DESCRIPTION

The keyless entry system has two main components

  1. The electronic control module, located under LH luggage compartment trim panels.
  2. The five-button keypad on the driver's door. (Scheme 15)

The electronic control module performs the following functions

  1. Unlocking driver's door
  2. Unlocking passenger door
  3. Unlocking luggage compartment
  4. Locking all doors
  5. Automatic locking of all doors when the ignition switch is in the RUN position, someone is seated in the driver's seat, and the transmission is shifted through the REVERSE position.
  6. Turning on courtesy lights and keypad and keyhole illumination after any button on the keypad is pushed or either front door handle is lifted.

The control module will also accept and store an owner's alternate entry code. Either code will then operate the system. The system entry code is located on the owner's warranty card, on a label on the inside of the luggage compartment deck lid, on an owner's code card, and the code is printed on the control module. The control module is programmed at the factory with a five digit code. Replacement modules include replacement labels and a new owner's code card. (Scheme 16)
