooling fan fluid cooler
- hoses connecting the various components

- Remove the air cleaner. .
- Unclamp and disconnect the power steering reservoir-to-pump hose (3691) and drain the reservoir into a suitable container. Plug the pump inlet fitting.
- Loosen the bolts and detach the reservoir from the insulators.
- Unclamp and disconnect the hoses.
- Remove the reservoir.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill, purge and leak check the system. For additional information, refer to «STEERING SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-204554) .

- Remove four pushpins and the engine cover.
- Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube. .
- Remove the nuts and bracket.
- Remove the stud bolts and position the hose aside.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING»(ref-139103) .
- Unclamp and disconnect the power steering reservoir-to-pump hose and drain the reservoir into a suitable container.
- Position the power steering reservoir out of the way. Loosen the bolts. Rotate the reservoir from the insulator. Pull the reservoir down from the insulator and position the reservoir out of the way.
- Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove two bolts, one pushpin and the shield.
- Remove two pushpins and the shield.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and the wire retainer.
- Remove the bolt and position the pressure hose bracket aside.
- Remove four bolts and position the A/C compressor out of the way.
- Disconnect the power steering pressure hose.
- Remove the two lower pump bolts.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the bolts and the pump.

- Using the appropriate special tool, install a new O-ring on the power steering pressure hose fitting.
- Position the pump and install the bolts.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the bolts.
- Connect the power steering pressure hose.
- Position the A/C compressor and install four bolts.
- Position the pressure hose bracket and install the bolt.
- Connect the wire retainer and the electrical connector.
- Install the bolt.
- Install the shield and two pushpins.
- Install the shield, one pushpin and two bolts.
- Install the wheel and tire assembly.
- Tighten the bolts.
- Install the reservoir. Push the reservoir up on the insulator. Rotate the reservoir on the insulator. Tighten the bolts.
- Connect and clamp the power steering reservoir-to-pump hose.
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING»(ref-139103) .
- Position the hose and install the stud bolts.
- Position the bracket and install the nuts.
- Install the air cleaner outlet tube and the air cleaner.
- Install the engine cover and four pushpins.
- Fill and leak check the system. For additional information, refer to «STEERING SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-204554) .

- Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING»(ref-139103) .
- Using the special tool, remove the pulley (3A733).

- Using the special tool, install the pulley.
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING»(ref-139103) .
- Install the bolts.
- Install the air cleaner outlet tube and the air cleaner.
