Pinpoint Tests A: The Clock Operation Is Erratic/Inoperative

Refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article, Horn/Cigar Lighter for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation

The clock receives battery voltage from the smart junction box (SJB) through circuit SBP14 (BN/RD). Ground for the clock is supplied through circuit GD111 (BK/BU).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following

  1. Fuse
  2. Wiring, terminals or connectors
  3. Clock

PINPOINT TEST A: THE CLOCK OPERATION IS ERRATIC/INOPERATIVE

CAUTIONUse the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

  1. A1 CHECK CIRCUIT SBP14 (BN/RD) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Clock C2016 Measure the voltage between the clock C2016-6, circuit SBP14 (BN/RD), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? YES : Go to A2 . NO : VERIFY the SJB fuse 14 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT GD111 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the clock C2016-3, circuit GD111 (BK/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : INSTALL a new clock. REFER to «Clock»(ref-293525-S12579401822008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation. NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
