Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. VISUAL INSPECTION CHART Electrical Smart junction box (SJB) fuse 35 (10A) Wiring, terminals or connectors Parking aid module (PAM) Parking aid sensors Parking aid switch Parking aid switch indicator Parking aid speaker Reversing lamps
  3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  4. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  5. If the scan tool does not communicate with the VCM: Check the VCM connection to the vehicle. Check the scan tool connection to the VCM. Refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-293472) article, No Power To The Scan Tool, to diagnose no communication with the scan tool.
  6. If the scan tool does not communicate with the vehicle: Verify the ignition key is in the ON position. Verify the scan tool operation with a known good vehicle. Refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-293472) article to diagnose no response from the PCM.
  7. Carry out the network test. If the scan tool responds with no communication for one or more modules, refer to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-293472) article. If the network test passes, retrieve and record the continuous memory DTCs.
  8. Clear the continuous DTCs and carry out the self-test diagnostics for the PAM.
  9. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to «DTC Tables»(ref-293526-S32422657732008080700000) . For all other DTCs, refer to «MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES»(ref-293473) article.
  10. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, go to «Symptom Chart»(ref-293526-S16975189762008080700000) .

  1. A1 CHECK THE REAR BUMPER COVER AND PARKING AID SENSORS FOR CORRECT ALIGNMENT NOTE: If the vehicle was in a collision, the parking aid sensors may not be aligned correctly. NOTE: The rear bumper cover must be clean and free of ice in order to operate correctly. Check the rear bumper cover and parking aid sensors for correct alignment and signs of collision damage. Are the bumper and parking aid sensors correctly aligned? YES : Go to A2 . NO : REALIGN or INSTALL a new bumper cover. REFER to «BUMPERS»(ref-293469) article. If the vehicle was in an collision, further body work may be required to bring the parking aid sensors into correct alignment.
  2. A2 CHECK FOR RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PAM SELF-TESTS Check for recorded PAM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests. Are any PAM DTCs recorded? YES : REFER to «DTC Tables»(ref-293526-S32422657732008080700000) . NO : For no communication with the PAM, REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-293472) article. For PAM system pass, go to A3 .
  3. A3 VERIFY PAM OPERATION Test the parking aid system operation: Carry out the azimuth system check. Refer to «Azimuth System Check»(ref-293526-S03537890792008080700000) . Carry out the elevation system check. Refer to «Elevation System Check»(ref-293526-S42896303632008080700000) . Does the parking aid system pass at least one of the above system checks? YES : Go to A9 . NO : Go to A4 .
  4. A4 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION Apply the parking brake. Key in ON position. Select REVERSE. Check the reversing lamps operation. Do the reversing lamps operate correctly? YES : Go to A5 . NO : REFER to «EXTERIOR LIGHTING»(ref-293485) article.
  5. A5 CHECK CIRCUIT CLS10 (GN/BN) FOR VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: PAM C3267 Key in ON position. Apply the parking brake. Select REVERSE. Measure the voltage between the PAM C3267-3, circuit CLS10 (GN/BN), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? YES : Go to A6 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. A6 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP18 (GN/BN) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Disable Switch C2114 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-11, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side and the parking aid switch C2114-3, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to A7 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. A7 CHECK CIRCUIT GD111 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the parking aid switch C2114-4, circuit GD111 (BK/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to A8 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. A8 CHECK THE PARKING AID DISABLE SWITCH FOR AN OPEN Connect: Parking Aid Disable Switch C2114 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-11, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side and ground while pressing the parking aid disable switch. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the switch pressed? YES : Go to A10 . NO : INSTALL a new parking aid disable switch. REFER to «Parking Aid Switch»(ref-293526-S30497908382008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation.
  9. A9 MONITOR THE PAM DISTANCE PIDs Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Parking Aid PID Monitor the PAM distance PIDs while moving a test object into and out of the azimuth field directly behind each of the rear sensors: PID Description LRI_DIST Left rear inner parking aid sensor distance LRO_DIST Left rear outer parking aid sensor distance RRI_DIST Right rear inner parking aid sensor distance RRO_DIST Right rear outer parking aid sensor distance Do the PID readings correspond to the approximate distance between sensor and test object? YES : Go to A10 . NO : INSTALL a new sensor(s) for the one in question. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  10. A10 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

Pinpoint Test B: DTCs C1700, C1703, C1706, C1709 - Parking Aid Sensor Circuit Failure or Blockage

CAUTIONUse the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. B1 CHECK THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PAM SELF-TESTS Check the recorded PAM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests. Are multiple DTCs recorded? YES : Go to B2 . NO : For DTCs C1700, C1703, C1706 or C1709, go to B3 . For all others, REFER to «DTC Tables»(ref-293526-S32422657732008080700000) .
  2. B2 CHECK THE BUMPER WIRING HARNESS Inspect the bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds, or corrosion. Is the bumper wiring harness OK? YES : Go to B3 . NO : REPAIR or INSTALL a new bumper wiring harness. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. B3 CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR OPENS Key in OFF position. YES : If all of the parking aid sensors recorded DTCs, go to B5 . If one or more parking aid sensors recorded DTCs, INSTALL a new sensor(s) for the one in question. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. B5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

Pinpoint Test C: DTCs C1699, C1702, C1705 and C1708 - Parking Aid Sensor Circuit Short To Vbat

CAUTIONUse the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. C1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PAM SELF-TESTS Check the recorded PAM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests. Are multiple DTCs recorded? YES : Go to C2 . NO : For DTCs C1699, C1702, C1705 or C1708, go to C3 . For all others, REFER to the «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) DTC TABLES»(ref-293526-S35741893082008080700000) .
  2. C2 CHECK THE BUMPER WIRING HARNESS Inspect the bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds, or corrosion. Is the bumper wiring harness OK? YES : Go to C3 . NO : REPAIR or INSTALL a new bumper wiring harness. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. C3 CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITRY FOR SHORTS TO VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Suspect Parking Aid Sensor C4009, C4010, C4011 and C4012 Disconnect: PAM C3267 Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the suspect parking aid sensor pin 2, harness side and ground as follows: REAR SENSORS DTC Rear Sensor Connector- Pin Circuit C1699 LH outer C4009-2 VMP11 (BU/GN) C1702 RH outer C4011-2 VMP13 (BU/OG) C1705 LH inner C4010-2 VMP10 (WH/BU) C1708 RH inner C4012-2 VMP12 (BU/GY) Is any voltage present? YES : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : Go to C4 .
  4. C4 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSORS Install a known good parking aid sensor(s) for each of the suspect parking aid sensor(s). Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. Test the system for normal operation. Is the concern still present? YES : If all 4 of the parking aid sensors recorded DTCs prior, go to C5 . If one or more parking aid sensor(s) recorded DTCs, INSTALL a new sensor(s) for the one in question. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. C5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

PINPOINT TEST D: DTCs C1701, C1704, C1707 AND C1710 - PARKING AID SENSOR CIRCUIT FAULT

  1. D1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND PAM SELF-TESTS Retrieve the recorded PAM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests. Are parking aid DTCs other than C1701, C1704, C1707 or C1710 recorded? YES : DIAGNOSE the other DTCs first. REFER to the «PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) DTC TABLES»(ref-293526-S35741893082008080700000) . NO : Go to D2 .
  2. D2 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR OPERATION NOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that might activate the parking aid system. Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water. Carry out the azimuth system check. Refer to «Azimuth System Check»(ref-293526-S03537890792008080700000) . Carry out the elevation system check. Refer to «Elevation System Check»(ref-293526-S42896303632008080700000) . Does the parking aid system pass both system checks? YES : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty or blocked parking aid sensor. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : Go to D3 .
  3. D3 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR DISTANCE PIDs Make sure the suspect parking aid sensor(s) is flush-mounted in the bezel. Key in ON position. Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Parking Aid PID With the brake pedal applied, shift the transmission into REVERSE (R) and monitor the parking aid sensor distance PID. The PID will read 255 cm (100 in) on a correctly functioning sensor. Does the PID read 255 cm (100 in)? YES : Go to D4 . NO : Go to D5 .
  4. D4 CHECK THE PARKING AID SENSOR ATTENUATION PIDs Check the parking aid sensor attenuation PIDs. Do all of the attenuation PIDs read between 0 and 16? YES : Go to D6 . NO : Go to D5 .
  5. D5 INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR Key in OFF position. Install a known good sensor for the suspect parking aid sensor. Key in ON position. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the self-test. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : Go to D6 . NO : INSTALL a new parking aid sensor. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. D6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . REPEAT the self-test. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.

Pinpoint Test E: DTC B1299 - Power Supply Sensor Circuit Short To Ground

Refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article, Parking Aid for schematic and connector information.

  1. E1 CHECK THE BUMPER WIRING HARNESS Inspect the bumper wiring harness for opens, shorts, grounds, or corrosion. Is the bumper wiring harness OK? YES : Go to E2 . NO : REPAIR or INSTALL a new bumper wiring harness. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. E2 CHECK THE LH OUTER SENSOR FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Sensor C4009 Key in ON position. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the on-demand self-test. Is DTC B1299 still present? YES : Go to E3 . NO : INSTALL a new LH outer parking aid sensor. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. E3 CHECK THE RH OUTER SENSOR FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Sensor C4011 Key in ON position. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the on-demand self-test. Is DTC B1299 still present? YES : Go to E4 . NO : INSTALL a new RH outer parking aid sensor. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. E4 CHECK THE LH INNER SENSOR FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Sensor C4010 Key in ON position. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the on-demand self-test. Is DTC B1299 still present? YES : Go to E5 . NO : INSTALL a new LH inner parking aid sensor. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. E5 CHECK THE RH INNER SENSOR FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Sensor C4012 Key in ON position. Clear the DTCs. Repeat the on-demand self-test. Is DTC B1299 still present? YES : Go to E6 . NO : INSTALL a new RH inner parking aid sensor. REFER to «Parking Aid Sensor»(ref-293526-S10261778782008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. E6 CHECK CIRCUIT LMP07 (BU/WH) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Key in OFF position. Disconnect: PAM C3267 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-9, circuit LMP07 (BU/WH), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : Go to E7 . NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  7. E7 CHECK CIRCUIT LMP07 (BU/WH) FOR A SHORT TO CIRCUIT RMP07 (GN/WH) Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-9, circuit LMP07 (BU/WH), harness side and the PAM C3267-12, circuit RMP07 (GN/WH). Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : Go to E8 . NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  8. E8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . TEST the system for normal operation. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

PINPOINT TEST F: DTC C1742 - REAR SOUNDER CIRCUIT FAILURE AND C1743 - REAR SOUNDER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VBATT

  1. F1 CHECK THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS Check the recorded PAM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests. Are any PAM DTCs recorded? YES : For DTC C1742, go to F2 . For DTC C1743, go to F7 . For all others DTCs, REFER to «DTC Tables»(ref-293526-S32422657732008080700000) . NO : Go to «Pinpoint Test A»(ref-293526-S14901008082008080700000) .
  2. F2 MEASURE THE PARKING AID SPEAKER RESISTANCE Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker C3268 Measure the resistance between the parking aid speaker pin 1, component side and the parking aid speaker pin 2, component side. Is the resistance between 40 and 60 ohms? YES : If DTC C1742 was recorded, go to F3 . If DTC C1743 was recorded, go to F7 . NO : INSTALL a new parking aid speaker. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the scan tool data link test.
  3. F3 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP09 (BN/BU) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Connect: Parking Aid Speaker C3268 Disconnect: PAM C3267 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-2, circuit CMP09 (BN/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : Go to F5 . NO : Go to F4 .
  4. F4 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP09 (BN/BU) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND WITH THE PARKING AID SPEAKER DISCONNECTED Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker C3268 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-2, circuit CMP09 (BN/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : REPAIR circuit RMP09 (BU/GN). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : REPAIR circuit CMP09 (BN/BU). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. F5 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP09 (BN/BU) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: PAM C3267 Disconnect: Parking Aid Speaker C3268 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-2, circuit CMP09 (BN/BU), harness side and the parking aid speaker C3268-2, circuit CMP09 (BN/BU), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to F6 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. F6 CHECK CIRCUIT RMP09 (BU/GN) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-6, circuit RMP09 (BU/GN), harness side and the parking aid speaker C3268-1, circuit RMP09 (BU/GN), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to F8 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  7. F7 CHECK THE PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITRY FOR SHORTS TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Disconnect: PAM C3267 Measure the voltage between the PAM C3267-2, circuit CMP09 (BN/BU), harness side and ground; and between the PAM C3267-6, circuit RMP09 (BU/GN), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? YES : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : Go to F8 .
  8. F8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? YES : INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to «Parking Aid Module»(ref-293526-S39615088392008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the scan tool data link test. NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1748 - Switch Input Circuit Short To Ground

G3 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP18 (GN/BN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND - PARKING AID DISABLE SWITCH DISCONNECTED Disconnect: Parking Aid Switch C2114 Measure the resistance between the parking aid disable switch C2114-3, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : INSTALL a new parking aid disable switch. REFER to «Parking Aid Switch»(ref-293526-S30497908382008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. G4 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP18 (GN/BN) FOR A SHORT TO POWER Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the PAM C3267-11, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? YES : Go to G5 . NO : Go to G6 .
  5. G5 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP18 (GN/BN) FOR A SHORT TO POWER - PARKING AID DISABLE SWITCH DISCONNECTED Disconnect: Parking Aid Disable Switch C2114 Measure the voltage between the PAM C3267-11, circuit CMP18 (GN/BN), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? YES : INSTALL a new parking aid disable switch. REFER to «Parking Aid Switch»(ref-293526-S30497908382008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. G6 CHECK CIRCUIT GD111 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Parking Aid Disable Switch C2114 Measure the resistance between the parking aid disable switch C2114-4, circuit GD111 (BK/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to G7 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  7. G7 CHECK THE PARKING AID SWITCH Install a known good parking aid disable switch. Test the system for normal operation. Is the concern still present? YES : Go to G8 . NO : INSTALL a new parking aid switch. REFER to «Parking Aid Switch»(ref-293526-S30497908382008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  8. G8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly. Disconnect: Parking Aid Switch C2114 Disconnect: PAM C3267 Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-5, circuit CMP02 (GN/BU), harness side and the parking aid switch C2114-9, circuit CMP02 (GN/BU), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to H3 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. H3 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP02 (GN/BU) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-5, circuit CMP02 (GN/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : Go to H4 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. H4 CHECK CIRCUIT CMP02 (GN/BU) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the PAM C3267-5, circuit CMP02 (GN/BU), harness side and ground. Is any voltage present? YES : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : Go to H5 .
  5. H5 CHECK CIRCUIT GD111 (BK/BU) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Measure the resistance between the parking aid disable switch C2114-4, circuit GD111 (BK/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to H6 . NO : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  6. H6 CHECK THE PARKING AID SWITCH Install a known good parking aid disable switch. Test the system for normal operation. Is the concern still present? YES : Go to H7 . NO : INSTALL a new parking aid switch. REFER to «Parking Aid Switch»(ref-293526-S30497908382008080700000) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

Is any voltage present? YES : REPAIR circuit CME05 (GN/BU). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. NO : Go to I5 .
  3. I3 CHECK CIRCUIT CME05 (GN/BU) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Audio Control Module (ACM) C240a Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-7, circuit CME05 (GN/BU), harness side and the ACM C240a-20, circuit CME05 (GN/BU), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? YES : Go to I4 . NO : REPAIR circuit CME05 (GN/BU). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. I4 CHECK CIRCUIT CME05 (GN/BU) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Measure the resistance between the PAM C3267-7, circuit CME05 (GN/BU), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? YES : Go to I5 . NO : REPAIR circuit CME05 (GN/BU). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. I5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION Disconnect the PAM connector. Check for: corrosion damaged pins pushed-out pins Connect the PAM connector and make sure it seats correctly.   1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, engine off.
  2. Apply the parking brake.
  3. Place the gear shift in REVERSE (R).
  4. Verify that the PAM detects the object above when placed in the 5 specified locations (P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5).
