CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT
If functioning properly, CHECK ENGINE light comes on when ignition switch is in the ON position and goes out after engine is started. If light fails to glow with ignition on or remains on with engine running, a malfunction exists in the electronic engine control system. Service system as soon as possible.
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE
The gauge should register within the NORMAL band under normal vehicle operation. If gauge rises into Red area (HOT band), stop vehicle and turn off engine. Allow engine to cool, and then check coolant level.
CHECK GAUGE WARNING LIGHT
If one of the following conditions exists, this light will come on when ignition switch is turned to the ON position: engine coolant temperature is high, engine oil pressure is low, or fuel level is approximately 1/16 of tank.
ENGINE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
This gauge indicates engine oil pressure, not the amount of oil in the engine. However, oil level may affect oil pressure. Under normal vehicle operation, gauge should register within NORMAL range. If gauge drops below NORMAL range, turn off engine, and check oil level.

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
The light should come on briefly and go out after engine has started. If the light remains on while engine is running, oil pressure is low. Check oil level.
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
The BRAKE light indicates one of 2 things: either the parking brake is engaged, or a malfunction exists in the hydraulic brake system. Light should come on briefly with ignition switch in the ON position. Light should go out after engine is started and parking brake is released. If the light remains on, it indicates possible malfunction in the system. Have system checked and serviced.
CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on briefly with ignition switch in ON or START position; it should go out after the engine starts, and alternator begins to charge. If light stays on or comes on with the engine running, it indicates that the battery is not being charged. Have electrical system checked and serviced.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE MONITOR (IF EQUIPPED)
The Vehicle Maintenance Monitor (VMM) indicates when the engine oil needs to be changed and if certain fluid levels are low. Panel display should illuminate with engine running.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
This light indicates the status of the anti-lock brake system. If light stays on for more than 60 seconds, have anti-lock brake feature checked as soon as possible.
SAFETY BELT LIGHT
On vehicles with passive shoulder belts, this light indicates one of 2 things: either the belt is not reaching the full lock position, or it is not securely fastened to the emergency release blocks.
TURBO BOOST GAUGE
On vehicles with turbocharged engines, this gauge indicates how much boost the turbo is giving the engine. If the turbocharger generates an overboost, a buzzer will sound. Reduce speed until overboost is eliminated. If sustained overboost is experienced, service vehicle immediately.
SERVICE INTERVAL REMINDER
After about 5000-7500 miles, depending on engine type, the word SERVICE will appear in the electronic display every time engine is started until it is reset. Have vehicle serviced when light comes on. To reset, depress TRIP and TRIP RESET buttons simultaneously until 3 short beeps are heard and the word SERVICE disappears from display panel.
