CHECK ENGINE OR ENGINE WARNING LIGHT

CHECK ENGINE or ENGINE warning light indicates malfunctions in electronic engine control system. When functioning correctly, light comes on when ignition switch is turned to ON position and goes out after engine starts. If light fails to come on with ignition switch on, or remains on when running, a service need is indicated.

CHECK OIL WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

CHECK OIL warning light indicates a possible low oil level. When functioning correctly, light comes on when ignition switch is turned to ON position and goes out after engine starts. If light remains on when running, check the oil level. Check oil level while on level ground and add oil if necessary.

BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

BRAKE system warning light indicates that either the parking brake is on or fluid pressure in brake system is low. Light should come on briefly when ignition is turned on and parking brake is released. If light stays on, immediate servicing is needed.

AMP CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

AMP light will glow with ignition switch in ON or START position until engine starts. Light may also glow when there is a heavy electrical load on the system. If electrical load is reduced and light remains on, electrical system needs to be checked.

OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT

Light should come on briefly as engine starts. If light remains on while engine is running, there is low oil pressure. Check oil level immediately.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

ANTI-LOCK brake system light indicates status of anti-lock brake system. If light stays on longer than 60 seconds after engine start, check anti-lock brake feature as soon as possible.

LIGHT OUT WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)

If one of the headlights, taillights, or brakelights is burned out, this light comes on briefly. Ignition switch must be turned to ON position and the headlights must be in the low-beam position for the indicator light to function (electronic dash system is similar).

LOW COOLANT WARNING LIGHT

Light comes on to indicate that engine coolant level is low. If light remains on shortly after adding coolant, have engine cooling system serviced.

ERROR MESSAGE (ELECTRONIC CLUSTER)

If the word ERROR is displayed in odometer space on electronic cluster, there is a circuit problem. Service electrical system.

SERVICE MESSAGE (ELECTRONIC CLUSTER)

After every 7200 miles, the word SERVICE flashes briefly in speedometer area as a reminder to have oil change service performed. After servicing, reset service reminder function by pressing ODO SEL and TRIP RESET buttons simultaneously and waiting for 3 short beeps. The wore SERVICE should disappear. If not, repeat previous step.

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT OR TONE

AIR BAG warning light indicates a malfunction in air bag system. When functioning correctly, light should come on momentarily after ignition switch is turned to ON position. If light fails to come on briefly, remains on while driving, flashes or emits a tone, servicing is needed.
