DTC U2005 - COMMUNICATION ERROR BETWEEN RCC MODULE & ICP Ford Taurus III

  1. Check For Communication Network DTCs Turn ignition on. To enter self-diagnostic test, press radio SEEK (left arrow) button and "3" button simultaneously on ICP. DIAG will be displayed. Press the radio "1" (PRESET) button. Any recorded DTCs will be shown. To scroll through DTCs, press TUNE (right arrow) button. If DTC 07 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC 07 is not displayed, system is operational. Test is complete. To exit self-diagnostic test, press Blue button.
  2. Check Tan Wire For Short To Ground Turn ignition off. Disconnect RCC module harness connector. Disconnect ICP 16-pin harness connector. Measure resistance of Tan wire between ICP harness connector and ground. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire and retest system.
  3. Check Tan Wire For Open With RCC module and ICP connectors still disconnected, measure resistance of Tan wire between connectors. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Tan wire and retest system.
  4. Check Light Blue/Pink Wire For Short To Ground Ensure ignition is off and RCC module and ICP connectors are still disconnected. Measure resistance of Light Blue/Pink wire between RCC module harness connector and ground. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Pink wire and retest system.
  5. Check Light Blue/Pink Wire For Open With RCC module and ICP connectors still disconnected, measure resistance of Light Blue/Pink wire between connectors. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace ICP and retest system. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue/Pink wire and retest system.
